Fujifilm X100VI: The True Question is… Get it in Black or Silver? VOTE NOW

Let’s be honest for a moment.

The true questions about the Fujifilm X100VI are not if it will have IBIS or not (which we answered), which sensor it will use (which we answered), which lens it will use (which we answered), how big it will be (which we answered), if it will have the new Reala Ace film simulation (which we answered) and not even how much it will cost (which we answered).

That’s all just distraction from the one and only true question that obsesses us these days: Fujifilm X100VI, should I get it in black or in silver?

So I thought a nice survey could help us to clear up our mind regarding this essential question.

My preference? Well, I have a theory.

I believe that Fujifilm rangefinder cameras with OVF (X-Pro and X100 line) look better in silver, whereas rangefinder cameras without OVF (X-E line) look better in all black.

I don’t know why that is, but that’s how I see it.

So, in case of the Fujifilm X100VI, I personally would go for the silver version. But honestly I’d be very happy also with the black one. I guess any version is fine that one can find in store… important is to just find it somewhere in stock :D.

But let me know what you’d take.

I prefer the Fujifilm X100VI in...

They Are Coming!

They Are Coming

They are coming.

Soon they’ll find out.

And once they do, it’s over.

They’ll cause shortages, boost prices and create endless long waiting list.

But we can beat them.

Because the TikTok crowd is not aware of the Fujifilm X100VI (yet).

They don’t follow photography forums or rumor sites.

But it won’t take long until their TikTok idol will tell them about the X100VI.

So all we have is this short time window between announcement and the moment the news of the X100VI spreads on social media.

That’s why, if you want the Fujifilm X100VI, I make a recommendation that I can’t remember I’ve ever done in 12 years of blogging: pre-order it instantly.

Beat the rush. Or risk to endlessly wait for the Fujifilm X100VI.

And remember: you can always send it back within 30 days. Or resell it at twice the price :D

But When?

Many asked me when pre-orders are taken. So here is how Fujifilm (usually) does it.

There is the X Summit. You can follow it here on FujiRumors. We will provide the live stream as well as a live summary.

During the X Summit, NO preorders are taken and NO reviews will be shared.

Once the X Summit is over (which could be anytime between 1:00AM and 2:00AM New York time), the embargo on the X100VI will be lifted. Reviews will drop and stores will upload the dedicated X100VI preorder pages.

Of course, as soon as the embargo is lifted, FujiRumors will start the Live Blog, where you’ll find all pre-order links and we will collect all the relevant reviews you should check out.

But Why?

Loved the X100VI rumors (and want to get more)?

Well, then if you decided to go for the Fujifilm X100VI, feel free to use any of our affiliate links to pre-order it.

The links I share are affiliate links. This means that once you click on them, you’ll get to the page of the store. And if you decide to buy anything on the store, a small commission is valued back to FujiRumors at no extra costs for you.

But remember: the last click counts.

So if for example you click on my affiliate link to BHphoto, don’t buy anything, and then go let’s say to SonyAlphaRumors and click on any of their B&H affiliate links, navigate BH and then preorder the X100VI, then SAR will earn the commission.

I mean, SAR is a fantastic website and deserves all the support it can get. And go and support them if you prefer (or anyone else). But just so you know, in case what you planed to do is to support FR, then the last store-link to click should be the one through FujiRumors.

Why do it?

Well, your support will make sure that I’ll be able to keep FujiRumors running and hence keep providing the service you are used to get… as always 100% free and non-stop 365 days a year.

So, to anyone who is considering to support my work, thanks a lot.

If FujiRumors is still running, than it’s only because of those of you, who decided to support FR in the past and will do so in future.

Smart Links

As soon as the X100VI is listed at stores, the links below will re-direct you to the X100VI pages. You can bookmark the links, or just follow FujiRumors at launch day and click any link you’ll find there on that day.

[UPDATE – The Silver Color will be the Same] Fujifilm X100VI coming with Slightly Darker Silver than X100V

[UPDATE: We have been informed that the silver color will be identical. I did share the rumor because it came from several sources, some of them also right in the past. But now we got solid information about it being the same color.

So either something I don’t understand right now is going on (for example, could the limited edition X100VI have a different color? Or anything else I just don’t understand now?), or all the others were simply wrong. But I will correct the rumor now, because the regular silver color is still available.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE

It’s already a tough question in life: silver or black?

And well, the question will get even tougher on February 20. Especially for those, who usually go all-in with the all-black cameras.

Because, as I have been told, the Fujifilm X100VI will come with a new silver color that is “slightly darker” than the one we are used to see on X100 cameras so far. This color will replace the standard silver color we were used to get so far.

Forget About Fujifilm X-Pro4, X-E5, GFX100SII, X-T40, X80 & Co: the Only Camera Coming February 20 is the Fujifilm X100VI

What’s Coming

No, we will not hear anything about the Fujifilm X-Pro4 on February 20. Nothing.

And nothing also about the Fujifilm X-E5, or X-T40 or X-T300, or X80, or GFX100R.

The truth is this: the only camera to be announced on February 20 will be the Fujifilm X100VI.

I guess the Fujifilm X100VI is just too important for Fujifilm and it’s best that it does not get any distraction from other cameras on launch day.

Many of you guys might have seen it coming, due to the lack of rumors about other cameras.

But FujiRumors will make sure that the lack of rumors about other cameras will end soon ;).

Surprises?

But this does not mean we can’t get any surprises on February 20.

I still hope (no rumor) that Fujifilm will give us a new X mount roadmap, or makes major Kaizen firmware announcements, or they could even announce new lenses considering the fact that our sources said the X100VI is the only camera coming on February 20 (and we have leaked images of future XF lenses already months ago). But to be clear: as of now, I have not received information about other gear to come on February 20 (which does not mean it can’t come).

And Fujifilm has also teased a major XApp update, which hopefully might also be announced on February 20 (not a rumor, just a hope).

But they could also show us protoypes of gear to come.

As far as I can remember, at every X Summit something happened that I did not see coming, and I am confident that also this time we will get some surprises.

So definitely stay tuned on FujiRumors on February 20. We will cover it all, and you won’t miss anything.

Fujifilm X100VI – What About Weather Sealing?

The Fujifilm X100V is fully weather sealed only if used with:

And the question I often get these days is: will the Fujifilm X100VI be fully weather sealed also without adapter rings and filters?

Now let’s start by saying that the X100V camera body itself is already weather sealed. And even if there have been minimal changes to the camera body, I think it’s safe to assume that also the X100VI body will be weather sealed.

But a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and the weakest link in the X100V is the lens, which in itself is not fully weather sealed and hence needs the AR-X100 adapter ring and the Protector filter PRF-49 to enjoy full weather sealing.

So has Fujifilm improved on it on the X100VI?

Well, also in this case I have no rumors about it. But I have a rumor that says that the X100VI will use “the same lens” of the X100V.

And if correct, then this means it will be a wonderful sharp lens, but it will also inherit the same “imperfection” of the X100V: it will only be fully weather sealed if used with adapter rings and filters.

That’s why, in my X100VI vs X100V specs comparison, I made my “educated guess” that the X100VI will still need filters to be fully weather sealed.

But again: just an educated guess to try to answer your questions as good as I can with the information I have so far.
