Ok… it’s time to collect some fresh ideas for the Fujifilm Management responsible for the X-series.

So let’s sit down together and invest a bit of our time to make some suggestions to Fujifilm. I’m sure they will read them, and also the poll I’ll make later on out of your suggstions will be for sure something Fujifilm will look at.

Of course, keep your suggestions realistic (so no XF 8-300mmF2 pancake lens) and try to make 1 or 2 suggestions, not more. Share only your absolute priorities.

This continues an earlier post where I recounted how well my Fuji X-T2 served me in my diverse photographic pursuits.  Those being, landscape and street photography.  Most recently, the X-T2 worked out quite well for me in Iceland where the environment there put its weather-sealing to the test…it passed with flying colors.  But now we move on to the Continent, where my Fuji and I had to switch gears from wildness to artifice, from garden to city.  As you may suspect, with this migration comes a ton of changes in the settings.  To name a few: from low ISO to Auto, from stopping down to opening wide, and often, from auto focus to manual. Luckily these changes were not overlooked often, but they escaped my attention once, early in the first city, but it was minor and smooth sailing from there.  And so let us turn our attention from the large volcanic island, to the polished and cultured cities of Europe.

Mainland Europe

The rest of the trip consisted of seven cities in France, Italy, and Switzerland.  I know…so lucky!  As mentioned here’s where I kicked into street mode.  The primes came out, even the barely used 16mm, along with my sweet leather messenger camera bag, and some cigars.  Locked and loaded!  I think it worth mentioning a few aspects of my settings and how the Fuji X-T2 served me so well.  There are several main kinds of street shooting that I do and when I’m in a thick crowd, shoulder to shoulder, the shutter has got to be blazing fast.  This is because when people are so close, they cross the field of vision so quickly.  So I had three Auto-ISO settings that I alternated between, all having a max ISO of 6400 and default ISO of 200:

  • Min shutter = 1/60th
  • Min shutter = 1/250th
  • Min shutter = 1/500th

Catch that?  6400 baby…now that’s cookin’!  That coupled with an f/1.4 lens and you have some serious low light love going.

Paris

The City of Lights.  Paris was good to us, and yet it was at a breakneck pace.  Fortunately we had been before, so it was not so much about seeing sites, but rather enjoying people watching and eating around the Latin Quarter…and there was lots of both!  About as much as one can squeeze in to two days.

GFX ADAPTERS

Did I tell you already, that there is some awesome stuff going on at the Fujifilm GFX facebook group? ;)

Well, here is another interesting thing, spotted by GFX facebook member Issa.

He spotted images of several adapters for the Fujifilm GFX at a Chinese website, I can’t access to (only registered members can), but Issa was so nice to share them with us on the GFX facbeook page here.

The images show the following lenses adapted to the GFX (sample images are included)

I guess these are prototypes Fujifilm is currently developing (in addition to the Hasselblad H adapter that has already been launched along with the GFX). Here is the GFX facebook post that shows all the adapters .

Now that’s the good part of having a focal plane shutter… you can use any lens on the GFX and adds flexibility to the system :-)

Fujifilm Fiscal Year FY2017/3 3rd Quarter Financial Results Report… and the Unstoppable Rise of Instax

Fujifilm just published here the results for the fiscal year 2017 (3rd quarter – until December 31, 2016)

“In  the  Imaging  Solutions  segment,  consolidated  revenue  amounted  to  ¥256.4  billion  (down  5.9%  from  the  same  period  of  the  previous  fiscal  year),  due  to  the  negative  impact  of  yen  appreciation  (¥31.0  billion)  and  other factors.  Consolidated  operating  income  amounted  to  ¥28.1  billion  (up  5.9%  from  the  same  period  of  the  previous  fiscal  year),  due  to  the  recovery  of  profitability  in  each business,  though  the  negative  impacts  on  sales  from  yen appreciation were seen.

[…] The sales of instant photo systems such as the instax series and instax films, were strong especially in the United States and Europe.

In the electronic imaging field, the sales increased due to the sales of such flagship models of the mirrorless digital camera as FUJIFILM X-Pro2 and FUJIFILM X-T2 , and interchangeable lenses increased steadily.

So once again, it’s Fujifilm high-end cameras (X-T2 more than X-Pro2), but especially the Fuji Top Selling Instax Universe, to improve Fujifilm’s profitability in the imaging divison.

Fujifilm X100F, X-T20, X-T2 Graphite & XF50mm Final Release Date – PRESS RELEASE

Fujifilm just published a press release at their Japanese home page, with the final release date for the latest X-gear launched this month.

So there is a slight delay on the originally planed release date. Although it’s strange that they mention the graphite X-T2, which I hear has already started shipping. Maybe this release date is for the second batch.

The press release does not say anything about the Fujifilm GFX release date, which makes hope that there won’t be any delay.
