LibRaw Fujifilm X-Pro2 Compressed RAW Support Completed!

lib raw

Earlier in May I told you how the creators of RAW digger & FastRAW Viewer needed the feedback of X-shooters to optimize the compressed Fuji RAW support. Well, it’s done now.

I remind you that many Raw Converters, including open source ones like RawTherapee, Darktable and UFRaw, use this algorithm to decode FujiFilm compressed raw files.

Here is the press release:

Alexey Danilchenko reverse-engineered Fujifilm X-Pro2 compressed RAW and granted LibRaw, LLC the rights to incorporate his code into the LibRaw library.

This decoder is distributed as a part of LibRaw library, subject to LGPL 2.1 and CDDL 1.0 licenses.

The code is available from our Github repository:

The decoder was thoroughly tested with RawDigger and FastRawViewer, no complaints as of today. We thank everyone who sent us sample files and took part in testing.

RUMOR: Bug Fix Firmware for Fujifilm X-Pro2 coming!

Share

FW

According to a trusted source (thanks for sharing), Fujifilm will release a bug fix Firmware for the X-Pro2! This Firmware comes after FW 1.01, which fixed the Reset Issue.

What will it fix? It will probably fix black frame issue (Black Frames between shots in single shot mode) and maybe some other bugs (Full list of X-Pro2 Bugs here)

When will it come? I’m not sure yet. Maybe there will be a dedicated Firmware very soon or maybe it will be bundled with the EF-X500 or 2.0x Teleconverter support Firmware later on. The latter option could allow Fujifilm to “hide” the bug-fix behind a regular support Firmware.

Good to see Fujifilm fixing these bugs… so the Fujifilm X-T2 won’t have these issues at its launch.

Fujifilm Goes Hollywood :: Fuji X-Pro1 used in Movie “The Neon Demon” by Nicolas Winding Refn – NSFW

Youtube Video Here – NSFW

Weekend curiosity – spotted by FXF member Goran (thanks):

The festival of Cannes is running right now, with, as usual, a great selection of movies. One of them is “The Neon Demon” by the Nicolas Winding Refn, a visionary director, who already won the prize as best director in Cannes 2011 with the amazing movie “Drive“.

This movie takes place in Los Angeles, in a world of young and aspiring models obsessed by beauty and success. And of course also a world with lots of photographers!

Well, Nicolas Winding Refn decided to make his movie even cooler, by equipping one of the photographers with a stylish Fujifilm X-Pro1 + 35mmF1.4! You can see it in the trailer here.

It’s nothing new, that Hollywood loves Fujifilm cameras. The X100S was the travel camera of Hector, in the Movie ““Hector’s Search for Happiness” (which I saw in the airplane, when flying back from Cambodia). X-series cameras are also used in TV series like Parenthood TV, The Last Ship and by lots of celebrities.

Fujifilm X-T1 will get One More (and Final?) Kaizen Firmware Update This Year!

You can Now Write your own Articles on FujiRumors!

If there is one camera, that was massively covered by Fuji’s Kaizen Love, then it’s the Fujifilm X-T1. Let’s take a look at the major updates over the last years:

Well… it seems that Fujifilm is planing to release another FW update, that will bring a few new features. I don’t think Fuji will introduce such massive changes, that Rico has to rewrite his X-T1 book, but there should be some tweaks & new features we will all appreciate. So don’t expect gigantic changes, but it won’t be just a “bug fix/add compatibility” firmware :-)

I’ll work to find out the features… and in the meantime, tell us in the comments what you would like to have.

The bad news in all this? One source (thanks dude), said this will be the last “Kaizen Firmware” for the X-T1.

As always, when it comes to Firmware stuff, take it with a grain of salt.

MESSAGE TO THE SOURCE, who also said it will be the last Kazen FW: Thanks for sharing. If you want, contact me via email (create a fake email account if you want). We could talk and exchange some information about the other stuff ;).

have a great day,

Good news (also for Fujifilm): Sony sensor production will resume on May 21!

Share

Sony issued a new press release to inform that the Kumamoto facility damaged during the recent earthquake will resume the wafer sensor production on May 21.

Of course not just the Sony factory has been hit by the earthquake, but also third-party suppliers, who are also very important to keep the sensor production running. In this regard, the press release says:

Although there was a delay in the supply of components to Sony from certain third-party suppliers that also have manufacturing facilities in the Kumamoto region, inventory adjustments have been made and a timeframe for regaining supply levels is now in place, so no material impact is anticipated on Sony’s business operations.

Does this mean there won’t be any delay on future products? I don’t think so :(
