Christopher Frost reviews the XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR and he seems to be moderately satisfied with the performance of this lens ;).

In short:

  • gorgeous built quality second to none
  • manual focus turn smoothly but responds jerky
  • fast autofocus and completely silent
  • very small lens for such a well built and fast lens
  • spectacular sharpness all over the frame from center to corner even at f/1.4
  • one of the sharpest APS-C lenses he has ever seen. What an achievement by Fujifilm
  • negligible distortion
  • at f/1.4 strong vignetting
  • close up image quality at f/1.4 is excellent
  • almost no coma smearing
  • bokeh looks lovely and smooth
  • even at f/1.4 no real chromatic aberration, Fuji performed some magic trick
  • he feels this lens fell from a space ship or has been transported back in time from some technological advanced future
  • it is virtually perfect
  • much better IQ than the XF16mmF1.4
  • stellar optic and highly recommended

FUJIFILM Corporation

FUJIFILM Corporation has identified a firmware incompatibility between specific X and GFX series cameras listed below. This incompatibility can result in macOS users being unable to directly access files if they were initially saved to SDXC memory cards in-camera.

To address this anomaly, Fujifilm is creating a firmware patch, which is expected to be available for free download by X Series and GFX System users soon.

In the interim, please review the following information carefully for further information and recommended next steps.

Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R LM WR to be Released February 24

The Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R LM WR was announced back in September 2021 and originally scheduled to ship in November 2021.

However, in October 2021 Fujifilm announced a shipping postponement due to “delay in parts procurement.”

Now Fujifilm has discolsed the final and official release date, which is February 24.

BHphoto & Co already marked the lens as shipping on February 24 back in October here, just a few days after the shipping delay notice of Fujifilm. So the date US stores anticipated is now officially confirmed by Fujifilm.
