CONFIRMED: Fujifilm X100VI Announcement on February 20 (and More?)

So Fujifilm just officially announced the next Fujifilm X Summit for February 20.

And according to our sources, for sure we will get the Fujifilm X100VI on February 20.

Will we get even more?

Well, at the moment I don’t know it. But what I know is that Fujifilm has LOTS of stuff in the pipeline for the first months of 2024.

In fact, we confirm: Fujifilm will announce more cameras in the first months of 2024 than in the entire year 2023. Which means “3 or more” cameras.

We also told you that the successor of this camera here is the next MILC camera to be launched, as we reported here.

And last but not least, we already leaked the images of the next XF lens that Fujifilm will launch, which will be the replacement of this lens here. If you want you can see the images here plus read additional specs here.

Finally, there are lenses on the official Fujifilm roadmap for 2024 and other gear that could come (but we don’t really have solid rumors about them for now). We shared a big Fujifilm 2024 overview here.

I will try to figure out exactly what will come.

But for sure I can tell you now: the Fujifilm X100VI is scheduled for February 20 announcement.

Fujifilm X100V Discontinued at Several Stores: Giving Up on X100V Delivery and Getting Ready for Fujifilm X100VI?

Fujifilm Gives Up on X100V

Japanese stores are usually the first to mark items as discontinued or in general giving us indications on what’s happening with certain gear.

The X-T4, X-E4, GFX100, XF56/F1.2 and much more gear got first marked as discontinued in Japan before anywhere else on the world.

And today we get another significant hint: many stores in Japan have now completely delisted the Fujifilm X100V from their stores, such as Map Camera, Bic Camera, and Yodobashi Camera. Some stores mark it as “we finished sale“.

It looks like Fujifilm has at this point just given up delivering all those Fujifilm X100V people have still on order, at least in Japan.

And it’s not the first time: the same thing happened with the Fujifilm X-E4, where lots of people had one on order, patiently waited to get it shipped, but then out of nowhere Fujifilm canceled all orders and discontinued the X-E4.

The Last Samples

In USA the Fujifilm X100V is still listed at stores.

At Amazon you can find some samples in stock (at the time of this post), but at a higher price.

But I guess it won’t take long at this point that also US stores will mark the Fujifilm X100V as discontinued.

A Bad Move?

The X100V is huge missed opportunity for Fujifilm. They could have made tons of money with it, but just were incapable of manufacturing enough sample to meet even a small fraction of its massive demand.

To me it looks like Fujifilm just gave up on shipping the X100V at this point.

My guess (not rumor) is that they decided to use all the parts they have still available for X100V and re-use whatever they can of those pieces for the manufacturing of the Fujifilm X100VI (for example the lens, which is the same on both cameras).

I am not sure this is a smart move: I mean, give up on lots of money you can make right now in the hope to make money with another model in future. The best solution would have been to just finally solve that chronic parts issue, which other manufacturers seem to have fixed but Fujifilm still struggles a lot with.

Why “Fujifilm X100VI” is Best Name for the New X100 Camera

Fujifilm X100VI – The Best Choice

So we told you that the successor of the Fujifilm X100V will be called Fujifilm X100VI.

Now, according to our survey, 80% of you thought that other names would have been more appropriate.

And you know what?

I agree that Fujifilm could have been more creative with the name. And certainly they had lots of creative options on the table.

My new favourite (as suggest by a FR-reader): X100-00S, where “00S” stands for “out-of-stock” :).

But why did they go with “Fujifilm X100VI” then?

Well, because at the end of the day, from a business (and not creative) point of view, it’s by far the best choice.

Let me tell you why.

RUMOR: The Fujifilm X100V Successor Will be Called…

Fellow FR-readers… welcome to the first rumor of 2024.

And while it might not be the most crucial rumor ever shared, it is one that triggered lots of guesses and speculations on the web: the name of the Fujiiflm X100V successor.

Today we can finally give you the answer to this questions.

I was WRONG about Fujifilm X100V Successor – RUMOR CORRECTION

The X100V Successor – I Was Wrong

Long I have thought how to give you this information.

I thought: maybe I should give you some behind the scenes. Explain. Give you some context. So you would understand why I wrote what I wrote a few months ago.

But at the end of the day it all does not matter.

What matters is that what I told you from a beautiful spot in the Dolomites a few months ago, is now no longer accurate, hence wrong.

All I need to do now is to:

  • offer you my apology (which I hope you’ll be gracious enough to accept)
  • share a rumor correction

My apology is offered to you. Now I owe you the rumor correction:

We confirm that the Fujifilm X100V successor will come in early 2024. That’s rocksolid and I will never correct or change that rumor.

But, unlike we told you here, it will not come with a new lens. And that’s not a bad thing at all, considering that that lens has just been updated with the X100V, so it’s definitely a modern lens.

That’s it. I’ve done it.

Oh…

one more thing.

In the recently “leaked” list of Fujifilm gear (that contains many errors), one of the specs listed was that the X100V successor would also have OIS (optical image stabilization). Since the X100V successor will have the same lens of the X100V, this means that it won’t have OIS.

There are still many more corrections to be done to that list. Here are the ones done so far.

Don’t forget to…

I FEEL LUCKY AND WILL CLICK THE LINKS BELOW TRUSTING I WILL FIND THE X100V IN STOCK
