Fujifilm to launch a new PRO-photographer service in 2015 like Nikon’s/Canon’s NPS/CPS! (anonymous source)

[UPDATE: Just now Rick Lewis said in the comments: “Patrick, I think I can confirm this (100%). I spoke with a Fuji USA service tech last month about a fix for the X-T1 D-pad issue and he said no fix yet but the good news is a Fujifilm Pro Services department in 2015. He said it was coming, not maybe it was coming. I actually made him say it twice! :-) Very good news!!”]

According to an anonymous source with nick-name (thanks), Fuji will launch a new PRO-photographer service next year. The service will be like Nikon’s/Canon’s NPS/CPS (they offer 24/7 phone and e-mail support, expedited and discounted equipment maintenance and repairs, Equipment Evaluation Loans, on-site support at select events and shows, discounts on seminars and workshops, and more).

That would be definitely a great news (if true) for those who ditched their DSLR’s to make all their PRO work with the Fuji System. Just let’s cross fingers that the rumor is correct. But for now, the grain of salt is mandatory.

btw, I’d call the service XPS (for eXpress service)… just a suggestion, Fuji… it’s for free ;)

You’re great guys, Keep up sharing rumors !

1) Tom Grill just completed a full hands-on review of the 50-140mm zoom and included plenty of high res samples for downloading so that you can judge the quality by yourself. The whole article and the samples can be checked out at aboutphotography-tomgrill. Here an excerpt:

“The lens is sharp everywhere — center, corners, and all apertures. The Fijifilm MTF charts on it are really impressive, among the best results I’ve ever seen. Is it as good as the rival, full frame equivalent zooms from the big two. Easily, and maybe even better.”

2) Preview of the 50-140 at mikemander:

“So… I don’t know about you, but I’d say that lens is pretty darn sharp! In fact, I actually ended up reducing the default level of sharpening in my PhotoNinja workflow from what I normally have it set to, since this shot was simply rendered far too sharp then. Focusing was silent and very snappy and the image-stabilizer seemed extremely effective as well. The bokeh was nice as long as the background was substantially blurred as in the above shot. With only a slight blur, there is some nervousness (outlining) to high-contrast details, as can be seen in the slightly out-of-focus beard hairs in the above photo.”

ORGANIC SENSOR: The Problem? Too much battery drain and too much heat being generated (new sources)

Share

 photo organic_zpsbb775cc2.jpg

The organic sensor isn’t just a futuristic patent popped out somewhere on the web. In fact it’s Fujifilm itself, that officially announced its development. The official press release says that, together with Panasonic, Fujifilm is working on an organic sensor that will deliver “Industry’s highest dynamic range”.

But what is the situation now? Well, according to 2 new sources the problems are the following:

New source 1) too much battery drain & problems to find a proper processor
New source 2) too much heat being generated

Could these problems be the reason for the Fujifilm X-PRO2 delay? Will it feature an organic sensor once these issues are sorted out? Is this the sensor Fuji is waiting to be ready before launching its new flagship (see this rumor)?

I don’t know it… and I still have NO (!) reliable or even semi-reliable information about a Fujifilm X-PRO2 sporting an organic sensor. However, this weekend I’ve received an anonymous rumor pointing into this direction, but I’d like to hear what trusted sources say about it before sharing more details.

If there is anyone out there who could help to dissipate the doubts and share some more information about the sensor of the Fujifilm X-PRO2, then feel free to contact me 100% anonymously via rumor box (using a nick-name, so that I can eventually recognize you in future) or also via email at fujirumor [at] gmail [dot] com (you can create a fake email address if you prefer).
