[:: UPDATE :: pocket-lint corrected the sentence and now says:  “An update to bring such features to both the X100 and X100S models hasn’t been confirmed – but we wouldn’t entirely rule out the possibility.”]

ORIGINAL POST:

Pocket-lint put its hands on the brand new X100T… and they are “blown away” by it. The electronic rangefinder viewfinder, the real time parallax correction, the sexy look…

But there was one sentence that grabbed my attention more than any other:

In addition there’s a new Classic Chrome Film Simulation mode and 1/32,000th sec electronic shutter that are new to the series. A firmware update will see these made available in both X100 and X100S models soon.”

Wishful thinking or did a Fuji-rep drop this information into conversation? Is it possible that even the almost 4 years old classic X100 will get such a big firmware update? Or did pocket-lint simply confuse it with the upcoming X-T1 firmware?

work in progress ;),

Instax Rules Them All: massive sales of Fuji’s instax film. Instax Cameras sell better than Fuji X-T1 and Sony A7r!

 photo bes_zps7d449a0a.jpg

Who said that film is dead?
Who said that instax cameras are dead?
And tell me, who said that Fujifilm makes beautiful cameras ;-)?

The demand for instax film is very high, especially in Asia. In fact it is so high that there is not much instax Film left for N.America and if it runs out of stock it could need a couple of moths before stores will be ready to ship the next batch of film.

Instax are winners! That’s why Fujifilm continues to develop new models. The latest one is the new INSTAX WIDE 300 camera, launched along with the X100T and graphite Fujifilm X-T1. My personal favorite is still the Instax Mini Neoclassic 90, launched about a year ago.

The success of the Instax cameras pushes, at the same time, the sales of Instax Film. And the earnings are used for developing the X-line, at least according FR-reader “rf”, who said in the comments: “I was talking with one of the Fuji Guys at an event a while back and he confirmed that Instax is where Fuji is making all their money in photography and it is in fact fueling the development cost of the X cameras.

But also X-shooters could have a good reason to buy Instax Film. In fact, you can connect the latest Fuji X cameras directly to the Instax SHARE Smartphone Printer SP-1 and print your shots just a few seconds after you’ve pressed the shutter button… btw, Fujifilm, direct Instax Printer support would be a nice feature to have also on my “old” X-E2. Time for a little bit of Kaizen.

So, APS-C? Full Frame? Medium Format?… no, it’s Instax that spanks them all, Zack ;-)!

cheers,

NEW shutter on the graphite Fujifilm X-T1… but don’t worry, the black will get the the electronic shutter too!

 photo asdasd_zps97a1afc6.png

A French FR-reader spotted this comment made by Guillaume d’Ambre-City (who claims to work for Fuji and to be under NDA) at the Fuji France facebook page. He says (translated by the French FR-reader):

“Don’t worry they’ll do it [admin: introduce the 32,000 shutter speed to the black X-T1 via firmware]. The shutter is new on the Graphite but on the Blacks the update will work its trick. The EVF shuts down whilst taking the picture, the shutter opens and the sensor sends what it sees to the SD card instead of the EVF. I cannot go into more details (I work for Fuji and I am under NDA) but again the update will allows us to shoot at those crazy speed, it’s coming !!!!”

Also the Fuji Guys, Fuji’s official X-T1 graphite press release, and previously some of my sources, confirmed that the electronic shutter will come via firmware update. I hope this post has dissipated also the last doubts I could still read in the comments. So both, the silver and the black X-T1 will feature an electronic shutter in future. Just keep a formatted SD-card ready for December, when the new firmware will be released.

Keep up following Fujirumors also via facebook, google+, RSS-feed and twitter… Photokina has yet to come!

cheers,

MESSAGE TO A SOURCE

Sorry to have to post this in on FR, but since it’s an anonymous source with nick-name, there is no other way to contact it for me. Btw, this source confirms the existence of the 56mmAPD.

To the source: First off: thanks for telling me the name X100T :-). Since now, always when digicame-info leaks images of a product (in this case the 56APD), it means that an announcement is imminent. Apparently he always gets images just a few days before the announcements of new gear. Also, the release in November should be correct. Now digicame-info says December… close enough. If you want, create a fake email account and contact me at fujirumor [at] gmail.com (and use your nick-name). Maybe it’s good if we talk via email, if you want. I can’t obviously share any detail that could unveil the identity of other sources, but I could explain you better why I think that the November/December release is correct.
