It’s time for our yearly rumor check, so that you guys can decide if FujiRumors was worth your time or not.
Eduardo Soteras has just been awarded with the UNICEF Photo of the Year 2022 for the image you can see above. The story is this one:
Although destroyed, the library in this elementary school in Ethiopia’s Tigray region is where two children have taken refuge in books. This little moment of happiness shows in their smiles. It is a rare moment. Because of the armed conflict with the central government, 5.2 million people in this region in northern Ethiopia are suffering from violence, displacement, malnutrition and a shortage of drinking water.
[…] The desire to discover and learn new things is often so great in children that it makes them forget the threat of a situation.That is the message of the Unicef photo of the year 2022,” said Unicef patron Elke Büdenbender, wife of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
“The winning image challenges us to do everything we can to ensure that children can play and learn even under the most adverse circumstances.
Because this is the only way they can maintain their hope and confidence in times of war and other crises.
Given the importance of this image, little it matters that the EXIF data shows it has been taken with the Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR.
Here on FujiRumors we just want to congratulate with fellow X shooter Eduardo Soteras for his important recognition and for making the best possible use of our beloved Fujifilm gear: encapsulating meaningful moments and important messages into a single powerful image.

Do you remember when Fujifilm USA dropped a brilliant Fujifilm GFX100S ad that basically was a shout-out to FujiRumors and created one of the most hilarious photography promo video I have seen ever?

Well, the one they dropped for the Fujifilm X-T5 is not less hilarious. I won’t spoil anything, just watch it above!
And to be clear… the X-T line was forced into the flagship role, as we reported here. But it’s nice to see the X-T line going back to its roots.
Nokishita leaked on an anonymous Japanese Forum the main specs of the Fujinon XF30mm f/2.8 Macro.
As FR-readers know, the lens will be announced along with the Fujifilm X-T5 on November 2 at 9AM New York time.

It’s not a dealbreaker, but a dubious choice Fujifilm made: on the Fujifilm X-H2S and the Fujifilm X-H2, the front and rear command dial are not clickable.
From what I have read, this was done to prevent accidental change of ISO value, and some even say it helps for even better weather sealing.
Quite frankly, none of these explanations convinces me.
And this is why, when I asked what you’d like to know about the Fujifilm X-T5, the question if the X-T5 will have clickable dials or not came up quite a bit.
Well, today I can give you the answer: the Fujifilm X-T5 front and rear command dial will be still clickable.
Personally I am very happy about that.

When I told you that the Fujifilm X-T5 will be smaller than the Fujifilm X-T4, some of you understood that this might be the reason why it won’t shoot 8K video (smaller bodies struggle more with heat management than bigger bodies).
But others were worried that the Fujifilm X-T5 won’t even offer 6K video.
So I am glad to report that, despite getting smaller, the Fujifilm X-T5 will still be able to shoot 6K video, more precisely 6K/30p.
So yes, it is not 8K, but 6K should be a pretty decent format for most video uses anyway.
The X-T5 is still a very nice hybrid camera.
