ePHOTOzine Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR Review: “Credit to Fuji’s Design Team: Superb Performance in Compact Package”

As a long time owner of the original XF27mmF2.8 (which I have sold to get the new version with aperture ring), I have always admired how good of a lens Fujifilm was able to make in such a small package.

This is why I was very happy when my sources told be the optical formula of the new XF27mm f/2.8 R WR will remain the same of the old version.

The only thing I always wanted was an aperture ring. And when Fujifilm finally made it come true, I remember how on the first day the lockdown was lifted, I jumped in my car and drove straight to the camera store, where I was able to grab the very last available sample of this lens (and it has never come back in stock since then).

For me, it’s a truly enjoyable lens to use. And the 40mm equivalent focal length is the sweet spot for me. A bit wider than my XF35mmF1.4 which I find useful at times, but also a bit more compressed look over my XF23mmF1.4 (a true workhorse at the recent wedding I shot).

It now lives its life glued on X-E3.

And to everyone having one of those on pre-order, be patient, you’ll be rewarded with a little but awesome performer that is very joyful to use.

And just to confirm how good of a lens this is, look at what ePHOTOzine wrote in their latest Fujinon XF27mm f/2.8 R WR review and check out the customer reviews

Fujifilm GFX100S In (Low) Stock at Adorama

A limited number of Fujifilm GFX100S cameras is now in stock at Adorama here. So far they always sold out rapidly and stores struggled to get back stock, so if you want one, it might be better to grab it right now.

As a happy owner of the Fujifilm GFX100S myself, I can only say that if when you press the shutter button, all you want is the best possible image quality, then look no further, the GFX100S is what will satisfy you. I only miss the X-T alike dials on it, which is why I am stunned, blown away and sincerely admire the GFX100S, but I can’t love it the same way I love my X-T4* and X-E3.

The situation looks much better for the Fujifilm GFX50SII, which is available pretty much everywhere.

How I Learned To LOVE The Fujifilm X-Trans Sensor and Get the Most Out of It… and I Can’t Believe it’s Not Film [ X-Trans Roundup ]

X-Trans Roundup

In our photographic journey, we start, we struggle, we learn, we advance, we re-consider, we get frustrated when things don’t work out and excited when we make a leap forward.

And yes, for us Fujifilm shooters, X-Trans is one of those things we had to learn to handle in our photographic journey.

And since we know that X-Trans is here to stay (the Fujifilm X-H2 will feature an X-Trans sensor – or at least one of the two X-H2’s coming), we better learn to make the most out of its strengths and be aware of possible limitations and how to work around those.

Now, you know what I think about the X-Trans sensor. If not, check out:

So yes, I love it! I love the fact that Fujifilm will keep the X-Trans sensor in their APS-C cameras. And judging from this survey, the vast majority of you guys is happy about this, too.

One of the X shooters happy with the X-Trans sensor is Edward Thomas, who, in the video linked below, explains how he learned to love the Fujifilm X-Trans sensor and what he likes about it. The key points of his video and the video itself can be found down below.

I will also share two additional videos, one about how to make the most out X-Trans files and another one with a Fujifilm film simulation recipe.

Last is a short video of me editing a heavily underexposed image taken with my X-E3 of my wife during our honeymoon in Andalusia (here is Cordoba), while were enjoying the sunset from the wonderful town of Ronda. It’s one of those pictures that should not be possible according to some, as it is only APS-C ;).
