Fujinon XF200mmF2 OIS WR

Hey all…

I hear that the Fujinon XF200mmF2 will cost around $6,000!

Yes, I know this is a hefty price, and you can basically buy a medium format Fujifilm GFX 50S for the same money. But also consider that equivalent lenses in the CaNikon world are also not a bargain.

In fact, the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II costs $6,100 and the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II costs $5,500.

As I already told you back in September 2017 here, the Fujifilm XF200mmF2 will be compatible with the 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverter, which will give you respectively a 280mmF2.8 and 400mmF4 lens.

Attacking the Niche

I’m sure that the XF200mmF2 will be a fantastic lens, but to track my 13 years old dog, I’ll stick with my XF 55-200 ;) .

However, for professional sports photographers, this lens will be a game changer.

Overall I think it makes a whole lot of sense for Fujifilm to launch such glass.

Fujifilm already offers the vastest lens range in the mirrorless APS-C world and now they must to “attack” those niches, who need THAT particular lens, before they can switch completely to Fujifilm.

Not only XF200mmF2, but also tilt shift lenses or even ultra fast lenses like the XF33mmF1.0 come to mind.

So let us know in the comments, which “niche-glass” you think Fujifilm should launch next.

FUJIFILM Factory Visit – How Lenses & Cameras Are Made

Share

Fujifilm Factory Visit

Cinema5d had the opportunity to visit Fujifilm’s Japanese Sendai factory, where the Fujinon MK lenses, the Fujifilm X-T2, Fujifilm GFX and more Fujifilm gear is made.

They do not give us information about Fujifilm’s quality check list, how many lenses or cameras are made each day and other things. It is however always nice to take a look inside the factory, and Cinema5D definitely made a nice video out of their factory visit. Really astonishing to see that every lens is “hand made”, screw after screw.

So video-walk through the Sendai factory and see the video here on cinema5D youtube and at their website cinema5d.

Also, check out Fujifilm latest blog post “How Fujifilm Builds Strong, Quality Cameras“. They confirm that “10 percent of all packaged lenses are randomly selected, unpackaged and loaded onto a camera to ensure they’ll operate properly for customers.

And btw… I looked closely to every detail, but I don’t think I have seen a Fujifilm X-H1 in the video ;) .

We have more “factory tours” shared here on FujiRumors. Here is a list of them.

Confirmed: Better Autofocus for Fujifilm X-H1 compared to Fujifilm X-T2

Fujifilm X-H1 Autofocus

Over a month ago here, we already told you that the Fujifilm X-H1 will have an improved autofocus compared to any X-series camera currently available.

At that time, though, it was still “just” a rumor from a new source.

But now I can confirm from long time trusted sources that,

the autofocus of the Fujifilm X-H1 will be even more accurate and has better low light focusing than Fujifilm X-T2

I know some of you guys are still sceptic about the X-H1, and that’s a good thing, because once it will be announced on February 15, you will be all extremely positively surprised ;) .
