Given how well the Nikon D500 performed in last year’s test, this was a much closer result than we expected. However, the Fujifilm X-T2 consistently turned in better images with better detail and less noise in all the situations we put it in. The inclusion of the focus-selector joystick helped both in terms of selecting focus points and with navigation of menus, letting it bridge the gap in usability compared to the competition. And while it doesn’t have the biggest buffer, the ability to go for 42 frames at 14 fps is certainly sufficient when you add the scary accuracy of the camera’s autofocus system.
It’s also able to produce 4K videos with support for output to external monitors and audio monitoring, making a better all-rounder. The support for dual cards also gives it an advantage over the A6500 for professionals, as it allows for immediate in-camera backup of your images. Compared to the D500, it’s also about S$400 cheaper while offering the same level of weather sealing and robustness, so with all the right boxes checked, we declare the Fujifilm X-T2 the winner of this shootout.
However, while the reports are out there, and we reported about them, there are also many, who do not have any kind of issue, and they keep up sharing fantastic work every minute at our GFX group… non stop!
It is my pleasure to invest a few hours today, to go through the latest images, pick out the most liked ones for you and make a blog post out of them. All this beauty has to be shared :)
But before we share the images, here are a few links, reviews and more, that you might be interested to check out.

Fujifilm has postponed the release of X RAW STUDIO for Windows from late January to “end of February 2018“, as you can see here.
Thanks to the FR-reader for the information. It’s guys like you, who help me to systematically break all the news first here on FujiRumors… keep it up! :)
What is X RAW STUDIO?
X RAW STUDIO is a free software, that allows you to make basic adjustments to your image on your computer using the in-camera processing software (the internal RAW Converter).
Do I use X RAW STUDIO?
I have the software, but I don’t use it, because once I am on my computer, I directly load my images into Lightroom/Iridient. However, if you are looking for a free solution to slightly edit your images on the bigger computer screen instead of in the camera, then the X RAW STUDIO could make sense for you.
Where X RAW STUDIO beats the In-Camera Conversion
To be clear, the results using the camera or the computer are the same. You always use the very same Fujifilm processing algorithm.
But there is one thing, that X RAW STUDIO makes better than the internal RAW converter, and that strangely nobody mentioned until now: you see all the adjustments you make in real time!
If you convert your images in camera, then you must blindly adjust all your settings, then process the image by clicking the Q button, and only at the end you can see how your changes affect the image. With X RAW STUDIO, every single time you make an adjustment, you see the change immediately on your computer screen.
I would like the possibility to see my changes in real time also if I convert my images using the camera.
Where the In-Camera Conversion beats X RAW STUDIO
For me, the internal RAW Conversion is all about “on field” use. I take an image, slightly adjust it in camera, and then maybe load it on my phone and upload it on social media.
Or I’m back in the train from a day of shooting, and while getting home I play around with my images using the internal RAW converter.
Once home and on my computer, I don’t see any use of the internal RAW converter anymore. I have Lightroom, Iridient, Luminar, Picktorial and enough RAW converters to take my time to work more seriously on my files.
