Expected Price and Specs of Upcoming Fujifilm X Mount Sigma 16mmF1.4, 30mmF1.4 and 56mmF1.4 DC DN Contemporary

Share

FujiRumors already informed you that the upcoming Sigma X mount autofocus lenses will be:

  1. Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary
  2. Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary
  3. Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary

Since not everybody is familiar with the Sigma system, and I already started to receive emails asking me if these were new lenses (pretty much as the Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 was when it was launched for X mount), I feel I need to clarify that these Sigma DC DN lenses already exist for other mirrorless mounts.

So first here is a mini Sigma abbreviation guide:

  • DC: lenses designed for APS-C
  • DN: lenses designed for mirrorless
  • Contemporary: Featuring the very latest technology, and combining optical performance with compactness

The price range for the above mentioned lenses (for other mounts) goes from $339 to $479 depending on the lens and it remains consistent across the various mount options.

Hence, it is safe to assume that also the Fujifilm X mount version will cost about the same and also have basically the same specs.

So let’s take a closer look at them:

Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary: BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama

  • Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16

  • Stepping Motor AF System
  • Weather-Sealed Construction
  • Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm
  • full product details and images
  • price $449

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary: BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama

  • APS-C Format
  • 45mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16
  • Two Aspherical Elements
  • One High-Refractive Index Element
  • Super Multi-Layer Coating
  • Stepping Motor AF System
  • Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm
  • full product details and images
  • price $339

Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary: BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama

  • APS-C Format
  • 84mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16
  • One SLD Element, Two Aspherical Elements
  • Super Multi-Layer Coating
  • Stepping Motor AF System
  • Weather-Sealed Construction
  • Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm
  • full product details and images
  • price $479

There is one more DC DN lens in the Sigma range, the new and lovely Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN, but if my sources are accurate, this lens will not be part of the Sigma X mount launch party. However, it should not break Sigma’s bank to offer that one for X mount too at a later stage. So let’s hope for that (not a rumor, just a hope of mine).

Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO in Stock (and Already Best Seller)

Share

The Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO is right now in stock at AmazonUS here (via third party at the time of this post).

I expect it to be available very soon also at BHphoto here.

It is also available at the various European Amazon stores, such as AmazonDE hereAmazonUK here, AmazonIT here, AmazonFR here and AmazonES here.

The Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO is arguably one of the most sold Fujifilm digital camera of the last 10 years. It’s available in Asia since a few months and it sold so much, that helped to dethrone Sony from the second spot in digital camera sales in Japan after 19 years, and it will probably make Fujifilm imaging division fly in their next financial report.

As to expect, it is already marked as top seller at BHphoto here and AmazonUS here.

BHphoto has also the first reviews on their website available.

Sigma X Mount

It was Fujifilm’s biggest mistake in 10 years of X mount, but they finally fixed it in 2020: they opened X mount to third party autofocus lens manufacturers.

Since then, we got quite some new AF lenses and you can see the most updated list of X mount AF lenses here.

And latest since the Sigma CEO himself said that they are “thinking on how to satisfy Fujifilm customers“, we can be sure that Sigma is joining the X mount too.

Well, today FujiRumors can give you a few more details.

According to our sources, Sigma will start its X mount adventure by launching three (3) X mount autofocus lenses.

Here on FR we did launch a huge Sigma X mount wishlist survey in the past and your top three overall wishes were these ones.

Did you ever wonder why Fujifilm cameras are so fun to use?

The short answer could be: because (unlike other brands – as SonyAlphaRumors itself admits) Fujifilm has a massive photographic culture that they cherish and honor also in their newest cameras.

Well, inspired by our recent article about the top 10 digital cameras since the launch of the X mount, FR-reader Patrik Roos decided to make a real all time top 10 list looking at the entire Fujifilm heritage.

With one important distinction, though.

He did not simply pick 10 cameras, but indentified 10 aspects of older Fujifilm cameras that form the basis for the current Fujifilm mirrorless offering.

So, what do our modern X and GFX cameras have in common with older Fujifilm cameras? Patrik will answer this for you down below.

I have had a look at some of the features that make up the DNA of the current X and GFX lines and have tried to pinpoint the Fujifilm cameras that introduced those ideas into the Fuji realm. I decided on these 10 points that together form the basis of what the current Fujifilm mirrorless systems are:
