Samsung will Supply APS-C Sensors to Fujifilm, Report says

To be clear: this is not a rumor by FujiRumors, but it has popped up at the Korean page clien here (found via mirrorlessrumors). It says (google translated):

“It is developed for Samsung’s NX2, and Fuji will receive APS-C sensor, which has been discontinued due to the merger of divisions.

In the case of Fuji, it was said that it was delivered to the sample, and the technology developed in cooperation with Fuji also goes in. (It seems to say that Fuji and Isocell plus recently collaborated.)

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if true, I think this would be a refreshing news for the entire photography industry, since Samsung definitely has the power and know-how to compete with Sony when it comes to sensor quality.

Remember that Samsung was the first to offer a BSI sensor with full phase detection coverage on its fantastic Samsung NX1.

We already reported that Samsung developed with the help of Fujifilm a new ISOcell Plus sensor, which allows better pixel isolation and hence improves light sensitivity and color fidelity.

BREAKING: Fujifilm GFX 100S Development Announcement on September 25 at 07:30 AM New York Time

Trusted sources just told to FujiRumors, that the Fujifilm GFX 100S development announcement will take place on the same day of the Fujifilm GFX 50R announcement, hence September 25 at 07:30 AM New York time.

“Development announcement” means we won’t get the specs (but we already know it will feature the BSI 100MP Sony sensor), however, you will see mockups and maybe even working prototypes of the Fujifilm GFX 100S.

As we already told you back in December 2017, the Fujifilm GFX 100S is rumored to be definitely more expensive than the Fujifilm GFX 50S.

So, this rumor ends here, but it’s not over yet :)

Fujifilm GFX 50s body (save $650): BHphoto, Adorama, AmazonUS

New Fujinon GF lenses

I have no rumors about it, but I guess that along with the Fujifilm GFX 100S and Fujifilm GFX 50R, we might also see some new GF lens announcements and maybe even a new GF lens roadmap.

In fact, according to the internal Fujinon GF lens roadmap we leaked back in April 2017, Fujifilm has still the following lenses in the pipeline:

  • Fujinon GF 100-200mm F4.5-5.6
  • Fujinon GF 35mm F2.8
  • Fujinon GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5

The leaked roadmap says, that Fujifilm had to decide between the GF 100-200 or the GF 20-36mm for 2018, and at this point I believe GF 100-200 is more likely, with the GF 20-36 to be postponed to 2019. But that’s still my guess, more than a solid rumor.

The Fujifilm GFX 50R will be announced September 25th at 07:30 AM York time. That’s when Fujifilm has its press conference ahead of photokina.

Let’s start with the price.

I have it 100% confirmed by multiple trusted sources, that the Fujifilm GFX 50R will cost around $4,500. Forget the grain of salt… that’s a fact! ;)

The final price has not yet been set, but there won’t be huge variations from that “around $4,500” (the GFX 50S currently sells for $5,849 with a $650 discount).

And here is the new stuff. All trusted. No grain of salt needed.

  • 2 way tilt screen (and not 3 way, like GFX 50S or Fujifilm X-T3)
  • dual SD-card slot
  • button layout/look similar to X-E3 (joystick etc), with a few differences, such as the MCS switch on the back of the camera instead than on the front like X-E3.
  • no more “cooling box” (meaning the “brick” at the back of the LCD that the Fujifilm GFX 50S has)

Finally we will have the first rangefinder-styled Fujifilm with tilt screen :)

Fujifilm X-T3 Pre-order Available at Amazon JP – Shipping September 20

The Fujifilm X-T3 is already listed as available for pre-order at Amazon Japan. Amazon Japan also shows the new vertical grip.

The price including grip (and maybe also lens) is 295,920 Yen, which is $2,652. But don’t worry, the X-T3 body will cost less than $1,599 in USA.

They say the release date is September 20.

The announcement will be on September 6 (or September 5 in San Francisco), and you will be able to pre-order it at BHphoto, AmazonUS, Adorama.
