Our reader John Smith (Click here) posted a set of X PRO 1 pictures taken with the “old” Leica Tele Elmarit lens. I hope to see more tests with third party lenses. I think they will work better than on other mirrorless cameras. The NEX-7 for example has terrible corner issues on many lenses. But I hope Fuji will “steal” the peaking mode idea from Sony. That would help us a lot to focus with manual lenses!

The video on top has been made by Kai form Digitalrev and compares the three hottest cameras of the moment, the Fuji (of course), the Olympus E-M5 and Sony NEX-7. All three are on top of the Amazon sales rankings (here it is).

Of course this is a very personal statement made by Ken Rockwell (Click here) made it’s nice to read it anyway: “World’s Best Digital Camera? It’s been the LEICA M9 since 2009, and the X-Pro1 just might take that crown away from the M9. We’ll see. The M9 wins because it makes great images and handles well, even if the M9 is noisy and klunky compared to a real LEICA, but the X-Pro1 seems to offer the same or better image quality, with the same brilliant simplicity, with a body design that’s 60 years ahead of the primitive LEICA M9.”

Imaging Resource (Click here) pubslished a full X PRO 1 review: “It’s not just a retro look that distinguishes the Fujifilm X-Pro1, but its cutting-edge hybrid optical viewfinder and emphasis on quality prime lenses. Excellent image quality with very clean detail is the extra surprise inside.”

First Impressions: Sony NEX 7 vs Fujifilm X Pro 1 vs Olympus EM5 OMD at ThePhoBlographer (Click here): “This is a three way tie. OMD wins for autofocusing, NEX 7 wins for manually focusing in real life, and the X Pro 1 wins for the easiest ergonomics and getting your settings right if you’re a manual shooter.“

Cnet (Click here) published the full X PRO 1 review: “The Fujifilm X-Pro1 is a nice compromise if you can’t afford a Leica but want to approximate the experience and get some stunning photo quality to boot.”

First X PRO 1 impressions at Pfflynn (Click here): “Overall, I commend the Fuji people on sorting out a concise but natural and comprehensive camera control system.  Nikon shooters should adapt to the Fuji system quite easily.”

Ken Rockwell (Click here) keeps sharing positive thoughts about the X PRO 1 system: “This Fuji normal lens is as good or better than LEICA’s best: ultrasharp even at f/1.4 right out to the edges, and devoid of distortion. Ha!”

Digitalkamera.de got their hands on the Fuji X PRO 1 and X lenses. That’s a “Labortest” made with DxO Analyzer. Fuji X PRO 1 Bericht (Click here to read the google translation).
You have to pay to read the full Labortest but I give you a short summary: The Dynamic range is good up to 6.400 ISO and decreases gradually. Particularly the resolution results are impressive (so they say). Up to 1.600 ISO there is no loss at all!
They also tested the lenses. The 35mm X lens is very good but has one big disappointment. At wide aperture the edges are not really sharp :(
The 12mm lens is not as sharp as the 35mm lens (but still very good!)
The best lens is the 60mm macro!

In short, as stated by other reviewers before the X PRO 1 resolution and dynamic range doesn’t increse at all up to 1.600 ISO (and that’s amazing result for an APS-C sensor!). The 60mm macro is very likely the best of all three X lenses. The only not so perfect lens is the 18mm f/2.0. Surprised?
