Decrypting Fujifilm Manager Statement: “No other Camera Platform more Suitable to Have both 5th Gen Sensors than X-H Series”

I’ve re-watched the Fujifilm X Summit, and right at the end I noticed a sentence that I think we have to investigate further what it could mean.

When talking about the two new 5th generation X-Trans sensors, the 26MP stacked sensor and the 40MP non-stacked sensor, that will both be featured into the X-H line, the manager says:

and there is no other camera platform more suitable to have them both than the ‘X-H” Series

I did try to wrap my head around this sentence to try to get what he really meant. I see the following options:

  1. It means that only the X-H line will offer both 5th generation sensor options as other platforms are not so suitable “to have them both“. As a consequence to this, all other camera lines will get either one or the other sensor (but not both)
  2. It means that since the X-H line is the most suitable of all, it will be the first line to get both 5th generation sensors, and other camera lines that might eventually also feature both options will come only after the Fujifilm X-H2S and Fujifilm X-H2

Alleged Fujifilm X-H2S Sony Sensor IMX671 Now Online Promises Future Great High-Speed Performance

Somebody is right now sending some Sony sensor specs to all possible websites. And of course we received it too.

An APS-C format stacked sensor, dubbed the IMX671-AAPH, appears to be a public version of the sensor used in the X-H2S.
This is a sensor that allows for high speed readout without DRAM, the same architecture as the IMX472 in the Olympus OM-1.
Perhaps Fujifilm can achieve greatness in high-speed photography in the future.

Fujifilm X-H2 HR 40MP will have Exactly Same Body of Fujifilm X-H2S

There is a question I get very often these days via email but also in the comments here on FujiRumors. Does the X-H2 HR have the same body of the X-H2S HS?

Well, in regards to the Fujifilm X-H2 HR body, Fujifilm will do what in my opinion makes most sense (for R&D reasons): they will use exactly the same body of the Fujifilm X-H2S and just put a different sensor inside.

I know some will be disappointed that also the Fujifilm X-H2 will have a PSAM dial, but here are two positive aspects of that:

In fact, I am working on so many rumor fronts right now. One of them of course being the Fujifilm X-H2 40MP, but the eye of FujiRumors is also watching beyond that already. ;)

Fujinon XF 60mm f/2.5 Macro OIS Patent Spotted

A patent has been registered by Fujifilm that shows a Fujinon XF 60mm f/2.5 Macro OIS. Digicame-info, who spotted the patent and reports here, writes:

There are several examples with different lens configurations, but all of them are macros of 60mm f/2.5 and include an anti-vibration lens group (OIS). The focusing lens (GF1, GF2) moves internally, so it’s inner focus. Will one of these examples be the successor to the current XF60mm f/2.4 R?

You know what I think about patents. In 10 years of blogging I have shared hundreds of those on FR, and maybe only one became real (and I think even that one, we rumored it before the patent even surfaced).

I say it, because people are still desperately waiting for the Fujinon XF 300mm F4 and XF 500mm F5.6, which I warned you already are nowhere near to come (if ever).

Patents are concepts written on paper, and they remain such in 99% of the cases. So please don’t put too much hope in any of them.

Fujifilm has a new Macro in the works, but it’s the XF30mmF2.8 Macro here. And they have also a MKII lens to come this year, but it’s the XF56mmF1.2 MKII here.
