Fujifilm X-H2 may NOT Even Come in 2020

Fujifilm X-H2

Here on FujiRumors we already told you in November 2018 here, that the Fujifilm X-H2 will not come in 2019.

Now a new source told me that the Fujifilm X-H2 may not even come out in 2020.

The Fujifilm X-H1 is in my opinion a great camera, and with the new price tag, it is absolutely fantastic value for money. But sadly the Fuji X-H1 was not a financial success and let’s see what the future of this line will be.

TO ANONYMOUS / NEW SOURCES: Thanks for what you told me about the Fujifilm X-H2. It is not yet included in this rumor, since it’s fresh and I need to make my mandatory checks. But even if I won’t be able to confirm, I will share at some point. Thanks a lot.

Should Fujifilm Launch a Monochrome Camera? POLL

Fujifilm Monochrome

In the early days of FujiRumors, I asked you guys if you think Fujifilm should make a monochrome Fujifilm X series camera.

And in fact, there was a point in time, when a monochrome camera was an option on Fuji’s table.

So I launched a poll back in 2015, but the results where not in favor of a monochrome option, and I have been told by sources, that Fujifilm dropped monochrome plans after having seen our negative poll results.

But now, 5 years after the original monochrome survey and looking at the market situation now, do you still think that Fujifilm should not make a monochrome camera?

I know, developing a monochrome camera takes away R&D from other projects, because it is not as easy as just removing the color filter array on the sensor, at least not if you want to make thinks properly and good.

There is a lot more development that goes into it!

On the other hand, personally I think Fujifilm should offer something different at some point. A camera that is surely a niche project, but that would undermine one more time, that Fujifilm listens to customer needs, even if those needs are very specific.

Because as Fujifilm super-boss Toshi Ilda said in this interview,

the more we think about photographers, the more different styles of cameras we have to create. Fujifilm always thinks: what can this camera do for this kind of photographer

the center of photography is not the camera or equipment, but the photographer

And I believe, a monochrome camera would fit perfectly into Fuji’s philosophy! And for my taste, it should be an X100 style camera.

But I’d love to hear what you guys think about it.

And especially Fujifilm would like to get feedback, since it’s a known fact, that Fujifilm does watch the FujiRumors community closely, and with a bit of luck, they even take 1:1 our poll results and make them become reality :).

New Fujifilm G Mount Roadmap Coming May 23

Fujifilm G Mount Roadmap

According a new source, along with the Fujifilm GFX100 announcement on May 23, Fujifilm will also unveil a new Fujinon G mount lens roadmap.

No reliable indication so far that also the Fujiflm X mount roadmap will be updated.

I remind you that back in February, at the wonderful Fujifilm X Summit in Dubai, Fujifilm asked users which Fujinon X and G lenses they should make next, giving us several options to vote for.

So here on FujiRumors we launched a lens poll, based on Fuji’s options, and 15,000+ of you voted. Check out the future lens wishlist result here.

Fujifilm also offered us a firmware wishlist, and 10,000 of you also voted on it. Check it out.

Did the Panasonic S1/R Fiasco Prove FUJIFILM Did Well to Skip Full Frame?

The Mirrorless Endgame

Some of you think that talking about “mirrorless endgame” or “mirrorless war” is a bit too dramatic. And yes, I actually agree with that, but also not!

I explain:

War” or “Endgame” suggest an epic fight with violent ending. That will definitely not happen. At least not with all camera brands.

While Samsung joined the mirrorless market spectacularly with the Samsung NX1 and left just as spectacularly, by capitulating overnight, other brands will quietly disappear, reducing their products cycles, their innovations, and one day, silently, just stop it all.

The harsh truth is: in a camera market shrinking that fast, it is not plausible to think that everybody will continue grow and prosper.

So we are in the endgame now.

The good news for us customers is: companies lower their prices, beef up their cameras, race for innovation, cover us with firmware love, and fight for every single one of us.

We, the customers, win in any case ;).
