Nissin i40 release pushed back to the end of December (source BHphoto)

 photo jpg_zpsbb5d8656.jpg

It was expected for September, its release had been pushed back to mid November, and the latest info we have vom BHphoto, is that the Nissin i40 flash is expected to be available on December 29. The same flash is ready and available on the market for other brands, but not for Fujifilm. I’ve shared rumors in the past, that Nissin is waiting for the proper Fujifilm firmware update to release the flash.

At the German store WexDE the Nissin i40 is said to be ready for shipping “in 1 to 10 weeks“, which basically means “we have no idea when it will be available“.

Fujifilm X-PRO2 to be announced first half/early 2015? HSS flash coming too (new source)

 photo p2_zps35b22e00.jpg

The Fujifilm X-PRO2 rumor is by far the trickiest rumor I’ve ever worked on (mainly because Fuji often changes plans about it. Release & Specs may have changed 3 or more times until now). Hence, did you take the holy grain of salt? Ok, then let’s sit down talk about the Fujifilm X-PRO2 now.

First off, the rumor comes from a new source. It’s the same source, who shared the Full Size JPEG’s taken with the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR (and I posted yesterday here). I have the expressed permission of the source to share this detail with all of you.

So, as proven by the pics, the source attended a Fuji event, where it had the opportunity to take some shots with the upcoming XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR and XF 56mm f/1.2 APD… and also to talk to a Fuji Rep. At the event, the Rep told to the source, that the Fujifilm X-PRO2 will be announced “in early or first half next year.” The rep also said that Fuji is working on a HSS flash (which confirms rumors shared previously here).

Sure, with all respect to the Fuji Reps, we still have to be careful with this information. Also, consider that this is a new source. So, again, take it cum grano salis. What we know for sure is that at photokina, Fuji Guy Greg said that the Fujifilm X-PRO2 won’t be Full Frame, but “worth the wait”.

Message to sources: you can contact Fujirumors 100% anonymously via rumor box (maybe using a nick name so that I can eventually recognize you in future) or via email at fujirumor [at] gmail.com. Feel free to make my X-PRO2 rumor sleuthing a bit easier ;)

[UPDATE] Fujifilm patents new 35mm f/1.4 :: Is this the rumored 35mm f/1.4 MKII (coming early 2015 – Anonymous Source)

THE RUMOR

As you know, in early June I told you about an updated 35mm f/1.4. It has become quiet around this rumor, so that I thought that Fuji has dropped original plans. But now an anonymous source told me that the 35mmMKII could be announced early 2015.

THE PATENT
[UDPATE: As JoHo said in the comments: The US patent is a (presumably just translated) version of a patent that has been filed in December 2011 in Japan (see priority date). So it is unlikely that it refers to a new design.]

ORIGINAL POST: And this could be another hint: here is a patent (click here) showing a new 35mm f/1.4 lens. So there were/are definitely plans to upgrade it. Early rumors said that the upgrade would basically be just about a faster AF speed (and not weather sealing).

But be careful: a rumor + a patent are still not a fact! So take it with the usual grain of salt for now. Especially since at photokina a manager said that the 35 ver.2 could eventually come after they have released all the other lenses…. but I remember managers denying an update to the X100 just a few months before the X100S was announced, so who knows…

Don’t worry, I’ll do my homeworks and hopefully be able to update you soon with something more reliable.

Kaizen costs growing: FW-updates (bringing new functions) will focus on newer cameras. No electronic shutter for X-E2?

 photo KAIZEN_zps1fdb780f.png

THE RUMOR (new source)

The Kaizen philosophy is something that distinguishes Fujifilm from other companies. And I feel pretty save to say, that it will remain so in future. In fact, the next big FW-updates for the X-E2 and especially the X-T1 are just around the corner.

However, a new source just told me that, since there are now many more X-series cameras on the market than in the past, Fuji can’t afford the growing costs of firmware updates (that will bring new functions) for all these X-cameras anymore.

The costs to continuously implement new features to all X-series cameras would be simply exorbitant.

The source also told us that, according to the latest plans, the Fujifilm X-E2 won’t get the electronic shutter. But it confirms that it will get the remote control & a few minor things. Fuji is also aware of the complaints about too aggressive NR at high ISO in JPEG’s for the X-T1 and X-E2 (NOTE: the fact that they are aware of it, doesn’t necessarily mean that they will improve that via firmware).

THE POLL

With the X100T/X30, Fuji introduced so many firmware based improvements, that I’d really like to have them also on my X-E2. I’m sure many of you would like some of those features too: Electronic Shutter, Full Manual Video Control, spot metering frame coupling, Classic Chrome film simulation, fully configurable Quick menu, improved JPEG engine, wireless remote control (that should come for the X-E2) and Instax printing, interval shooting for time-lapse photography and more…

Sure, we can’t pretend Fujifilm to update all their X-cameras with these (and more) features. But what if we’d pay for them? So here is today’s poll: would you pay for a firmware update that gives you new, long-awaited features on your “older” X-series camera?

Feel free to tell us your most desired firmware features for you X-series camera in the comments and vote if/how much you’d be ready to pay for it.

A new source confirms: New Fuji-Flash is coming “within the next few months”!

 photo asd_zps6f84ebaf.jpg

the Fujifilm EF-42 is one of the Fuji flashes available at the market. More flash units are needed… and maybe coming within the next few months.

_ _ _

A couple of weeks ago, an anonymous source told us that Fuji plans to launch new flashes “later this year” (see this rumor). Well, today a new source confirmed the rumor, and said that a powerful flash with remote communication and HSS will be launched within the next few months.

Sure, it’s still all unconfirmed (ergo: grain of salt is needed), but the number of hints is growing. For now, the question is if the flash will be available by the end of this year or we have to wait until early 2015.

If there is anyone out there, who can confirm the flash rumor (and maybe also share some more specs), then feel free to contact me at fujirumor [at] gmail.com or completely anonymously via rumor box.

I remind you the Nissin i40 flash should be available late fall (mid-November, according to BHphoto).
