Fujifilm Victim of Cyber Attack: Notice of Unauthorized Access to Fujifilm Servers

Fujifilm Attacked

Fujifilm disclosed that they have suffered a ransomware attack and hence there has been unauthorized access to Fujifilm servers. Apparently their servers have been infected by Qbot trojan malware.

Ransomware is a type of malicious software cyber criminals use to block you from accessing your own data by encrypt the files on your system. The hackers will hold your data “hostage” until the demanded ransom is paid.

This is becoming a serious problem for companies, who often have to pay attackers lots of money in bitcoin (basically impossible to track if the attackers makes no errors) to avoid the data being lost forever or shared with other companies.

And how can companies be sure that if they pay the data won’t be shared anyway?

Well, there is a reliability ranking even for those criminal hackers! Companies can see if the hacker kept his word in the past or not.

As I am Italian, I can speak for my country, where these type of crimes saw a raise from 2019 to 2020 of 246%.

What Fujifilm did today is different compared to what many other companies do, as denouncing the hackers would mean to admit the companies’ own vulnerability. Fujifilm was more upfront today, and openly disclosed the attack.

To stop these kind of attacks, companies must absolutely improve their cyber security and bitcoin should be regulated stronger.

ePHOTOzine Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 Review: Impressive Chromatic Aberration Control, Outstanding Sharpness, Superb Image Quality

When the ultra fast Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 was launched, some noticed a minimal sign of fringing when pixel peeping into images to ultra detailed pixel level. Something to worry about?

Apparently not.

According to ePHOTOzine, who just published its full technical review, the GF80mmF1.7 is able to contain chromatic aberration extremely well. They write:

CA (Chromatic Aberration) is also very impressive, centrally being close to zero as we stop down slightly. The edges are also kept well under control.

I did play around with the GF80mmF1.7 of my close friend too (he sold all his Nikon Z gear for the GFX system) and quite frankly it’s a stunning performer in terms of optical quality.

Down below you can see the Pros and Cons of the ePHOTOzine review.

ePHOTOzine Fujifilm X-E4 Review: “You Can’t Deny How Beautiful it Looks!”

I always told you that Fujifilm X-E line cameras are Fujifilm’s best looking cameras (after the X100 line cameras).

Now this is official, as ePHOTOzine writes in their review.

one thing you can’t deny is how good it looks

I owned all X-E cameras (except for the mysterious X-E2S, still today I wonder if it was worth for Fujifilm to release a new camera just for single AUTO button). And if I would not yet own the X-Trans IV Fuji X-T4, I’d grab the X-E4 immediately, as I love the hidden LCD screen on the X-E4. But there must a be reasonable limit to the gear I buy ;).

Now I put all my hope in a Fujifilm X-E5 with newer sensor that keeps the hidden screen. For that one, I’ll sell my X-E3 and X-T4.

Back to the review. ePHOTOzine ends up highly recommend the Fujifilm X-E4. Here are their Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Beautiful styling and looks
  • Most affordable 26mp Fujifilm camera
  • Compact and well-made body
  • Great image quality and noise performance
  • High-speed AF and continuous shooting
  • Wide range of X-mount lenses

Cons:

  • Exposure compensation dial easily knocked
  • Lacks of in-camera IS, and no digital IS for video
  • Fewer controls, and lack of grip without the accessory pack
  • Small buttons

The Resolution King Fujinon XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR in Stock at BHphoto and Amazon

The Fujinon XF18mmF1.4 recently got Gold Award.

It is optically close to perfect, with sharpness being definitely its super-power. In fact, Fujifilm itself said that with this lens they did focus on resolution to make it fit for “future higher resolution cameras” (aka Fujifilm X-H2).

I know, some might say that lenses are more than just sharpness. And I get the point. I mean, I totally love my XF35mmF1.4, which probably isn’t the sharpest Fujinon X mount lens out there, but has an overall vibe in the images that some describe as “magical”, and indeed, it took some of my favorite images ever.

But if what you need is the ultimate sharpness, then look no further, as the Fujinon XF18mmF1.4 might just be what you were looking for.

Hold on a second… there was one thing I wanted to say.

Oh, right, the lens itself is now in stock at BHphoto here and AmazonUS here. Still backordered at Adorama here and Focuscamera here.

Fujifilm GFX Evolution: Leaving Perfection for…

ZP productions tested the GFX100S and GF80mmF1.7. He loves both, and owns both.

But there is one note he makes.

He says that when Fujifilm launched the GFX system a few years ago, it had sheer perfect lenses. But he noticed that with the latest lens releases, Fujifilm traded in a bit of that perfection to release less perfect, smaller and more affordable lenses.

In this context, he compares the GF110mmF2 to the GF80mmF1.7, the first one being expressions of Fuji’s perfection, the second one, while still being excellent and he actually totally loves to shoot with it, just not being just as perfect as the GF110mmF2.

I’ll make a summary down below of his 17 minutes long video below and would love to hear what you guys think about it.
