DigitalRev Fujifilm X-T2 Test: “Get Excited Sport Fans: the X-T2 does Exactly what it Promises. Fuji has a Winner!”

DigitalRev (without Kai) shared its Fujifilm X-T2 First Impressions on youtube.

I recommend you to go directly to minute 6:00 to see how the X-T2 compares to the X-Pro2 when tracking a flying drone. The X-T2 has been set to Electronic Shutter and 14fps shooting (no blackout).

From their conclusions by tracking the drone:

It’s amazing. Only 1 shot was out of focus, and it’s purely my fault! With this Autofocus System, Fujifilm has a winner in their hands! I had a lot more keepers with the X-T2 compared to the X-Pro2.

For Sport fans: Get excited! The X-T2 is exactly what it promises… and a little bit more

They also say the larger Viewfinder and refresh rate helps so much to better track the subject.

I remind you that Fujifilm said that the X-Pro2 will get the new improved AF-algorythm of the X-T2 in a Firmware udpate on October. So I guess there won’t be such a significant AF-discrepancy between the two flagships after the udpate. However, keep in mind that the new Fuji X-T2 AF-Tracking Custom Settings will not be implemented on the X-Pro2 via Firmware update. So for sports, you better go for the X-T2.

And get a grip, too :-)

When most photographers think of shooting sports, they think of 400mm glass on the 50 yard line. When I think of sports, I think about ultra-wide, ultra close. That said, any sporting event involves fast moving action and the need for equipment that can both quickly respond, and take a bit of abuse. These things were on my mind when I covered The Race of Gentlemen this year.

XPRO7720

Once a year, tattooed and heavily bearded men (and a few women) gather in Wildwood, New Jersey, and take over a section of the beach. With beer on tap, loud music, and louder motorcycles and cars, this motley crew waits for the tide to recede and then grinds up the sand racing antique vehicles down a quarter-mile. Known as The Race of Gentlemen, the event is a celebration of a time long passed.
