Fujifilm X-H1 Mini-Roundup

Also feedback from our X-H1 facebook group by Mario V. here.

First Shots & First Impressions with the X-H1…
DON’T BUY ONE…. BUY TWO!!!

1. Ergonomics… Amazing. Yes, Better with the grip with the 16-55 but still very nice without the grip.
2. Shutter Sound… What??? For a mechanical shutter that is so damn Sexy and quiet!!
3. Focus. Yes, it’s better, faster and the face and eye focus is f’ing awesome!
4. I have a Sony a7R iii and NO, I would not buy an a7 iii after having tried this. I will be ordering a second X-H1.
5. Size… Not even an issue. The ergonomics make up for the minimal size difference compared the the X-T2.
6. Low Light Focusing… Yes, snappy and fast!
7. I shot these with the 56 f1.2 which I normally don’t tend to use because I can’t hold steady for crap! With the IBIS the results were soooo much better.

Tomorrow I’ll be taking it into the studio to try it there. I can’t quite put my hands on it but this camera just functions fast. Reacts fast and the focus isn’t jumpy as I used to experience.
The face and eye auto focus feel as good as the Sony but we’ll soon find out.

CP+ 2018

The CP+ in Japan just started, and here are the inital tidbits:

Fujifilm X-H1 Development Story #7 – In Body Image Stabilization Explained

Fujifilm X-H1 IBIS Development

The 7th epsiode of the Fujifilm X-H1 development story is a highly awaited one: the development of IBIS.

And right at the start they adress one of the big questions: how does it come that in 2016 Fujifilm managers said IBIS is not compatible with X-mount, and now we have the X-H1?

The question has already been answered by Billy in a fantastic TCSTV X-H1 live stream. And now fujifilm-x confirms:

“We said in the past that there will not be an IBIS for the X Mount. We’ve said that because back then having IBIS meant compromises on the image quality. But now we need to correct the statement. The X-H1 has IBIS. We now have developed one that works without compromising on the image quality.”

As Billy told us, in order not to lose image quality and to be super precise, the whole IBIS mechanism has to be bigger compared to the one of other camera manufacturers. Billy (as well as other managers), also said that the current IBIS can’t fit into smaller bodies, but in future, with further development of their IBIS tech, they might be able to put IBIS into smaller bodies.

For now, though, the Fujifilm X-T3 is rumored not to have IBIS.

Now back to the IBIS development story.

Fujifilm X-H1 in Stock Check: BHphoto Adds Free Domke Bag and is Shipping first X-H1’s, FocusCamera Ships Tomorrow & More

The X-H1 Stock and Shipping Status

The Fujifilm X-H1 is about to ship. Here is a quick overview of the “shipping and stock status” based on reports at our X-H1 facebook group.

If you have some additional information to add, feel free to do it in the comments.

BHphoto:

BHphoto is matching Adorama’s deal, and is now also offering a free Domke bag, an all Fujifilm X-H1 purchases that include also the vertical grip.

Over at our Fujifilm X-H facebook group, some X-shooters called BHphoto, and they told them they have enough stock to fulfill all pre-orders. However, BHphoto (which will be closed for Purim holiday and re-open Friday, March 2), now changed the expected availability to Monday, March 5.

One of our X-H1 group members here, told us he received shipping notification from BHphoto and that his camera will be delivered right in time for March 1.

Adorama:

Reports at our X-H1 facebook group tell us that Adorama started charging credit cards. We expect on time delivery for most (if not all) pre-orders. Adorama will continue to ship web orders also during Purim holiday (the store will be closed, though).

Also with Adorama you get a free Domke F-803, but unlike BHphoto, which offers it (currently) for X-H1 combos that include the vertical grip, Adorama gives you the free bag with basically every combination, including X-H1 body only.

FocusCamera:

Focuscamera has the X-H1 marked in stock, with the note that shipping starts tomorrow, March 1.

AmazonUS:

Expected availability at AmazonUS is March 1. So no surprises here, too.

USA $150 X-H1 Savings:

Remember that in all stores, you get a $150 discount on X-H1 bundles. Check the out at BHphoto, AmazonUS, Adorama and Focuscamera

EU:

Still on pre-order only also at AmazonDE, AmazonUK and WexUK.

Your Local Store:

Never forget this option ;)
