Go Fuller than Full Frame? This Might be the Right Time!

For the first time ever, almost 2 years after its launch, there is a significant rebate the stellar Fujifilm GFX100S in USA, Canada and Europe (full list below). And knowing I am a GFX100S user myself, fellow FR-readers started to ask me if I can recommend the GFX100S.

I personally use the Fujifilm GFX100S a lot when I hike the mountains around my home (as you can see from the IG posts I will share below). And I also took the GFX100S with me on some multi-day mountain hikes, as I reported here:

I also take lots of images of my family with it, especially using the GF 50mmF3.5 (now $300% off).

Look guys, you know better than me that there are compromises to make no matter which camera you pick.

  • The GFX100S is small for what it is (even smaller than some FF mirrorless cameras)
… but you do get generally smaller cameras and lenses with smaller sensor cameras
  • The GFX100S is affordable for what it is (even more affordable than some FF mirrorless cameras)
… but you do generally get more affordable cameras with smaller sensor cameras
  • The GFX100S is fast and feature rich for what it is,
… but you do get faster AF speed and more video features on smaller sensor cameras

But if the one compromise you don’t want to make is on image quality, then gor for the GFX system.

Because whatever system you currently use (M43, APS-C or FF), once you shoot with GFX, you’ll always come home with at least a hand-full of images that amaze you due to the sheer power the Fujifilm GFX100S demonstrates in those files.

I guess that’s also the reason why the SonyAlphaRumors guy himself owns the GFX100S as you can see here.

So, if you want to shoot fuller than full frame with a sensor about 70% larger than FF, if you want to know that in your hands you are holding the one camera, that will give you the best results and the biggest flexibility in the trickiest light conditions, the look no further: no camera will be able to handle it better than the Fujifilm GFX100S does.

Only some of those monstrous digital MF cameras can beat the Fujifilm GFX100S, but good luck hiking with those… if you can afford them!

Your First Fujifilm camera was… Vote Now

We Are the 5.9%

Marketing research data says we Fujifilm X and GFX shooters make up 5.9% of the entire digital camera market.

So we are certainly not the top dog in the industry, but it is still better than the 0.1% we were back when I started this blog over 10 years ago.

Slowly, but steadily, Fujifilm was able to carve out its niche and some cameras even got some decent mainstream success, leading Fujifilm to be the third most popular mirrorless camera manufacturer ahead of Nikon.

And this number, 5.9%, made me think… how did it all start for you?

I mean, which one was your first Fujifilm camera that you bought intrigued by the X/GFX system and hence made you become part of those 5.9%?

If you want to satisfy my curiosity, then you can vote the survey down below.

Save Big on Tamron 18-300mmF3.5-6.3 and Tamron 150-500mmF5-6.7 for Fujifilm X Mount

It’s time also for Tamron to drop some holiday savings on their Fujifilm X Mount lenses.

First to mention is a $100 rebate on the Tamron 18-300 f/3.5-6.3. You can get it now for $599 instead of $699.

Another deal is on the Tamron 150-500mmF5-6.7 at AmazonUS here, but that one is available only at Amazon for now and only via US retailer Beach Camera located in Edison New Jersey. They sell it for $1,199 here and the regular price at B&H and Adorama is of $1,499. But again, I don’t know that particular retailer. All I can say is that at the moment their rating is 95% positive on Amazon.

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for Fujifilm X mount Coming November 14 at 8PM New York Time – REPORT

FujiRumors has already reported how the upcoming Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for Fujifilm X mount is already listed at some stores.

You can read the reviews about the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for Sony APS-C E-mount at B&H Photo here and at AmazonUS here.

Now, according to Nokishita, pre-orders for the Sigma 18-50mmF2.8 should start on November 15 at 10 AM (I guess Tokyo time), which would mean 8PM of November 14 in New York. The release is scheduled for December 2 (via digicame-info).

  • Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN (Fujifilm X-mount)
  • Reservation start date: November 15, 2022, 10:00 a.m. Tokyo Time – November 14 at 8PM New York time

Here in Italy, where I live, it will be 2AM. But don’t worry, I will be awake and cover the launch so you don’t miss anything.

Fujifilm X Summit Nov. 2 at 9AM New York Time: What We Know Will Come (and What I Hope)

Are you guys ready?

FujiRumors certainly is, ready to deliver you an epic announcement day on November 2 at 9AM New York time.

So what will we surely get?

I mean… X-T5… it can hardly get more exciting that this!

And yet, as we have learned from the past Fujifilm X Summit, Fujifilm always has some surprises during X summits that not even FujiRumors saw coming.

So what could Fujifilm launch that FujiRumors never rumored? (and to be clear I have no rumors about)

Well, here is what I hope for (NOT RUMOR):

  • Fujifilm X App: there are rumors and even official Fujifilm slides leaked here on FR, but I have no information on it come along with X-T5. And yet, I certainly hope for it
  • new film simulation: usually with the introduction of new sensor and processors, Fujifilm also launched new film simulations. But this did not happen with the X-H2s and X-H2. So again, I have no rumors, but I hope Fujifilm will give us one on the X-T5
  • richer lens roadmaps: if you take a look at the latest X mount roadmap and GF mount roadmap, they are very poor on future lenses. I hope Fujifilm will release new roadmaps richer in lenses
  • Kaizen Firmware: given the huge effort put into completely re-writing their autofocus algorithm starting introducing a massively improved face/eye AF and subject/animal detection, it is no surprise that there hasn’t been much time and money left to update older cameras with the latest features. But now that it is done, I hope Fujifilm will reassure us that more Kaizen firmware will come in future and that they will make a statement about it during the X summit
  • Mock-ups: what Fujifilm likes to do is to show mock-ups of upcoming lenses. And despite FujiRumors already having made a size comparison of the XF8mmF3.5 with other Fujinon lenses and sort of hands on mock-ups of the upcoming Tilt Shift G mount lenses are already to be seen at BHphoto here, I hope they will show us the latest mock-up version
    Fujinon GF 110mm f/5.6 Tilt-Shift Lens
    Fujinon GF 30mm f/5.6 Tilt-Shift Lens

So, that’s my top 5 hopes. And what about you?

LEAKED: Fujinon XF30mm f/2.8 Macro Price and Main Specs

  • Size: φ60 x 69.5mm
