If you’ll fly to the CES in Las Vegas from 6th to 9th January in the hope to see the X-Pro2, you’ll be highly disappointed. 

In fact, when asked, if the Fujifilm X-Pro2 will show up at CES, the Top-Trusted Japanese Source said

“No, not at CES. Later“

And for me, everything the Top Trusted Japanese source says, is like written in stone.

5 years X-series Celebration! Big Fuji Photo Contest until Nov. 30. Winner announcement + Exhibition in mid-January

The X series line-up began in March 2011 with the introduction of the Fuji X100. Now Fujifim decided to celebrate the 5 years X-series anniversary with a worldwide contest, launched via fujifilm-x.com. Join the contest by submitting your photo, and you might be on of the lucky 100 winners, whose picture will be also displayed at the big Fuji photo exhibition in January 2016 at the Fuji Headquarter… and winner of a prize worth $300!

“Fujifilm will be hosting a photo exhibition at their Headquarters in Tokyo to showcase the passionate and creative photography works of 100 renowned professional “X-Photographers” along with 100 professional or enthusiast “X-Users”.

Fujifilm invites X series users from around the globe to join the celebration and take part in the contest by submitting their favorite photo taken on an X series camera for entry.

A total of 100 photos will be selected by a judging panel of professional photographers, printed by Fujifilm experts and then displayed at the photo exhibition in January, 2016“

I really really really really would love to be there to see the exhibition, but even if I could fly to Tokyo, I doubt anyone of the Fuji Guys would be happy to see me at their Headquarters.

So I’ll stay here at the FujiRumors headquarter, a rented 65 square meter apartment, hoping to be able to make my own party… by … who knows, maybe pre-ordering the Fujifilm X-Pro2 ;) .

Sony Sensor Hegemony: Sony about to aquire Toshiba sensor business (Toshiba makes 2/3 sensors for Fuji)

According to Reuters, Sony will have one less competitor in future, since they are about to purchase Toshiba’s sensor business for $165 million! Currently Toshiba manufactures the 2/3 sensors of the X30 and XQ2 for Fujifilm.

Obviously, less competition is not a good thing for us customers.

Regarding camera sensors, Sony’s main two competitors left are Canon and Samsung. The first is developing a 250MP APS-H sensor (source – CanonWatch), the latter will kill the NX camera line (Samsung NX1), which, in my opinion, was the most exciting product shown at the last photokina , and not only because of its great 28MP sensor (source – mirrorlessrumors).

The growing sensor hegemony of Sony (who recently split up its sensor division into a separate company) is one more reason to hope that the almost mythological Organic Sensor developed by Panasonic & Fuji (partnership announcement back on June 2013) will see the light of the day as soon as possible. However, if we can trust latest rumors shared at 43rumors here, it will still take 2 or 3 years before it will be ready. As rumored here, too much battery drain and heat generation could be one of the problems Fuji and Panasonic have to sort out.

Admiringlight is at the PhotoPlus in NY. They share their 35mmF2 and 1.4x TC hands-on report from the Fuji booth here. Jordan gives us also a confirmation of this rumor here:

“Unfortunately, Fuji did not have new mockups on display of the future XF lenses, which left me mildly disappointed, but the 100-400mm should be out in early 2016. The representative noted that April was a likely target date.“

X-T1 FW will make Video Button a FN-button + Internal Fuji Lens Roadmap with 8mm, 200mm and… 33mmF1.0!

OK X-folks… after the latest announcements, I’ve updated my rumor ranking and saw that I’ve shared 87,27% correct rumors.

That’s waaaaay too high for a rumor site, and so I decided to take a little risk, and share a rumor I’ve just received from an anonymous source with nick-name (thanks a lot for sharing, btw :-) ).

The good thing is: it won’t take long to see if the information shared is correct or not… we just have to wait and see, if the X-T1 firmware will make the video button a function button.

But here is the whole story:

X-T1 FIRMWARE

As you know, Fuji said there will be a new Firmware coming soon. Mostly it’s all about adding XF35mmF2 compatibility to current X-series cameras. However, there might be some extra tidbits, at least for X-T1 shooters.

In fact, the anonymous source says that:

A new firmware update for the X-T1 that will make the video button a function button… as well as some other unspecified updates!

LENS ROADMAP

The source also shares information about an Internal Fuji Roadmap.

there is an internal fujifilm lens roadmap that includes a 8mm, a 200mm and the 33mm.

Yep, it’s the 33mmF1.0. However, according to the source, Fuji is still working to fix issues like AF-speed, and at least this source says that it’s not sure that the XF33mmF1.0 will ever see the light of day! But I’m confident (read this rumor).
