Fujifilm Manager at CP+: “We Will Release Many XF and GF Mirrorless Lenses This Year, So Please Look Forward to It”

Fujifilm General Manager Takashi Ueno said at the virtual CP+ convention 2021 that Fujifilm will release “many mirrorless X and GFX lenses this year“.

Well, the start in 2021 was fantastic, with the following three lenses launched:

But that is apparently not enough for 2021.

FujiRumors already told you to forget about the XF35mmF1.4MKII. That’s rocksolid multiple confirmed from several trusted sources.

What will still come for sure are:

We also know Fujifilm is also working on a Fujinon XF150-600mm, but that one should come in 2022. Of course FujiRumors is investigating and making constant progress on the rumor front, so expect updates soon.

In the meantime, down below is a summary of Fujifilm’s CP+ online talk.

Focus on Glass: Fujinon XF 70-300mm Takes Advantage from APS-C Size and FujiXPassion Review

I like the Focus on Glass series of Fujifilm: short, to the point, with a right mix of quick technical insights as well as field on experience by photographers.

And while today we will focus on the brand new Fujinon XF70-300mmF4-5.6 lens, which I believe will become a terrific best seller for Fujifilm, we invite you to check out also the previous Focus on Glass episodes:

And here is what they have to say about the Fujinon XF70-300mmF4-5.6:

Final Release Dates for Fujifilm GFX100S, GF80mmF1.7, Fujifilm X-E4, XF70-300mm and XF27mmF2.8 R WR Published

We all were a bit worried after Fujifilm told us about the high GFX1000S pre-orders, that there could be delays when it comes to shipping.

But the good news is that Fujifilm Japan published the official release date (for Japanese market) for each item announced back on January 27, and it looks like they will all start shipping as planed.

In Japan and EU the GFX100S should ship in late February (02/25), whereas according to major US retailers, we will have to wait until March 11 for the GFX100S shipment in the US.

Fujinon XF 70-300mm F4-5.6 Hands On Reviews

We have published follow up coverage to the GFX100S here, the GF80mmF1.7 here, X-E4 and XF27mmF2.8 R WR here.

There is only one missing from the big annoucnements we had on January 27: the lovely Fujinon XF70-300mm f/4.5.6.

So far it seems Fujifilm has crafted a very fine, small and affordable lens. And since I get this questions often: yes, it works with the Fujifilm XF Teleconverters!

Remember, another long superzoom is coming in 2022: the Fujinon XF150-600mm!

Fujicast Interview with Fujifilm Manager: Talking Breakthrough Fujifilm X-H2, X-E4 the Last 26 MP (?), Open Lens Protocols, X80 and More!

The latest Fujicast episode is now online, covering all the current Fujifilm announcements with Fujifilm’s UK Marketing Manager, Andreas Georghiades (GFX100S, GF80mmF1.7, X-E4, XF70-300mm and XF27mmMKII.

But as there is a podcast listener question corner, you can figure out that many questions gravitate towards future Fujifilm products and more. So they touch on Fujifilm X-H2, the open lens protocols, the X80 and more.

Kevin Mullins also speculates that the X-E4 might be the last X series camera featuring the 26MP X-Trans sensor and the manager says that there is indeed not much left to update with the 26MP sensor.

However, nobody knows what the first camera with a new sensor will be. There is still an X-T40 waiting to see the light of the day for example, which is such a loved line, that Fujifilm should definitely continue it in my opinion.
