RUMOR: Fuji’s will drop entry level X line and step into the Action Cameras segment + NEW Patent (actioncamerarumors)

 photo action_zps912b9422.png

According to actioncamerarumors here, Fujifilm decided to get rid of the non-profitable entry-level X MILC segment in order to free up resources to put into the flourishing action camera market (GoPro & Co). Actioncamerarumors says:

β€œThe Swing-cam presented at Photokina could be seen as a first foray into the action camera domain.”

If true, the next Fuji X entry-level camera (rumored to come early 2015) could also be Fuji’s last one!

Actioncamerarumros also spotted an interesting Fujifilm patent about an optical system that can shoot a telephoto and wide-angle image at the same time. It could be used in a surveillance camera as well as in an action camera.

Fujifilm X-PRO2 will feature a dual SD card slot. Release second quarter 2015 (New Source)

 photo p2_zps35b22e00.jpg

According to a new source (so take it with a grain of salt), the Fujifilm X-PRO2 will feature a dual SD card slot. The source also said the the release should be at the 2nd quarter 2015 (so from April to June).

I hear very different release dates (from very early 2015 to late 2015), so one more reason not to take this rumor as a fact. I hope to be able to update you soon via trusted sources… and in case there is somebody out there willing to share some more details, you know how to contact me.

Time to update the rumored specs list again.

SIGMA says (again): “We plan to expand our mirrorless line”. NEW SOURCE says Fuji X mount lenses will come!

 photo sigma_zpsaa7ab9db.jpg

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4: almost the IQ of the Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 for ΒΌ of the price!

In an interview at posted on youtube by fotografia.it, (transcript at Sigma Rumors) a Sigma manager was asked if they plan to release lenses for Fuji X-mount.

In the past, when asked about lenses for Fujifilm, Sigma always said clearly “NO PLANS”. But this time it’s different. Sure, no confirmation, but also no denial of upcoming Sigma lenses for Fuji X-mount… and that’s already a good sign, if you ask me.

Q: The most important part of your production is designed for digital SLR cameras. What is wrong with mirrorless?I see you are supporting and Sony E MFT cameras, but what about Fuji, Nikon 1, Canon M? Do you plan to keep these cameras?

A: First of all, I think, mirrorless cameras are very promising future products. We always plan to expand our product line for mirrorless cameras. If possible, we would like to support as many systems as possible. But our engineering resources are limited. We have many opportunities and new projects to make the products even more high-quality. Support for new systems is given quite a lot of time and spent a lot of technical resources. Based on this, we must carefully choose our clients.

We believe that we define our core customers, as amateurs who want to get serious photography. Most likely we will expand the product line for those people who use the mirrorless camera premium. I think they are our main customers.

Also, a new source contacted me and said that Sigma is indeed looking at the X-system. But they still have to decide which lenses produce and when to launch them.

Sure, also this time, take it with a grain of salt. I don’t know anything about it from trusted sources. But, if the new source is right, maybe Sigma finally understood the importance of the X-mount market, and we will get more autofocus lenses at affordable prices.

The Fujifilm X-PRO2 delay? Fujifilm is waiting for brand new sensor!

 photo p2_zps35b22e00.jpg

The Fujifilm X-PRO2 rumor drives me nuts!

X-PRO1S, X-PRO2 with 24MP, X-PRO2 FF, release mid 2014, late 2014, early 2015, fall 2015… all plausible options, and most of them probably correct at the time when those rumors were shared… but everything can change quickly with Fujifilm.

The latest information we have from a trusted source is this one: Fujifilm is waiting for a brand new sensor. This is, according to the source, the main reason of the long waiting time.

And now the big questions are: which sensor is it worth to make X-shooters wait so long for the X-PRO2? One of new rumored Sony sensors? The organic sensor? The one with the enlarged green pixels? And when will this new sensor be available and the Fujifilm X-PRO2 released? If you can help, feel free to contact me via email at fujirumor [at] gmail [dot] com or 100% anonymously via rumor box (possibly using a nick-name so that I can recognize you in future).

The next Fuji camera? Another entry level X in early 2015! (trusted source)

 photo asdasd_zps972b7057.jpg

A trusted source just told me that in early 2015 we will see a new Fujifilm X-series entry level camera.

My very personal guess is that it will be either the successor of the Fujifilm X-A1 or the replacement of the Fujifilm X-M1… but as said, it’s just my guess. It could be something different.

I’m not sure it makes much sense to put R&D into the entry-level market, so for now I’m not really excited about this camera. But nevertheless, also this time, I’ll spend all the time & energy I can invest to find out more about it… and I hope to be pleasantly surprised soon.

It’s known that the X-M1 and X-A1 were not the big hit for Fujifilm… but what’s bad for Fujifilm, is very good for those looking for a cheap entry level X. Just look for Fujifilm X-A1 offers here and Fujifilm X-M1 deals here. Or get the X-M1 + 18mm $300 off at Adorama.

Stay tuned and feel free to share rumors by contacting me via email at fujirumor [at] gmail [dot] com or 100% anonymously via rumor box (possibly using a nick-name so that I can recognize you in future).
