September 28, 2018

To our valued customers

Thank you very much for purchasing and using our products.

We have checked the performance of our application software used with “macOS Mojave” which was newly released from Apple on Sep 25 2018. As a result, we have confirmed defect symptoms below.

  • Application software doesn’t start.
  • A camera is not recognized when the camera is connected to a PC via a USB cable.

We will fix the defects by upgrading the application software. And we plan to post the upgraded ones sequentially on our global website from the end of October 2018.

Therefore, we would appreciate it if you could understand that the application software below cannot be used until the upgrade ones are released in case you plan to upgrade to “macOS Mojave”.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Viltrox 85mm F1.8 for Fujifilm X Mount Autofocus Test Video with Sample Images JPEG and RAW to Download

Viltrox 85mm F1.8

Yesterday we reported about the Viltrox 85mm F1.8 autofocus lens for Fujifilm X mount.

I was intrigued by this lens, and so I went to visit Viltrox booth today at Photokina.

They told me:

  • available in October
  • cost $379 (and not $240 as reported yesterday)
  • no concrete plans for other Fujifilm X mount AF lenses at this stage

More info has been sent to me by a FR-reader

  • Internal focus
  • Focus ring can rotate 360 degrees
  • Silent stm motor
  • Close distance cover range (?) is 136 x 182mm
  • Maximum diameter (?) 80mm
  • Lens. construction, MFT and specs screenshot below after the images

They had a Fujifilm X-H1 with the Viltrox 85mm F1.8 attached to it, so I quickly played around with it.

Keep in mind that this is pre-production, and there will be autofocus improvements and bug fixes before the release. For example, I noticed that when shooting at F1.8, sometimes in playback when checking the image, the aperture showed a wrong value. Viltrox told me they are fine tuning the firmware to sort it out.

With that said, I made a quick auotofocus video test, using the Fujifilm X-H1 with Viltrox 85mm F1.8. You can see it here on my youtube channel.

Down below you can see also some image samples, mostly JEPGs and some RAWs to download.

Fujifilm X-Trans Roundup

I am currently owner of Lightroom (standalone), Picktorial, Iridient and Luminar.

I think I will try Capture One next, since it made huge improvements in 2017 and in many ways is superior to Lightroom.

One day I will leave Lightroom completely, and luckily I have plenty of options to choose from.

So just like you, I try different software, watch tutorials, and try to make up my mind on which one will be the best for my life after Lightroom.

And in my search for the perfect software, I like to share the stuff I watch and study with you in dedicated Fujifilm X-Trans roundups.

Let’s start with the roundup.
