As you already read in the X-pert corner special of the X-E2, (must read, also the very interesting discussion in the comments!) “the EVF/LCD refresh rate has been significantly improved from 20 fps to 50-60 fps in low light“. What this means can be seen in the following video shared via youtube by Randall Cipriano. Randall says that “as you can see, the X-E2 has been vastly improved showing very little lag which was one of the major weaknesses of the X-E1.”

vastly improved EVF, faster AF and much more (read here) = great news :)

X-pert corner in depth First Look

In case you haven’t checked out Rico’s excellent first look at the X-E2 (I’m sure you’ll agree once you’ve read it), just click here to check it out (there are almost 200 comments at the moment with Rico answering to your questions). I highly recommend you to read it. You can support Rico’s work by purchasing his new book Mastering the Fujifilm X-E1 and X-Pro1 (and save 30% using the code FUJISAVES30 !). And continue to share the great X-pert corner X-E2 first look via google+, facebook and twitter.

You’ve read it? So here are the next ones.

Don Craig says here:

Fujifilm X-E2 sets new standard. Is it reason enough to upgrade? My conclusion is that although the X-E2 is an evolution of the Fujifilm X-cameras, the improvements in the shooting experience, along with the refinements that Fujifilm have made, has now turned the X-E2 into a want-to-have camera. This was a surprise to me. I didn’t think that I would be looking for an upgrade or a change in cameras, but I am seriously considering taking one more step in the eternal chase for the best possible shooting experience.”

Patrick la Roque‘s feedback can be read here:

“[…] as far as AF is concerned it’ll only get better: this pre-production model couldn’t make full use of the capabilities of the new hardware with the current generation of lens firmware. But my lenses were still much faster when mounted on the X-E2 and we’re bound to see even more improvements when the final product is released and everything else follows as it usually does. […] If the devil is in the details, this thing’s a demon — A good lil’ demon.”

Good morning and welcome to this early edition of Friday’s X-Pert Corner. Today’s column is all about the new Fujifilm X-E2, the successor of the popular X-E1 mirrorless system camera. Here it is:

I was able to test drive an early pre-production unit of the X-E2 for the past 4-5 weeks. Don’t worry, compact camera fans: I will soon add another First Look article on the XQ1. If you aren’t yet familiar with Fuji’s X-E family of cameras, click here to access the official product information page explaining the features and listing the full specifications of the X-E2.

The X-E2 is a camera many Fujifilm enthusiasts have been waiting for. Don’t let its almost unchanged exterior fool you: The X-E2 is an all-new camera on the inside, with object-tracking on-sensor PDAF, an almost twice as fast image processor with LMO (Lens Modulation Optimizer) support, 14 bit RAW processing, face detection, wifi networking (which is supposed to offer wireless remote control after a future firmware update) and dozens of small but important improvements that make shooting with this camera easier and more enjoyable, all without sacrificing its classic retro design and manual controls.
