Fujifilm X100VI Possible Price Info Leaked

We have received the information (thanks!), that the Fujifilm X100VI will cost $1,599.

This is not yet confirmed by trusted sources, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

This looks like a bargain if you compare it to the second hand price for a Fujifilm X100V.

But if you compare it to the original price tag for the Fujifilm X100V, we notice a $200 price hike. I guess not unexpected, considering that it will have a newer 40MP sensor, a better processor and even IBIS.

Fujifilm X100VI Coming also in Limited Edition

On February 20th, apparently the question will be not only: Fujifilm X100VI silver or Fujifilm X100VI black?

Because according to our sources (thanks!), Fujifilm will launch also a limited edition Fujifilm X100VI.

This is not the first time we got limited edition X100 cameras:

Now, all those limited editions X100 cameras were always launched a while after the release of the standard versions.

However, the fact that our sources have informed us about the limited edition X100VI coming too, might indicate that, for the first time ever, the limited edition X100 could come along with the standard version.

In my opinion, the best limited X100 edition that Fujifilm has launched, was the one of the original X100, which was produced in a limited number of 10,000 samples and shipped with a couple of all-black accessories (you can read what was included here).

Now, I don’t know what Fujifilm is preparing for us this time.

I just hope it’s not a Taylor Swift limited edition Fujifilm camera ;).

Fujifilm X100V Discontinued at Several Stores: Giving Up on X100V Delivery and Getting Ready for Fujifilm X100VI?

Fujifilm Gives Up on X100V

Japanese stores are usually the first to mark items as discontinued or in general giving us indications on what’s happening with certain gear.

The X-T4, X-E4, GFX100, XF56/F1.2 and much more gear got first marked as discontinued in Japan before anywhere else on the world.

And today we get another significant hint: many stores in Japan have now completely delisted the Fujifilm X100V from their stores, such as Map Camera, Bic Camera, and Yodobashi Camera. Some stores mark it as “we finished sale“.

It looks like Fujifilm has at this point just given up delivering all those Fujifilm X100V people have still on order, at least in Japan.

And it’s not the first time: the same thing happened with the Fujifilm X-E4, where lots of people had one on order, patiently waited to get it shipped, but then out of nowhere Fujifilm canceled all orders and discontinued the X-E4.

The Last Samples

In USA the Fujifilm X100V is still listed at stores.

At Amazon you can find some samples in stock (at the time of this post), but at a higher price.

But I guess it won’t take long at this point that also US stores will mark the Fujifilm X100V as discontinued.

A Bad Move?

The X100V is huge missed opportunity for Fujifilm. They could have made tons of money with it, but just were incapable of manufacturing enough sample to meet even a small fraction of its massive demand.

To me it looks like Fujifilm just gave up on shipping the X100V at this point.

My guess (not rumor) is that they decided to use all the parts they have still available for X100V and re-use whatever they can of those pieces for the manufacturing of the Fujifilm X100VI (for example the lens, which is the same on both cameras).

I am not sure this is a smart move: I mean, give up on lots of money you can make right now in the hope to make money with another model in future. The best solution would have been to just finally solve that chronic parts issue, which other manufacturers seem to have fixed but Fujifilm still struggles a lot with.

Fujifilm FF240001 Registration Found (3rd Unreleased Product): The Rumors Go Wild with Fujifilm GFX25, GFX100SII, X-Pro4, X100 and More

On the Chinese Weibo (linked below), the patent for a third unregistered Fujifilm camera has surfaced, the FF240001.

So we are now at a total of three registered cameras that have yet to be released.

  • FF230002
  • FF230003
  • FF240001

From here all possible speculations start and you can read them down below.

How do I know these are just made up speculations and not rumors?

Well, because there are so many errors I will have to correct ;). In short here are the “rumors”.

  • What they say is Sure (+ Possible)
  • 4 to 6 cameras coming in 2024
  • GFX100SII with X-T5 retro style body and no 8K video and lack of many video functions
  • X100V successor almost done. 40 MP biggest possibility
  • Highly Reliable
  • X-Pro4 updated to X-T5 performance with normal flip screen. But another source it has still the mini-LCD on the back. New film simulation
  • X100V with IBIS and OIS and 160MP High resolition mode
  • Generally Reliable
  • X100V with 50mm mode (20MP resolution)
  • 2024 is the year of GFX, with GFX100SII and several GF lenses with good focus performance
  • GFX25 coming mainly for video shooting (multiple sources confirm this)
  • Basically Impossible
  • GFX200 with 200 Megapixel
  • X-T40 ready to be released with 40 megapixel
  • No Reliability Rating
  • X-E series update in summer 2024
  • GF 14-20mm coming
  • 2x TC for GFX

But hey, it’s online. Let’s have fun even if it’s just made up stuff :).
