FR-reader Gerben’s wrote me an email that haunted me for several weeks and finally motivated me to do something that I hardly have time to do anymore for the reasons I’ve explained on my birthday: an image roundup.
So what did Gerben write me? Well, in short, he left Fujifilm for Nikon Z but then switched back to Fujifilm for one main reason: colors!

I have been using the xpro3 for some time, i quite liked it except the small grip, and rear LCD (I noticed i take quite a few quick shots of my daughter via the rear LCD) and some other things. Therefore I decided to look around and try Nikon. I read color rendition was about the same and face detect was better.
So i traded in my X-Pro3 and bought a Nikon Z6 and the 50 1.8s. Almost everything i liked: comfy grip, nice buttons, highly detailed EVF and LCD, top LCD, fast AF and face AF, great high ISO and so on.
But to my horror I noticed one thing was off quite often, the colors.
This was probably due to WB, but i shoot mostly family and JPEG and the skin tones either looked greenish in low light or to saturated red in good light.
Then i picked up the original X100 and shot a few scenes. BOOM, the colors and WB were right without any tweaking. Just sooc provia jpeg. Wow. I always thought fuji jpegs were great but that Canon and Nikon have good jpegs to.
It seems Fuji is still better. I really wanted to like the Z6, but if all factors are awesome but the colors are meh then its a no go for me. So i turned back the lens and body. Now waiting for my refund. Luckily my trusty 35 1.4 wasn’t sold yet. I am probably getting the X70 and X-T1 as i like the colors an X-H1 for low light and video. Ow yeah i also have the old D700. This older sensor renders sooc jpeg colors much nicer then the Z6 and are quite similar to my X100.
So i had a quick flirt with Nikon mirrorless but am back now at the Fuji camp. Guess ill be reading your post more often.
And in order to help to make non-Fuji-shooters understand what Fuji colors mean, I looked at the images shared at our Film Simulation group and picked a few of them for all of you to enjoy.
One important note: some images ARE edited.
Editing is allowed in our group. But it’s allowed, as long as one does not start to fiddle around with the colors in post. So you can add/recover shadows/highlights, sharpen, edit out disturbing elements from your image, add some contrast and whatever you want to do. But the colors must be Fujifilm colors, hence the film simulation profile must be selected in post. No other filters applied and don’t play around with the color tools in the RAW converter of your choice.
We have this rule, because SOOC is great, but here on FujiRumors we believe that also RAW shooters profit from great Fuji colors, as it shortens their editing time.
And I know what I talk about, because when I edited the tons of images I took at the wedding I photographed, just scrolling over the film sim profiles in Capture One and in a matter of seconds see which film simulation gave me the best mood for that particular picture, was a true time saver! I just focused on editing other aspects of the images, as Fuji took care of the colors for me.
Final note: members of our group also often fine tune their film simulation and make recipes out of them. If you are curious to know more details about the specific recipe just ask them in the comments of their post about it.

According to our sources, the Fujifilm X Summit that Fujifilm promised us to happen sometimes in May will happen on May 31.
There is lots of stuff that Fujifilm has in the pipeline for 2022. But will it really be all announced on May 31?

Fujifilm X-H2/S Rumor Recap
The Sirui Anamorphic lenses for Fujifilm X mount are right now in offer until April 30.
These will be great lenses for Fujifilm X-T3, Fujifilm X-T4, Fujifilm X-T5, Fujifilm X-T6, Fujifilm X-H2, Fujifilm X-H2S, Fujifilm X-H3, Fujifilm X-H2r, Fujifilm X-Pro4 and all the other cameras that Fujifilm will launch in the decade to come, such as the Fujifilm X-T7, Fujifilm X-H4, Fujifilm X-H5, Fujifilm X-Pro5, Fujifilm X-E5, Fujifilm X-H20, Fujifilm X-S20, Fujifilm X-H2O (the underwater X-H2)… ;)
Fujifilm Nordic has released a new Webinar.
Contrary to what we were used so far, this time they also included non Fujifilm X Photographers to the talk, meaning photographers that are not part of the official X photographers program, but who simply started using X or GFX gear, even though they have no relationship with Fujifilm Corporation.
The first not official X/GFX photographer to be part of the Fujifilm Nordic Webinar series is called Soren Solkaer.
And here comes Soren’s question: Will there be any improvements down the line in terms of sensitivity and also buffer? Here is what Fujifilm Nordic answers:
I guess it is safe to assume that Fujifilm Nordic is referring to the stacked APS-C sensor to be announced in May 2022 (as Fujifilm officially teased here) and hence hint to the possibility that the stacked technology could find its way also into future GFX cameras.
Just to be clear, so far in terms of rumors I have no hints about any stacked sensor GFX camera coming. Of course this doesn’t mean it won’t come, I just say that at the time of this article I have no information about it.

The Fujifilm X-T4 in silver and combined with the XF18-55mm is now no longer available at Adorama here.

So what is going on?
Well, maybe it is about to suffer the same faith of the silver Fujifilm X-T3, which is no longer produced in silver.
And to be clear: this does not mean that Fujifilm is discontinuing the Fujifilm X-T4 and that a Fujifilm X-T5 is coming in May at the Fujifilm X Summit (I mean, I don’t know if it is coming in May. So far I only hear of the Fujifilm X-H2 coming in May).
So, don’t panic. The Fujifilm X-T4 is still being manufactured. But if you prefer the silver version, maybe it might be a good thing to buy it sooner rather than later. I expect the first silver kit versions to slowly run out of stock and being discontinued in the next few weeks over several stores.
A move that aligns Fujifilm with other brands, who in most cases don’t offer color variations in their mid and higher end camera range.
One of the most read articles back in 2020 here on FujiRumors was the guest post titled “The X-Pan Rebirth of Fujifilm X-Pro1“, where a reader modified his X-Pro1 into an X-Pan digital camera.
And every now and then the wish of a digital Fujifilm X-Pan camera surfaces again in the Fujifilm community such as here, here and here.
Well, today we have another request for a Fujifilm X-Pan camera coming from Pavel and shared over at his youtube channel SuperSuperka (video below).
He so severely wants a digital XPan Fujifilm camera, that he made a very nice rendering on how he imagines it to be.
He called his rendered X-Pan camera the Fujifilm TX-3, of course inspired by what Jonas Rask called “the most beautiful camera ever created“, the Fujifilm TX-1. He wrote me:
Some notes about the concept. It has GFX sensor cut in half, which gives just perfect match to Xpan proportions
Logarithmic response pixels are not commonly used, but are used in technical tasks. What they can do is to not mimic film but to have native film-like look.
Arca-swiss is the bottom of the body. No additional plates needed. OVF with phase-detect autofocus.
I used 28mm which with this sensor is a bit wider FOV then original 45mm on Xpan. Like, say, 40mm on Xpan.
Quite frankly, at this point, if Fujifilm was to adventure itself in a crafting a unique niche digital camera, then I’d personally find a digital X-Pan much more appealing over let’s say a monochrome Fujifilm X camera.
