Samyang Joins the X Mount Autofocus Lens Club and Updated List of Third Party Autofocus X Mount Lenses

Samyang has announced they will launch their first autofocus lens for Fujifilm X Mount.

With this new addition, we now have a total 8 manufacturers making now (or rumored to make soon) autofocus lenses for Fujifilm.

Considering that Fujifilm opened X mount to third parties only in 2020, that’s quite a rapid growth in third party AF lens offerings.

So let’s update our list of third party autofocus lenses for Fujifilm X mount with the latest additions.

Samyang 12mm f/2.0 Autofocus Lens for Fujifilm X Mount Coming Soon

We just reported how Samyang is about to launch their first autofocus lens for Fujifilm X Mount on October 26.

Above you can see a comparison between the blacked out teaser image of the lens and the new Samyang 12mm f/2.0 AF for Sony E-Mount. They look identical, so we can now safely assume that the lens to come will be the Samyang 12mm f/2.0 AF for Fujifilm X Mount.

The Sony version enjoys first very positives reviews at BHphoto here and AmazonUS here.

So far I have used a lot my good old Samyang 12mm f/2 manual focus lens and I trust their image quality. Hence, I am looking forward to their first autofocus X mount lens, too.

Samyang Fujifilm X Mount Autofocus Lens Coming October 26

It was Fujifilm biggest error, and they finally fixed it in 2020.

And since it’s fixed now, third party manufactures are joining the X mount with their own autofocus lenses.

The next one to come will be Samyang, who officially teased their first autofocus Fujifilm X mount lens to come October 26 earliest.

Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 to Start Shipping February 24, 2022

A few days we reported how Fujifilm officially announced the delivery delay for the Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R LM WR (as well as the LH-XF23 II) to February 2022.

Now stores started adjusting the delivery date and AmazonUS here, Adorama here as well as Moment here now indicate February 24 as new shipping date. We will soon see the same adjustments also at BHphoto here.

I am so happy with my XF35mm f/1.4 R and XF23mm f/1.4 R that I have no plans to upgrade for now. I use the XF35mmF1.4 a lot for personal stuff (from travels to family) and the XF23mmF1.4 was a trusted performer at the recent wedding I shot. I guess I would only upgrade, if in future I’d own higher resolution Fujifilm X series cameras and I’d like to take the most out of them in terms of autofocus speed and resolution.

With all that said, my favorite lenses for the X series remain the new XF27mm f/2.8 R WR and the versatile XF18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 (which once again was my workhorse at a recent hike I did).
