Sony RX100III vs Fujifilm X30 :: which one is the better camera according to Kai (digitalrev)?

Kai from digitalrev compared the the Fujifilm X30 with the Sony RX100III (see youtube). His conclusions are that “there is nothing wrong with the Fuji… it’s a decent (but fat) compact camera, it’s just that the Sony seems to be the better camera overall“.

Here just a few PRO’s he listed about each camera:

Fujifilm X30 PROS: cool looking, bigger & better EVF, feels better in the hand, manual zoom.
Sony RX100III PROS: Pocketable size, flip screen, slightly sharper, more detailed images, better dynamic range, better auto-white balance in low light, better ISO performance

Just let me add one more PRO to the Fujifilm X30… it costs $200 less than the Sony. The Fujifilm X30 is sold for $599, while the Sony RX100III costs $799.

Fujifilm X-PRO2 to be announced first half/early 2015? HSS flash coming too (new source)

The Fujifilm X-PRO2 rumor is by far the trickiest rumor I’ve ever worked on (mainly because Fuji often changes plans about it. Release & Specs may have changed 3 or more times until now). Hence, did you take the holy grain of salt? Ok, then let’s sit down talk about the Fujifilm X-PRO2 now.

First off, the rumor comes from a new source. It’s the same source, who shared the Full Size JPEG’s taken with the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR (and I posted yesterday here). I have the expressed permission of the source to share this detail with all of you.

So, as proven by the pics, the source attended a Fuji event, where it had the opportunity to take some shots with the upcoming XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR and XF 56mm f/1.2 APD… and also to talk to a Fuji Rep. At the event, the Rep told to the source, that the Fujifilm X-PRO2 will be announced “in early or first half next year.” The rep also said that Fuji is working on a HSS flash (which confirms rumors shared previously here).

Sure, with all respect to the Fuji Reps, we still have to be careful with this information. Also, consider that this is a new source. So, again, take it cum grano salis. What we know for sure is that at photokina, Fuji Guy Greg said that the Fujifilm X-PRO2 won’t be Full Frame, but “worth the wait”.

SAVE $90 :: Fujifilm X30 price drops further at cameraland: get it now for $509

It seems that $70 price drop were not enough for top rated ebayUS store cameraland to get rid of 16 Fujifilm X30 (8 black and 8 silver). NOTE: Open Box Items

In fact, the store decided to lower the price for $20 more dollars, so it is now available for $509 ($90 price drop). This further rebate seems to work, as they sold a few cameras. But there are still some left, so check it out at cameraland: [shoplink 28918 ebay]black Fujifilm X30[/shoplink] and [shoplink 28919 ebay]silver Fujifilm  X30[/shoplink].

I told you on the pre-order day: don’t pre-order, wait, there will be price drops soon… and here we have the first serious one (although on Open Box Items). 509 bucks… do you think that’s a fair price for the Fujifilm X30?
