IMPORTANT UPDATE: X-T4 is with older firmware and not with firmware 1.02, as imaging resource told me.

Imaging Resource has compared the IBIS performance of the following 4 cameras:

It is unclear if the Fujifilm X-T4 was used with the very recent firmware 1.02, which hugely improved IBIS performance.

Down below you can find the video and a summary of the results.

In short: while MFT cameras still are the top, the Fujifilm X-T4 holds up surprisingly well, whereas the Sony falls clearly behind all of them.

IBIS Showdown (Video + Summary)

Handheld panning – 24 fps

  • all handle the situation with relative ease [admin: but if you ask me, the Sony falls behind all the others]

Smooth driving vehicle – 24 fps

  • for the most part, all cameras handle the situation well

Strolling down the road – 24 fps

  1. Panasonic GH5 is the smoothest
  2. Olympus EM 1 III

He does not comment further, but when you see the video, you will see that the Fujifilm X-T4 works quite well too and the Sony A6600 is the worst of all.

Following a bicycle from a bicycle – 60 fps

  • Panasonic, Olympus and Fujifilm all do a good job
  • Sony is ok, but is the worst of the bunch

Bumpy golf cart on a smooth road – 24 fps

  1. Olympus EM 1III
  2. Fujifilm X-T4
  3. Panasonic GH5
  4. Sony A6600

Bumpy golf cart on a smooth road – 60 fps

  1. Olympus, Panasonic and Fujifilm handle it well
  2. Sony A6600 not really able to handle the up and down movements

Bumpy golf cart on a bumpy bridge – 60 fps

  1. Olympus EM 1III
  2. Fujifilm X-T4 and Panasonic GH5 do fairly well
  3. Sony A6600

Bumpy golf cart on a bumpy bridge, not handheld, but the cameras are placed on the golf cart, absorbing all of the bumps  – 24 fps

All cameras have some difficulties to handle the massive bumps

  1. Olympus EM 1III clearly the smoothest
  2. Fujifilm X-T4 and Panasonic GH5
  3. Sony A6600

Overall Results

  1. Olympus EM 1III
  2. Panasonic GH5 (best for walking)
  3. Fujifilm X-T4 (handles handheld panning and smooth driving scenes well, not as good as the MFT cameras for walking, but still usable)
  4. Sony A6600 (can handle only easy panning if smooth enough, but jumps around as soon as condition get a bit more bumpy)
