best EVF on the market for the weather sealed X (X-T1)?

One of the key features of the upcoming X-T1 will be the EVF. An anonymous source (thx for sharing) told me that even EVF haters will have to admit that the EVF on the “new Fuji T camera” is “pretty damn nice”.

So what makes it so special?

The source said that on the “new Fuji T camera the new EVF is big and beautiful and the refresh rate is the best I’ve ever seen. Really. Greatest EVF on the market… Some cool tricks in the EVF.”

The source also said that “anyone thinking of getting an [shoplink 17516]OM-D[/shoplink] should hold off until the end of the month. So worth the wait.”

Message to anonymous sources: feel free to give yourself a fake name when you drop me messages via rumor box, so that I can recognize you in future, in case you decide to share information again.

Here are the rumored specs:

  • bigger (extra-large) and better (high performance) EVF / (trusted +  anonymous sources)
  • APS-C X-Trans sensor II (16MP) / (trusted +  anonymous sources)
  • double SD-card slot / (trusted sources)
  • weather sealed body / (trusted sources)
  • announcement at the end January / (trusted sources)
  • price range between X-E and X-PRO line / (new and anonymous sources)
  • FujicaST-like design / (source who was right in the past, but not yet upgraded to the elite-team of trusted sources ;-) )
  • faster AF than the X-E2 / (new source)
  • additional battery grip / (anonymous source)
  • name: X-T1 / (anonymous sources)

Any help is appreciated. If there is anyone out there who can tell me more about the weather sealed X (or any other X-gear), please contact me at fujirumor@gmail.com or also completely anonymously via rumor box.

X-T1: is this the real name of the new weather sealed X-camera? (anonymous source)

 photo X-T1_zps49ffe741.jpg

Hi all,

second update today for the weather sealed X (I already told you today here, that the camera will be announced within the end of January).

Now, I copy and paste the information as I’ve received it via rumor box (thanks for sharing):

X-T1 SLR like compact X-mount camera with additional battery grip and shutter release. Same sensor as X-E2. Extra large EVF.”

It’s still unconfirmed, so take it with a grain of salt.

Message to anonymous sources: feel free to give yourself a fake name when you drop me messages via rumor box, so that I can recognize you in future, in case you decide to share information again.

Here is the list of rumored specs (from trusted, new and anonymous sources)… it’s getting better and better with every rumor ;-).

  • bigger (extra-large) and better (high performance) EVF / (trusted +  anonymous sources)
  • APS-C X-Trans sensor II (16MP) / (trusted +  anonymous sources)
  • double SD-card slot / (trusted sources)
  • weather sealed body / (trusted sources)
  • announcement at the end January / (trusted sources)
  • price range between X-E and X-PRO line / (new and anonymous sources)
  • FujicaST-like design / (source who was right in the past, but not yet upgraded to the elite-team of trusted sources ;-))
  • faster AF than the X-E2 / (new source)
  • additional battery grip / (anonymous source)
  • name: X-T1 / (anonymous source)

In the meantime FR-reader Chris posted part two of his day at the CES. Read his blog post X-Series Discussions here: “There was no disucion on weatherproof lenses – the suggestion seemed to be that this was an InterNet rumor rather than a manufacturer statement at this point. […] US revenue market share of Fuji csc is ranked #4 at 10.9 percent for 2013 vs 7.8 percent for 2012 – significant growth. […] They see full frame as more of a marketing hype, a buzz phrase that people latch onto – real photographers don’t think ‘do I have FF?’, they just use the tools to get the results. […] More firmware upgrades in a couple of weeks – live manual exposure preview and file naming for the X100 mentioned.” This and much more here…. great job Chris!

Any help is appreciated. If there is anyone out there who can tell me more about the weather sealed X (or any other X-gear), please contact me at fujirumor@gmail.com or also completely anonymously via rumor box.

The X-E2 is already waterproof !!! … thanks to the Aquapac 451 :-)

Paul Schlemmer decided to write an X-E2 review for his very first blog post… and he tested the camera underwater. So he packed his brand new X-E2 into the Aquapac 451 (price&product images) and dived into the water.

The result is an underwater review with some stunning images as the one above. I’d say it’s a good start for a first blog post. Now let’s make it even better, stop by his blog here and check out his review.

“The housing luckily really is waterproof and It worked like a charm with a great X-E2. It flows in the water, which doesn’t sound like much, but paired with a bundled carrying strap it’s kinda sweet feature and you have one thing less to worry about in the field. Another fact I didn’t know about: Water is acting like a 1.5ish teleconverter to your focal length, so I’ve spent most of my time on 18mm/2.8 around 2000-4000ISO and 1/80-1/125s shutter speed. I expected a worse lighting conditions there, so nothing to complaint about- Fuji X-E2 holds these ISOs pretty well and at the 18mm it focuses surprisingly good&fast even underwater.”

There is also a youtube video about this underwater adventure here.

You wanna try it out? Get the Aquapac 451 here at AmazonUS and BHphoto.
