Fujifilm UK offers Free 48 Hours Loan on Fujifilm X/GFX Gear (Including GFX100)… and Which Gear FujiRumors Would Rent ;)

Fujifilm X shooters living in UK are definitely lucky.

Not only they get the fastest repairs (as the EU service center is located in UK) and can visit the Fujifilm House of Photography (a worldwide Fujifilm-unique store, where you can already admire the Fujinon XF50mm f/1.0), but since this year, they also offer totally free 48 loans on basically all X and GFX gear (including GFX100).

You can access all details at fujifilm-connect.hireacamera.

I hope this is something that will get extended to other countries too.

What would I rent?

Well, for sure a Fujifilm X-Pro3, and just pass 2 days photographing with it and see how it feels to shoot with the hidden LCD screen, and without a doubt also the Fujifilm GFX100… you know, just to hide in some corner at home and pass a few hours pixel peeping and cropping like crazy ;).

In terms of lenses, I’d surely rent the XF100-400, which is something I am lusting after for some wildlife shots in my mountains and then the GF23mmF4, because, you know, with that GFX100 all you need is a wide angle lens and then you can just crop endlessly into the image.

And which Fuji gear would you like to rent?

New Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 Released, Will No Longer Damage Your Fujifilm X-Pro3

Back in May, Viltrox issued a statement that their X Mount AF lenses can damage the Fujifilm X-Pro3 and FujiRumors later on reported about a free return service Viltrox offered.

Now they are redesigning those lenses, so that they won’t damage your X-Pro3 anymore (see damage in this post).

Just a few days, Viltrox has also released a MK II version of the 85mm f/1.8. Now the updated Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 AF has been released too.

Fujinon GF 30mm f/3.5 Shipping July 22: New First Look Reviews, Fuji Guys Overview and Promo Videos

Fujifilm has just announced that the brand new Fujinon GF30mm F3.5 will start shipping on July 22.

BHphoto & Co have therefore updated their pages, and mark it as available on July 23.

It’s curious, that Fujifilm does not seem to push this lens all too much. In fact, they seem to have more quiet approach when promoting this lens. A pity, from all I could see, it is a fantastic lens. And it’s 16mm APS-C equivalent, which is a very popular focal length.

The Fuji Guys posted an unboxing and a few samples, but they could have showed a bit more love for this lens, by giving it a proper full overview. Anyway, here is what they say:

  • 24mm in full frame (16mm in APS-C)
  • weather sealed
  • sample images
  • a bit too wide for Francis taste, but gives interesting perspective
  • end

There is also not much independent reviews. Here is some:

  • bjornmoerman – First Look Review – Fujifilm GF 45-100 f4
  • kaarebak – The last of the triplets

And some Promo material:

The 16mm focal length is one of the best sellers in the APS-C world. Let’s see if the GF30mm can duplicate that success.

Fujifilm X-T4 ePhotozine Review: Impressive Camera, the Complete Package!

ePhotozine has published its full Fujifilm X-T4 review. Their conclusions:

The camera’s 26mp BSI CMOS sensor and image processing is known to produce excellent image quality, and continue to do so, with exceptional colour reproduction and dynamic range. For those looking to upgrade from an earlier X-T1, or X-T2 camera, the X-T4 offers a compelling set of features, and if you’ve ever been frustrated with battery life from your camera, then the X-T4 offers a great option for you.

The X-T4, with high-speed continuous shooting (up to 30fps), is up there with the quickest, with only the E-M1 II / III and G9 offering quicker continuous shooting (at 60fps), and in terms of video, it’s only the G9 that also offers 4K 60fps video. The switch between stills and video is a great idea, and will benefit video and stills photographers greatly.

The camera is well suited to a wide variety of photography, with good noise performance and IBIS making it better in low-light situations, great colour reproduction making it suited to portraits and other photography, and high-speed shooting further expands the camera’s appeal in particular for wildlife or sports photography.

For anyone wanting the best the X-Series has to offer, the X-T4 is it, with a great 26mp sensor, great colour reproduction, and high-quality video recording, the X-T4 has it all, including high-speed autofocus and continuous shooting. Add in-body image stabilisation, along with improved battery life, and you have the complete package.

Pros

  • 5-axis In-body image stabilisation
  • New battery gives extended battery life
  • Excellent noise performance
  • Excellent colour reproduction and options
  • Improved video recording options
  • High-speed continuous shooting

Cons

  • Increased size
  • Headphone jack via USB C
