Weather Sealing:

“it has total of 68 sealing points on the body alone, and additional 26 sealing points for the battery grip. For your reference, the number of sealing points is 61 for X-Pro2 and 63 for X-T2 […] There are more buttons on the X-H1. There are also physical changes in the shape with the new devices. These factors contributed to more complicated weather sealing design for the X-H1. […] we test to see whether it could actually withstand -10℃ temperature. The temperature is actually set at lower than -10℃ for the test.

Coating:

“The X-H1 is also treated with a new coating on the exterior. If you compare the X-H1 with the X-T2, they may look very similar at first glance. Both have the same black hammer tone finish. But if you take a closer look, you will see that the grain size of the exterior coating is a bit different. […] The scratch resistance of the coating is measured in H. Previous X Series models are 4H, which is very durable already. The value is same as that of automobile body coating. The X-H1 achieves 8H scratch resistance.

Comparing ETERNA to Other Fujifilm Film Simulations + ETERNA Profile for CaptureOne + What the F-Log Is ETERNA?

ETERNA Vs. Other Film Simulation

One of the questions X shooters have at the moment, is how the ETERNA compares to other film simulations.

Keith did a quick comparison on his blog here. He says:

what I see doesn’t surprise me coming to Eterna as it is a film simulation designed for videographers, aka – designed for further color grading and as such is characterized by subdued color presentations and rich shadow tones.

Also, as Dan said at our Fujifilm X-H1 group here, “Eterna is muted for a reason. In video, you want the eye’s attention focused on the action/actors not drawn to the entire frame’s vista.”

And in today’s Cinema5D interview, Fujifilm Manager Jun Watanabe-san said: “Current film simulations, even Pro Neg, are too brilliant and not suitable for long time viewing. Hence we developed ETERNA.”

Really Right Stuff Improves L-Plate for Fujifilm GFX 50S

Share

Back on January 30, Fujifilm GFX member Clive told us here, that Really Right Stuff has redesigned its L-Plate for Fujifilm GFX 50S. The new design allows to access the batter without having to remove the L-plate from the camera.

So far the good the news. The bad news however, is that if you purchased the previous L-plate and want to get the new version, you will not get any discount on the new one.

“Really Right Stuff has confirmed that its new L-plate for the GFX 50s no longer requires the locking screw to be unscrewed and the bottom plate to be completely removed in order to fully open the battery door. Unfortunately, no discount is being offered by RRS to those customers who bought the previous version of the L-plate, which wasn’t really fit for purpose, and now wish to switch to the workable version.”

You can get the RSS L-Plate for Fujifilm GFX at BHphoto and RRS.

Profoto Air Remote TTL-F Compatible with Fujifilm X-H1 and X-T20 Support Coming in April

Share

Currently, the Profoto Air Remote TTL-F supports Fujifilm GFX 50S, X-T2, X-Pro2 and X100F, but as we told you back in December, they announced support for further Fujifilm cameras.

Well, besides the Fujifilm X-H1, which is compatible out of the box with the Air Remote TTL-F, Profoto announced that Fujifilm will release a firmware upgrade in April to make it compatible also with the Fujifilm X-T20.

Would be great if they could add also support for X-T1, but at this point we can be fairly pessimistic that this won’t happen.

REMINDER: The Fujifilm X-T20 will get a massive firmware update in April, that is definitely worth to be called a “Kaizen update”. We have shared the full details of the X-T20 update here.
