New APPLE Campaign shows Legally Blind Photographer Bruce Hall with his FUJIFILM X100S

Fujifilm X Shooter Bruce Hall

Bruce Hall (brucehallphoto) is a legally blind photographer with about 5% normal eyesight. Bruce says:

“I take photographs, because I use cameras and optical devices to see. I’m legally blind and the world appears pretty much like an impressionist painting [admin note: he can distinguish colors and contrast]. But I am fortunate that up close I can see detail. I want to see the things that have always felt out of reach.“

Well, in Apple’s new campaign “Behind the Mac“, the company from Cupertino decided to features Bruce Hall’s story. And on his desk, next to his Mac, we can see what I think is the Fujifilm X100S (I can’t see a front dial and the hybrid viewfinder seems to have a little “frame” which we find in X100 and X100S).

But this little gear curiosity is just an excuse to share here on FujiRumors Bruce Hall’s much more inspirational story.

It reminded me of what Viktor Frankl said in his book Man’s Search for Meaning, which I just finished to read: if life has a meaning at all, then it must have a meaning also when things don’t go well. We should not give up and say “there is nothing I can expect from life” but change the perspective and ask “what is life expecting from me?“.

Bruce reacted, searched, climbed the obstacles and found his way in life, his freedom, also thanks to the art of photography.

Today, amongst the others, Bruce Hall’s photos are part of the permanent collection in the Library of Congress, his work has been published at several magazines including the National Geographic, and he won the American Advertising Bronze Award for his images in the book Immersed: Our Experience With Autism.

So this was our little weekend story. Something a bit different. But I hope something that might inspire you to take your camera, go out, and experience the freedom of being immersed into the art of photography.

Maybe we won’t take the best picture of our life today, but it doesn’t matter. Let’s just shoot more, and worry less :)
