Just yesterday I’ve published the rumor here, were a trusted source told us Fujifilm will start shipping the Fujifilm X-T2 earlier than expected (late August instead of early/mid September).

Well, an attentive FR-reader (thanks!), just send me the link to a this podcast, where at the very end a Fujifilm South Africa Manager says:

The X-T2 will be out at the end of August! There will be a limited stock unfortunately, due to our sensor factory [he means the Sony factory] being damaged by the earthquake.”

Great News… and thanks once more to the source for sharing correct information :)

Fuji X-T2 Shipping Starts Late August

I know, Fujifilm said it in the official Press Release and all the stores also say the same: the Fujifilm X-T2 shipping will start on the 8th of September (that’s the “shipping embargo” date).

However, a trusted source would like me to share with all of you, that Fujifilm decided to start shipping the Fujifilm X-T2 already in late August.

Of course, I never doubt what my trusted sources tell me. In fact, it already happened in the past, that they shared information with us, that contraddicted everything that Fujifilm has said, announced and even shown to the world… and yet our sources where right ;) .

Now, since this trusted source contacts me anonymously via rumor box (using a nick name) I’d like to ask it, if this is valid for all the world, or just for some countries.

KEEP IN MIND: shipping might start late August, but it will take longer until the X-T2 is marked by stores as “in stock“.

Why is the X-T2 shipping earlier?

But why is the X-T2 shipping earlier than originally announced by Fujifilm?

I don’t know it, but maybe the Firmware is now finalized. Hence, Fujifilm can now upload it on all the X-T2’s, put that beauty in a fancy box and send it straight to X-shooters all over the globe!

Or maybe the Fujifilm X-T2 pre-orders were lower than Fujifilm expected, so that the company can start shipping the X-T2 earlier than expected.

But that’s just all speculation. What matters is that, those, who pre-ordered very early, might get their X-T2 already within the end of August…. if no last minute bug is found ;)

There were times, when the EISA Awards were just a joke!

There were so many categories, that every company could win several awards. I remember categories like “Best Connected Camera” (won by Samsung) and EISA was even able to distinguish between “professional“, “advanced” and “premium” cameras.

And quite frankly, it’s still mostly like this. There is an award for (almost) everyone.

But at least they dropped some of the non-sense categories… and I hope they will continue this way. Less categories and more real prestige to the winners!

That said, let’s take a look at this years’ winners.

Fujifilm won two awards, one goes to the Fujifilm X-Pro2 for the “Best Professional Compact System Camera” and another one goes to the XF100-400 for the “Best Compact System Zoom Lens“.

The Sony A6300 got the award as best “pro-sumer” CSC.

The Architectural Charm of Porto

guest post by Adam – adambonn.com website

Hello Fujirumours readers!

I was recently incredibly flattered by Patrick kindly publishing my (shot entirely with the X-Pro1 and X-T1) story about the stray cats of Porto, which you can read here

Someone in the comments section did lament that there were no actual scenes of Porto in that post.

It’s a fair comment, (because there weren’t) but the story was about stray cats!

However I fully understand, Porto is a charming city, and in my opinion a photographer’s delight.

Not only are there all the ‘street’ opportunities offered by a major city, but the very fabric of the city itself is a interwoven juxtaposition of old and new, shiny and faded.

So, as a follow up here’s a post about Porto itself.

Now I’ve got to warn you… this won’t be some postcard series where we just stand on the banks of the Douro and take some snaps of the Ribeira shoreline, nor we will we hang around the Dom Luís I bridge and shoot the Metro.

Today I’ll take you, ever so slightly off the well trodden track.

So sit back, get comfy and pour a moderate glass of Sandeman and we’ll begin!

After several visits to Porto, we decided to make it our home, can I offer any further proof of my love for this city?

Street photography may very well live and die by the people in the shot, or the humanistic nature of the image captured, but in a wider sense street photography often requires the context of the background.

But equally, some times the background is the shot!

Porto is no modern spring chicken, much of it is very, very old and parts of it have, well frankly, seen better days.

It’s this combination of people and scenery that will capture your eye when you’re here, so let’s take a look at the architectural charm of Porto.

All are shot on the Fujifilm X-Pro1. A camera that I love dearly, and a body that I find for me; ideally suited for the street/documentary/reportage subjects I like to shoot.

Old and New
Old and new, this side-by-side nature is so often seen here. I shot this with the XF35/1.5 @ F5.6. This was taken from the garden of Casa Branca, which is a healthy eating Café within Porto’s cultural space. (I don’t love salads… But I really enjoyed theirs!)
