Fujifilm MK Cine Lenses: X-Mount Version Confirmed for Late 2017, Feedback and Canadian Hands On Demo (Aug. 17)

Fujifilm MK Cinema Lenses for X-Mount

We already reported back in April, that Fujiiflm officially said they will launch the X-mount version of the Fujinon MK18-55mm F2.9 and MK50-130mm T2.9 within the end of 2017.

And just in case you are waiting for it and were afraid there could be any delays, don’t worry, another Fujifilm press release confirms that the launch of the X-mount Fujinon MK lenses is still scheduled for late 2017 :)

The Fujinon MK lenses have no OIS (optical image stabilization), which won’t be much of an issue for those of you, who plan to purchase the Fujifilm X-T2S (successor of the X-T2), which will come with IBIS (in body image stabilization).

And as we just reported earlier today, IBIS on the X-T2S will work not only with the MK lenses, but also with all other X-mount lenses.

Besides confirming the late 2017 release for the MK lenses, the press release also shares:

  • Feedback from customers
  • Links to Sample Footage
  • Information about a hands-on demo of the MK-50-135mm in Mississauga (CA) on August 17

FYI: here is the factory tour, that shows where they manufacture the Fujinon MK lenses (and more).

Don’t Worry, Fujifilm X-H1 In Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) will Work with ALL Fujinon X-Mount Lenses

Fujifilm X-T2s IBIS

UPDATE: Fujifilm changed the name from X-T2s to X-H1. All rumored specs remain the same

Fellow Fuji Lovers,

I’m getting some emails from X-shooters, who are worried the IBIS on the Fujifilm X-T2s (the successor of the X-T2) will not work with all Fujinon X-mount lenses, but just with a few ones.

So I thought it might be good to share a little update: the IBIS on the Fujifilm X-T2s will be compatible with all Fujinon X-mount lenses.

This is the information I got from my sources… and since they have always guided me safly through the stormy Fujifilm rumors waters, I have complete and blind trust in them.

Wait, stop… don’t ask me when the X-T2s will hit the market. I’m still not 100% sure (and I don’t know if even Fujifilm itself is 100% sure when to launch it). But you know that here on FujiRumors we often share information already months (if not years!) before official announcements. So the X-T2s could be one month, but also 1 year away.

I’ve created a dedicated Fujifilm X-T2s facebook group, so that you guys can kill the waiting time for the X-T2s with talks, dreams, rumors, news… and just have fun :)

And as always, feel free to join FujiRumors.com also on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter

The Super X-deals

As we reported first here on FujiRumors, the Fujifilm X-T1, a camera that I still own and love, is now officially discontinued (I wrote an emotional farewell here). So, while it was to expect that Fujifilm would launch some nice deals on it, I guess nobody could have imagined that they would be that awesome!

For example, if you buy a $500 discounted Fujifilm X-T1, you will get a free XF35mmF2 WR on top of it!!!

And yes, if you then upgrade to the X-T2s, the XF35mmF2 will be stabilized thanks to IBIS ;)

For those, who always wanted to try the Fujifilm X-system, this is the best deal ever to join the X-side of life ;) . The deals are so good, that even Europeans could save a whole lot of money (all details here).

Insane Fujifilm USA Deals Possibly Great Deals also for Europeans!

Share

Long time FujiRumors readers will remember, when back in February 2014 Fujifilm launched such amazing Fuji X lens deals (especially on the XF27mm), that X-shooters, who ordered from Europe and paid all import taxes and shipping, still saved a whole lot of money.

Well, I haven’t tried by myself, but, given the insane US-X deals, it might be possible that also this time EU residents could save some nice bucks by ordering in USA.

In fact, when you proceed to checkout, BHphoto offers a tool, where they estimate the shipping & tax costs if you order from outside USA.

I’ve used it (for Germany), and it tells me that I’m going to pay overall $1,062 (€912) for the X-T1 with XF35mmF2… and now let’s compare it to AmazonDE.

BHphoto: X-T1 ($799) + XF 35mmF2 ($0) + shipping/taxes to Germany ($213) = $1,062.65 (€ 912)
AmazonDE: X-T1 (€899) + XF 35mmF2 (currently discounted at €413) = € 1,312

That’s a total saving of €400 for EU residents, who grab the X-T1 + 35/2 in USA… also wenn das kein Schnäppchen ist… ;)

So if any EU resident wants to try it, feel free to let us know in the comments. You can find the full list of US-X savings below.

Keep in mind three things:

  • I haven’t actually ordered the gear. I’ve just used the tool BHphoto offers at checkout to calculate the total costs. I can’t say if it’s 100% accurate.
  • by ordering in USA you won’t get the standard 2 year EU warranty, but only the 1 year international one
  • in some countries, BH might not be able to ship it because of the lithium batteries. A workaround suggested by a FR-reader in the comments is to choose FedEx or UPS for international service. Ask in the comments for more details
