the Fujifilm EF-42 is one of the Fuji flashes available at the market. More flash units are needed…. a new flash could come in spring 2015

[MESSAGE TO THE ANONYMOUS FLASH RUMOR SOURCE: Thanks, and in case you decide to share more Fuji related rumors, please quote the beautiful saying you added at the bottom of your rumor, so that I can recognize you in future.]

THE RUMOR

An anonymous source told us that:

Fuji should present a flash system for X series at the CES.”

The flash has long been rumored. A guide number of 50 or 52, HSS capability, wireless control ability… previous rumors said it will be available in spring. So, if this anonymous source is right, the flash will be announced at CES (6th to 9th of January) and available a couple of months later.

It’s an anonymous source, so, for now, take it with a grain of salt… but at least we will soon see if it’s correct.

That said, I’ll do the best I can also in 2015 to match (or exceed) the 83% correct rumor hit rate of 2014. It will be hard, but I can reach this goal with your support… so, if there is anybody out there, who has some insights to share with Fujirumors, feel free to can contact me 100% anonymously via rumor box (maybe using a nick name so that I can eventually recognize you in future) or via email at fujirumor [at] gmail.com.

The information you share will be handled in the way you prefer and published only with your permission.

“Sharpness beyond my expectations!”: Fashion/Portrait shoot with Olivia Lazer and the 16MP X-Trans Fujifilm X-T1

Share

Can the Fujifilm X-T1 do studio work? Are 16MP enough for a PRO fashion/portrait photo shoot? Well, dpreview tests confirm that “although it is “just” 16MP, thanks to the X-Trans sensor, combined with its XF range of lenses, its effective resolution is not much lower than 24MP… and no moiree, which is one of the benefits of the X-Trans in the X-T1 (for example for things like clothing with really high frequency patterns)

But technical test are one thing… what about the real world? So, dpreview gave the Graphite Fujifilm X-T1 to professional portrait & fashion photographer Olivia Lazer (she uses Full Frame DSLR for her work) and she went through the whole process, from the photo shooting to the final post processing. At the end she says:

I was surprised in terms of just the sharpness overall. The X-T1 definitely went beyond my expectation. When I’m retouching, the final step is to add sharpening, but what I noticed when I was using the Fuji, is that I didn’t apply the sharpening to any of the images.”

But the talk & test is not just about sharpness… check out the whole video on youtube here.

REMINDER

The deals expired on December 27, but there is a little time window for stores to keep them unofficially running… but just for a couple of days at best.

Anonymous source confirms XF 16-55 release on January 6th and THINKS it will cost about £900/1000

[NOTE: I’m happy that rumors published here on FR are shared elsewhere (it means you take them seriously). I would be even more happy and greatful if you’d quote FR as the source and put a link back to the original rumor. If it’s possible, thanks for that ;) .]

_ _ _

After a trusted source here, now also an anonymous source (thanks) confirms the release date for the 16-55mmF2.8 OIS WR lens, and about the price it says:

“As for price it’s gonna be less than the 50-140 and I think about £900-1000

So, while the source is sure that it will be cheaper than the XF 50-140, it seems not be 100% sure about the final retail price in UK, since it says “I THINK about £900/1000“. So take it with a grain of salt. But if true, this lens would be at least £250 cheaper than the XF 50-140, which is selling for £1250 in UK right now.

If you have read the interview with Fuji Manager Hisashi Toshi,  you’ll know that the manager said, the XF 16-55mmF2.8 will cost around 120,000 yen ($1,010). This would make it the most expensive lens in Japan after the XF 50-140 (164,000 yen = $1,381) and XF56mm APD (160,000 yen = $1,347). src – Amazon Japan

The price in Europe should be of €1049, at least according to this store here.

As always, I’ll be here on FR to make a live blogging about this lens: wherever on the world-wide web there is something worth to shared and known about this lens, I’ll let you know about it in real-time through the live blogging.

And of course, if you want to pre-order it, you can do it using one of the affiliate links featured here on Fujirumors. You’ll support this blog with no extra costs for you. Any help is appreciated.

“DSLRs REBOOTED” :: Wired.com declares Fujifilm X-T1 best new camera of 2014!

Share

 photo REBOOT_zpsf39f53f7.jpg

Wired.com declared the Fujfilm X-T1 as their favorite and best camera 2014. Here is their motivation:

Most mirrorless cameras are happy being smaller, beginner-friendly, somewhat less-capable alternatives to DSLRs. But the Fujifilm X-T1 has a different goal: to reboot the DSLR entirely. Its compact, weather-sealed body is topped by a bevy of manual controls. Inside, you get an APS-C sensor, super-fast autofocus, and an OLED electronic viewfinder. It won’t fit in your pocket, but for serious photogs, this is 2014’s best new camera.”

 photo 18mm_zpsd5aae9da.jpg

As Michael said, who passed me this deal, it’s something for the almost “too good to be true” category! Right now the XF 18mm is selling for $379 / £269 at DigitalRev (includes 1 year warranty, free shipping, and DigitaRev will cover all the duties and taxes).

The deals expired on December 27, but there is a little time window for stores to keep them unofficially running… but just for a couple of days at best. The state of the deals changes quickly. At the beginning BHphoto maintained the full rebate, while AmazonUS raised a bit the price. Then BHphoto raised the price, and AmazonUS lowered it, and now both offer the original full discount on plenty of X-gear again.
