Nope, there is No Fujinon XF300mmF4 and XF500mmF5.6 Coming in 2021

Do you know those automatic tennis ball machine launchers that constantly fire off balls at you, so fast that at some point you just can’t catch them all anymore?

Well, it’s not much different with fake rumors ;).

Sometimes the fake rumors are thrown out in the world with a pace, that here on FujiRumors we just can’t debunk them all fast enough.

But I try to catch up, and here is one that passed the FujiRumors firewall so far but will now be set right.

Back in March 2020 we reported about two Fujifilm patents showing a Fujinon XF300mmF4 and Fujinon XF500mmF5.6.

Now, I keep getting emails of people firmly believing that the Fujinon XF300mmF4 and Fujinon XF500mmF5.6 will come out for the summer Olympics 2021 in Tokyo.

And guys, I hate to be the one that brings the bad news, but whoever told you that, it is not going to happen.

As a matter of fact, those lenses won’t even come in 2021.

Will they come in 2022? Or in 2023? Or maybe never? I have no idea at this point.

But I tell you this: I blog on FR since 9 years now, and I have reported about countless of patents. And if I have understood something about patents in all these years, then it’s that there is a long way between a patent and a final product. And often patents never even materialize into a final product.

So, take patents with a grain of salt, always.

With that said, I do hope those lenses will come. Maybe Sigma will do them?

Stay tuned on FujiRumors, and I will give you updates as soon as I have them.

Super Fast Irix f/1.4 Lens for Fujifilm GFX Coming This January

Irix is teasing a new lens coming for the Fujifilm GFX system in January (as if January wasn’t already hot enough ;) ).

Now, you might remember how back in July 2020 I told you about a very fast lens coming for the Fujifilm GFX system. At that time I was able to give you the following details.

  • 1.4 lens for GFX system
  • likely manual focus
  • it will be a wide-standard lens (wider than the Mitakon)

It looks like this could be the IRIX lens coming soon :). We have two images of the lens shared here. Feel free to check them out.

Fujifilm GFX – A Success Story

Soon the world will meet the Fujifilm GFX100S. And from all the specs leaked so far, we can easily say it will be a huge shock for the market (especially considering its price).

It will be Fuji’s 4th medium format camera after the Fujifilm GFX50S, the Fujifilm GFX50R and the Fujifilm GFX100.

Overall, Fujifilm’s medium format journey has been a huge success. The Fujifilm GFX100 sold much better then what Fujifilm predicted in its own (already optimistic) forecast, as FujiRumors told you here and Fujifilm managers confirmed later on here. The Fujifilm GFX50R grew up to be a winner thanks to a very aggressive price. But nothing would have been possible, if the first camera, the Fujifilm GFX50S, would not have been as successful as it was.

The strategy is clear, as top Fujifilm manager Toshihisa IIlda explained here: “Top full frame cameras are priced around $3,000-5,000. Fujifilm targets those customers to expand customer base“.

And with a price tag of $5,999 for a 102 megapixel GFX100S with IBIS, Fujifilm is pursuing this strategy very agressively.

So far it seems to work out well. As the manager told us here, “70-80% of GFX customers are coming from non-Fuji cameras. Most probably from full frame DSLR cameras.”

Toshihisa IIda ends up his very interesting talk about the GFX system by saying “The GFX system is really good business for Fujifilm“.

If you want to read more, including what the manager says about the Fujifilm X-H2 and the full frame attack strategy, feel free to check out this post.

Now back to us :).

Today I’d like to share a Fujifilm GFX roundup. It will probably be the last one with the GFX100, GFX50S and GFX50R at the core of it, as I am pretty sure that starting from January 27 the Fujifilm GFX100S will claim the throne and monopolize the attention.

So, there will be comparisons, bug reports, reviews, technical tests, photo reportage and a lot more.

Feel free to check it out down below.

Which Fujifilm Camera do you Hope to Get in 2021?

Recently we checked out how many cameras Fujifilm usually released in the last few years, and we saw that in the last 3 years Fujifilm released 3 cameras. So, assuming that Fujifilm keeps the same pace, we can hope to get 3 cameras also in 2021. But obviously this is just a reference: there could be more or even less than that.

So let’s go crazy with our wishes and make a list of our top dream cameras in the comments.

Everything goes, everything is allowed, all your secret wishes, your forbidden dreams, you biggest desires… as long as you are also willing to pay for them :).

P.S.: yes, we rumored the Fujiflm GFX100S and the X-E4 already. Both will be announced on January 27…. along with so much other stuff! But until now they are “just” rumors that have exclusively shared on FujiRumors.

BREAKING: Fujinon XF27mm f/2.8 MKII will be Weather Sealed and Have Aperture Ring

We already told you back in July 2020, that Fujifilm would launch the Fujinon XF27mm f/2.8 MKII.

Recently we also told you that this lens (among lots of other stuff) will be announced on January 27.

And today we have more :).

The Fujinon XF27mm f/2.8 MK II will have:

  • weather sealing
  • aperture ring

I’ll buy it… and I won’t tell my wife about it ;).

I’ll just sell my old 27mm first and she hopefully won’t notice that the new one has an aperture ring. Smart, huh? And if she ever asks, you guys nicely back me up and say in the comments the XF27mm always had an aperture ring ;).

BREAKING: Fujifilm GFX100S with 3-Way Tilt Screen (and NOT a Fully Articulating Screen)

I don’t why, but this morning my inbox was bombarded by people asking me the same question: will the Fujifilm GFX100S really have a fully articulating screen?

So let me adress this now: No, it won’t!

The Fujifilm GFX100S will have a 3-way tilt screen like the one on the Fujifilm X-T3.

Some Vloggers will still complaint in their first looks on January 27 that they can’t shoot medium format handheld selfie videos, but I guess most of the other medium format shooters will be just fine with this solution ;).

Fujifilm 2021: Is This Really All? Or How Much New Gear We Could Get in 2021 Looking at Fujifilm’s Past Camera & Lens Releases

Fujifilm 2021 – Is This Really All?

Every week I get many emails from fellow FR-readers, asking me if this is really all.

They look at the current X mount roadmap and the latest G mount roadmap, and they see only 3 lenses in total. That’s meager.

Then they look at our rumors, see that we rumored only two cameras, the Fujifilm GFX100S and the Fujifilm X-E4 and wonder if that’s all for 2021.

I diligently reply to all of them, but it has become quite time consuming. So let me address this question one final time here on FujiRumors, so that in future I can just copy and paste the link to this article and send it to those, who inevitably will make me the same question again.

DPRTV Predictions for 2021: Fujifilm X-H2 with Great Video Features plus Smaller and Cheaper Fujifilm GFX100

DPReview published their camera prediction video for 2021.

What will happen with Fujfiilm in 2021? Here is their guess.

  • big video year for Fujifilm
  • what was missing on X-T4 we will see in on the Fujifilm X-H2
  • X-H2 with headphone jack and less overheating concerns. Also high resolution viewfinder
  • A smaller Fujifilm GFX100 with lower resolution display, a bit worst battery life. Room for that sensor to get in a smaller and less expensive body

Chris and Jordan don’t say it will be called “GFX100S”. They just say it could be smaller GFX100 camera with 100 megapixel. But to be clear: it’s their guess, not a rumor or any insider information they share.

But if you follow FujiRumors, you’ll know it will be called Fujifilm GFX100S, you know it will come in early 2021, you know it will be smaller, and yet still have IBIS. For the most recent specs update on the Fujifilm GFX100S check out this article.

And if you read FujiRumors, then you’ll also know they missed out on another camera coming very soon ;).

If you want substantial and solid rumors, then something tells me you should not miss FujiRumors in the days, weeks and months to come ;).
