Three X-series cameras have been registered at the Chinese radio wave authentication institution (where all WiFi capable devices have to be registered).

  • X-MF1
  • X-T2
  • X-T2 Pro

The fact that these cameras have now been registered, means that the announcement (not release) could be imminitent (spring/early summer)

One big surprise is the X-T2 Pro. It could indicate that Fuji will release 2 different X-T2 bodies. Maybe the X-T2 Pro could be slightly larger and fit a bigger/better battery. Also the heat dissipation would be easier on a larger body, eliminating overheating issues while shooting 4K video.

Do you think it’s a smart move to offer two different bodies?

The other huge surprised is the X-MF1, which really sounds like the Medium Format camera. I wasn’t expecting it to come so fast. But competitors are not sleeping and Fujifilm might have decided to step on the gas.

NOTE: The original EXCEL file has been removed, but the FR-reader, who passed me the link (thanks) saved it and send it to me. For now I’ll share a screenshot. I’ll share the full File on my dropbox next.

[UPDATE: March 24 FW release] Fuji X-Pro2 Firmware coming before Easter (so before March 27, if there are no last second delays)

follwo

UPDATE: A source reacted to this rumor and dropped anonymously the date of the Firmware release via rumor box: it says March 24 (FW1.1 XP2)! Never forget the grain of salt when it comes to FW-rumors!

Message to this source: the FW will fix the reset issue. Do you know of any other bugs that will be fixed? Feel free to use the rumor box again… and maybe give yourself a nick-name

Original Post

The Fuji X-Pro2 Firmware fix is coming, very soon, as a trusted source told us here. As you might remember, Fuji New Jersey said to a FR-reader, that they planed to release it end of last week… but apparently the Firmware wasn’t yet ready.

However, according to a source, who was right in the past, this could be the week of its announcement. Sure, as we have seen in the past, FW-release dates can change quickly. But the source was very confident that it would be released “before Easter” (so before March 27).

Californian Company converting Zeiss Loxia E-mount Lenses to Fuji X Mount – New Source

loxia

Back in spring 2013, Zeiss launched 2 Touit lenses for Fuji X mount, the 32mmF1.8 and 12mmF2.8… and it was a huge fiasco.

Zeiss failed not because their lenses were bad… not at all. It’s just that they were too similar in focal length to existing Fujinon lenses, more expensive, and optically not superior (probably even inferior) to the XF35mmF1.4 and XF14mmF2.8. More at the ultimate Zeiss Touit Vs. Fujinon XF shootout.

Since then, Zeiss added one more Touit lens to the line-up, the 50mmF2.8 1:1 Macro, and that’s it, no more X-mount lenses… and as far as I know, Zeiss has currently no plans to offer new X-mount lenses.

However, according to a new source (so take it with a grain of salt), there is right now a company in California, that is right now converting the E-mount Zeiss Loxia lenses to Fuji X Mount!

The Zeiss Loxia offer currently consists in the following 3 lenses: the 21mmF2.8, the 35mmF2 and the 50mmF2 (specs&price for each lens at BHphoto / AmazonUS / FocusCamera / Adorama)

Could the Loxia X-mount sell well amongst X-shooters? I have my doubts, as we are spoiled by the excellent (and currently also super-discounted) Fujinon glass, so it’s hard to compete with it.

Some third party X-mount lenses, though, have become very popular amongst X-shooters, like the (very affordable) Samyang 12mmF2 (which I own and just can recommend).

I personally do not feel the need of the Loxia glass, but I’m also a friend of the good old saying: the more, the merrier!

Trusted Source: X-Pro2 Bug-Fix Firmware Coming Soon :: Fujifilm New Jersey says to FR-reader FW release end of this week

follwo

It’s confirmed now by a Trusted Source: the reset issue is fixable via Firmware.

When will it come? FR-reader Silvestro had a call with Fuji New Jersey and shared what they told him here:

I talked to at the New Jersey facility said they knew all about it…it had happened to them actually […] he also said that by the end of the week there would be a Firmware fix

I can’t confirm for now the “end of this week FW-fix“, but it’s good to know that it’s not a hardware issue. And of course, trusted or not, the past has shown us that when it comes to Firmware updates, we should always take it with a grain of salt… even if it’s Fujifilm itself, who announces them ;)
