Fujifilm X-H2 will Come, but NOT in 2020

Fellow FR-readers!

We would like to remind you that the Fujifilm X-H2 is on Fujifilm’s roadmap, but, as we already told you months ago, it is currently not scheduled for 2020.

I have not heard anything about Fujifilm anticipating the release of the Fujifilm X-H2 since our original rumor was posted, so for now I stick “not in 2020“.

And if you don’t trust me, then trust Fujifilm managers, who already said here, that both lines, the X-H and X-T, will continue to exist in future.

Fujifilm X-T4 and X-H2 Leaked Details: Would it Be Madness to Merge both Lines? – VOTE POLL

Fujifilm Madness?

Would it be madness?

Take Fujifilm’s most successful camera line, the X-T1, X-T2 and X-T3, which remained intact in form and function for 6 years now, and annoy all Fujifilm X-T line lovers, by changing it.

Why do I say this?

Well, because if Fujifilm was to cancel the X-H line (as rumored by our forum member Jason here), this is what would happen, in an attempt to merge both lines into one.

Fujifilm would need an X-T4 with bigger grip (as the leaked specs would suggest), for better handling and operation with long lenses. So the sleek design of the current X-T line would have to make space to a more bulky grip.

And then there are the dials. Fujifilm X-T shooters love dials, so forget about the top LCD screen, but keep the exposure compensation dial.

The result?

A hybid camera, that would make both unhappy, X-T and X-H lovers.

Seen from this perspective, Fujifilm needs both camera lines, as this gives them design freedom.

  • X-T line – don’t change what is so successful
  • X-H line – more design freedom

This is why Fujifilm managers officially said that the Fujifilm X-H line will continue to evolve. It just needs time, as FujiRumors reported here.

Fujifilm Wisdom?

Or maybe Fujifilm would demonstrate wisdom by canceling one line, as they will never really be able to make them coexist?

Having two lines on the higher end just creates confusion.

Better bet on one horse, and send it out to battle against Sony, Canon and Nikon.

What should Fujifilm do with X-T and X-H line?

Don’t Panic, Fujifilm X-H2 is on Fuji’s Roadmap!

Fellow FR-readers!

There will be a Fujifilm X-H2.

The only question that I have to figure out now, is not “if” but “when“. And apparently it will still take rather long to see X-H2 coming.

And if you don’t trust me, then trust Fujifilm managers, who already said here, that both lines, the X-H and X-T, will continue to exist in future.

Fujifilm X100V, X-H2, X-T4 and Any Other Fuji Camera will NOT Have X-Pro3 Hidden Screen – TRUSTED SOURCE

Fujifilm X100V

Let’s keep it short and clear: the Fujifilm X100V will NOT have the hidden LCD screen of the Fujifilm X-Pro3.

And to be even more clear: the Fujifilm X-Pro3 will be the ONLY Fujifilm camera with the hidden screen for the years to come. It’s unique to X-Pro3. Whatever comes, Fujifilm X-H2, Fujifilm X-T4, X-T40, X-E4, X100V, any GFX camera and more…. none of them will have the hidden screen.

Fujifilm X-Pro4? Well, I don’t know if it still has the hidden screen. As it is scheduled for 2023 anyway, I think not even Fujifilm itself knows at this point.

I hope that was clear enough. ;)

Fujifilm X-H2 Mockup – Ideas to Set it Apart from Fujifilm X-T4

Fujifilm X-H2

Fujifilm hinted it already: both lines, the X-H and X-T, will continue to exist in future.

There is just one thing Fujifilm needs to figure out: how to differentiate them enough!

An idea comes from FR-reader Brad, who made a Fujifilm X-H2 mockup for us. Here is what he wrote to me:

  • Video centric X-A7 16:9 fully articulating screen (I’m ok with the current double-tilt too, but 16:9 would be nice).
  • If Fuji wants each of their camera lines to have a unique voice, then the X-H2 would have less photography controls and more video. So I removed the mode dial and added the Nikon Z6 video switch. This wouldn’t work as cleanly as on the Z6, since manual controls exist up top. It’s not like they’re going to add tiny motors to the dials, but this is for dreaming.
  • Replaced AF/AE-L with AF-ON, because that’s the only one I use.
  • I hate the Fuji joystick, so I used the Z6’s

So what do you think about it? Comments and additional ideas are welcome.

Thanks Brad, and check him out at bradwooten.com and b.e.wooten Instagram (NSFW).

Release Timeline for Fujifilm X-T4, X-H2, X-T40, X-Pro3, X100V, X-E4, X-T200 and X-A6 Based on Fuji’s Previous Camera Releases

Fujifilm Timeline

Almost 1 year ago, I published a release timeline of Fujifilm cameras, and, based on that timeline, I made guesses on when a successor could come.

Turns out that, so far, our timeline was pretty accurate. In fact, based on Fuji’s release schedule, we predicted:

  • Prediction: X-T30 in February 2019 – Reality: January 2019 – Accuracy: 1 month off
  • Prediction: X-Pro3 in January 202o – Reality: around October 2019 – Accuracy: about 3 months off

Now I thought it’s time to update our timeline, because:

  • some cameras have already been announced (X-T30) and others will be announced soon (X-Pro3)
  • this time we include cameras not listed last time (X-T200 and X-A6)

Down below you find the updated release timeline for:

The X-T4/X-H2 Grain of Salt Corner

Keep in mind that this camera replacement timeline is NOT based ON RUMORS, but on past camera release schedule of Fujifilm.

Hence, take it with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-T4 release. The timing between X-H1 and X-T3 has proven to be very damaging for X-H1 sales, so there might be some changes here.

In fact, according to our sources, the Fujifilm X-H2 might not even come in 2020! But I want to wait for more details and confirmations, before changing the below timeline.

Speaking of X-H2 and X-T4, the FujiRumors community has voted on various Fujifilm X-H2 and X-T4 release timing options. Check out the poll results here (I voted for the option currently on the 3rd position).

Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-T4: How Should Fujifilm Time their Release? POLL

Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-T4

A Fujifilm manager recently said it here: the Fujifilm X-H line will continue to evolve separately from the Fujifilm X-T line.

To me that makes sense, both lines appeal to different type of photographers, and both lines have all the potential to be successful in future.

But the big question is: in order for both the X-H2 and X-T4 to be successful, how should Fujifilm time their release?

The FujiRumors community is pretty split on this topic, so I thought I launch a poll to see what most of you guys think is strategically the best move. And keep in mind, as proven multiple times, Fujifilm manager do read you! So, vote wisely and comment elegantly ;).

NOTE: Fujifilm has said multiple times that one of their goals is to bring IBIS into smaller cameras, so I guess this means they will try to give us a Fuji X-T4 with IBIS. Keep this in mind when voting.

Fujifilm Manager: “70% of GFX Users Came from Full Frame. X-H and X-T Line Will Both Evolve in Future” – Hope for Fujifilm X-H2

Fujifilm GFX100

Fujifilm Channel X has published an 45 minutes interview with Fujifilm managers from Fujikina 2019. See the video above (sadly not so good audio quality) and a summary down below.

Fujifilm GFX 100: B&H Photo, AmazonUS, Adorama, Focuscamera, CalumetDE, ParkcamerasUK, JessopsUK, PCHstore

The Market

  • Fujifilm GFX100 market is not the traditional medium format market
  • GFX 50 already aimed to amateur customers in addition to high-end photography
  • 70% of Fujifilm GFX 50R/S buyers come from full frame. So not only people switch from Hasselblad and Phase One to GFX, but also FF users
  • the GFX system expanded the larger format market, and GFX100 will continue to expand it
  • GFX100 should expand market also towards movie shooting photographer

The GFX100 strenghts

  • compared to full frame, GFX system has better image quality in terms of ISO performance, dynamic range and resolution
  • traditionally large format camera (including film) are big and for tripod use, but GFX system is smaller, and GFX100 has also IBIS, hence less need for tripod
  • GFX100 is about autofocus, mobility, quality

EVF

  • Fujifilm GFX 50 EVF works on GFX100, but GFX100 EVF on GFX50 will not work
