See Fuji’s Future through the FujiRumors Crystal Ball: Huge 2015 Rumor Overview, Facts Check and Reliability Rating!

 photo Cyristal Ball Empty 2_zpskpkj7tm8.jpg

Many of you asked me to introduce a FR1 to FR5 rating system like on all the other rumor sites, but I honestly don’t like rumor ratings. Here is why:

As you might know, in 2014 I’ve shared 74 correct rumors (82% hit rate). Many of them came from new or anonymous sources. So, just because a rumor comes from a new/anonymous source, it doesn’t mean it is wrong or has a low credibility.

Sure, I receive also plenty of fake rumors shared by people, who apparently do not like FujiRumors for some reason, but I was able to debunk almost all of them… so all those fake rumors luckily never went online (it would be a long, fun list to publish one day)!

Also, consider that many rumors have been shared several months (and even over a year) before the real product hit the market. For example, FR-sources shared already in July 2014, that the X-PRO2 will feature a 24MP sensor (and I’m confident that this rumor is correct).

Such Super Early Leaks can often be a problem for FR, because products that were really in Fuji’s plans at the moment when the rumor was shared, were dropped by Fuji later on (see X70, dual card slot for X-T1 and more). So it happens that correct rumors turn out to be wrong at the end… sh*t happens ;) .

That being said, I understand your need of a rating within this rumor jungle. Therefore, once or twice a year, I sum up all the rumors and try to order them according to their reliability. The list includes also rumors shared in 2014 which are still not verified.

This is also the occasion for me to say a BIG THANK YOU to all sources, who shared right rumors in the past years. I think 82% is an good hit rate for a rumor site, and it would not be possible without your amazing help…. we are all looking forward to hear more from you :) .

THE FACT CHECK 2015

NOTE about the 2015 rumor Fact Check. I have made 2 lists. A “fair list” and an “unfair list“. The fair lists consist in all the rumors shared by different sources at different times, each of them could have been right or wrong. On the other hand, in the unfair list I put everything into the same pot. It’s not fair towards the work of my sources, but I share it out of a pre-emptive self-defense from those who want to put every into the same pot.

Sigma shows Art Lenses with Fuji Mount on their Website… but for FinePix S series!

 photo niFu_zpsbd01a6tt.jpg

If you check out Sigma’s Art lenses series, you can get a little confused, because, if you click on the drop down menu where it says “Camera Mount“, there is an option saying “Nikon/Fuji“.

An error? A Freudian Slip? No, as Victor said in the comments, it’s about the older Fujifilm FinePix S-series, which is fully compatible with Nikon’s Nikkor F-series lenses.

But will Sigma ever make Fuji X-mount lenses?

Back in December 2014, Sigma said that they plan to expand their mirrorless lens line-up. But they never said they will produce lenses for the Fuji X-system. And, a part from a new source, I haven’t heard anything reliable about Sigma launching an X-mount line of their lenses.

The problem? For a long time, the very limited market share of the X-series cameras made the Fuji World unattractive for third-party lens manufacturers.

Now the Fuji X-cameras fell into the hands of more photographers, but at the same time the high quality Fujinon lens line-up expanded quickly and will be almost complete in near future… and it’s not easy for Sigma&Co to compete with the Fujinon’s (remember the X-mount Zeiss Touit 32mm and 12mm Flop)

Third party lenses that might have a better chance to sell, are more specialized lenses (like tilt-shift lenses, still missing in the Fuji lens line-up) or those covering focal lenghts not yet offered by Fujifilm, like the Samyang 8mm fisheye lens. On the other hand, the market for those kind of lenses is fairly contained.

The more lens option we X-shooter have, the better. So I hope Sigma will offer an X-mount version of their lenses, like the amazing Sigma 50mm f/1.4, which has almost the IQ of the Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 for ¼ of the price!

Between an X-T2 and X-E3 I'd buy...

We have more confirmation about the Fujfilm X-T10 and additional specs, leaked by digicame-info. Rumors shared previously here on FR are confirmed: the pop-up flash, the smaller EVF compared to X-T1, the name (X-T10), the kit lens will be an XC lens.

The body will be made out of metal and will have Five dials. I have no information about a PASM dial… so I think it won’t feature a PASM dial.

And stay tuned on FujiRrumos on May 18 via facebook, google+, RSS-feed and twitter.

*** RUMOR *** Fujifilm X-T10 will feature a Function Dial (CH, CL, BKT…) instead of ISO-Dial! (New Source)

 photo X-T1 body_zps5zxnz6dx.jpg
X-T10 rumor update: Thanks to a new source, we now know that, instead of an ISO dial, the Fujifilm X-T10 will feature a function dial! They have basically made a big dial out of the little one under the ISO dial. So you’ll still have a dial to set BKT, CH, CL, Double Exposure, Panorama…

HOT MAY: The X-T10 will be announced on May 18. But we should see also a new Kaizen Firmware Update for the X-T1, which is rumored to come in May (maybe 11th of May). So make sure to follow FujiRumors.
