Fujifilm Spain: Classic Negative Film Simulation Coming to Fujifilm X-T3 via Firmware Update on October 28 – UPDATE

UPDATE: Fujifilm Spain has now deleted the comment and told to Spanish news sites that Classic Negative for X-T3 is not confirmed. Read all details here.

Fujifilm has recently officially announced a major firmware update for Fujifilm X-T3 to come on October 28.

To know what it will bring, check out this post.

Missing from the official list of features is the lovely Classic Negative film simulation (which I love to use for my street photos).

But there is hope!

According to a report by the Spanish website Fujistas, they got confirmation from Fujifilm Spain that Classic Negative will be included in the big Fujifilm X-T3 firmware 4.00 update of late October. And indeed, if you look at Fujifilm Spain Instagram, you can see they told to their followers that Classic Negative will be included.

So, let’s cross fingers. I really love Classic Negative on my X-T4, and I strongly hope that also all X-T3 shooters will soon be able to enjoy this beautiful film simulation, too.

Fujifilm to Release Free Firmware Update – Upgrading the AF performance of the FUJIFILM X-T3

To our customers

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) plans to release free firmware update for the “FUJIFILM X-T3” (X-T3) on October 28, 2020.

The update will improve the autofocusing performance of the X-T3 to the same level as the “FUJIFILM X-T4” (X-T4).  This firmware will boost the AF speed, the camera’s AF tracking performance and the Face / Eye AF. In addition, the size of the AF area can now be adjusted during video recording. The update will bring new life to the X-T3, adding greater speed to make a great camera even better.

Firmware Updates for Fujifilm X-T4, X-T3, X-T2, X-T1, X-H1, X-Pro3, X-Pro2, X-Pro1, X-E3, X-T20 and X-T30 Released

Fujifilm has released several firmware updates.

Down below you’ll find all the details officially shared by Fujifilm.

The main course of the meal is improved support for the Fujinon XF50mmF1.0 R WR. for “enhanced AF speed and enabling Color Shading Correction to mitigate subtle color casts when images are made at the lens’ maximum F1.0 aperture“.

I wish Fujifilm would specify, which bugs are fixed. For example, as FujiRumors found out for first, the recent X-T4 “minor bug fix” was actually a major one, as it fixed the exposure stepping issue.

Anyway, down below all the details.

Curiosity: Fujifilm X-T4 has Better Video Dynamic Range than Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6

Gerald Undone has tested the Canon R5 and Canon R6.

His review focuses mostly on video, so check it out if you are interested in the new Canon cameras (which, as we said, are Canon’s declaration of the death of DSLR’s).

Overall the review is not really that positive, as the new Canon R5 and R6 have some serious limitations, and show one more time that putting stuff into cameras just to decorate the specs sheet, but then making them unusable in real life use, is not a smart way to deal with customers, and this might backfire terribly.

But hey, we Fuji shooters have already a lot of stuff to worry and struggle with in our own little photography X/GFX space, that we won’t talk about the issues with the Canon EOS R5 and R6 here.

But one thing I’d like to mention it.

At minute 6:09, Gerald shares the results of his video dynamic range testings, and he says that the APS-C Fujifilm cameras (such as X-T3 and X-T4) beat the full frame Canon EOS R5 and R6 in this area.

Also, as said in another video shared down below, the Fujifilm X-T4 exhibits less flickering at higher shutter speeds compared to the Canon EOS R5. Also in this video, they confirm the Fujifilm X-T4 is winning in terms of video dynamic range. Since the Canon R5 costs 3 times a Fuji body, he would have hoped for better results.

Not bad for the little (and much more affordable) Fuji’s ;).

So, that’s the little good Fuji news. Now back to complaining about the lack of X-T3 firmware and Co. ;)
