Fujifilm GFX100: Most Compelling Reason to Step Up from Full Frame

Fujifilm GFX100

The Fujifilm GFX100 is getting tons of positive feedback so far, and it seems that reviewers can’t really believe they are holding a medium format sensor camera in their hands, since everything with a digital sensor bigger than 35mm was notoriously slow.

The Fujifilm GFX100 changed the game: it is fast and responsive, despite having a 70% larger sensor than full frame and 100 megapixel. And thanks to IBIS, it is also versatile.

I am sure: Fujifilm has winner here!

Also Cameralabs went hands on with the Fujifilm GFX100. Down below are his findings and his video above:

Fujifilm X-Pro3, X-H2, X100V, Panasonic Full Frame Fiasco, XF33mm F1.0, GFX 100 – Breaking May FR-Rumors and Top 15 Articles

Top of the Posts

May was an extremely busy month, with 79 articles written in 31 days, the GFX100 live blogging and… my marriage (no, can’t buy any new gear for a while with what that cost ;).)

In May, FujiRumors has also delivered several breaking rumors about the following Fujifilm cameras:

  • Fujifilm X-Pro3
  • Fujifilm X-H2
  • Fujifilm X100V (or X200)

I consider all rumors 100% accurate.

It’s not our style to mislead and clickbait people with fake made up rumors, sadly a practice that is going strong these days. FR is well fueld with reliable rumors, we do not need to go down the desperate fake rumor road.

And I tell you more…

I now slow down a few days to recover, but then  I’ll be back with rumors, especially with one that might surprise you positively. You can dream now and I’ll tell you later, once I have green light from the source :).

Back to us, and to the very busy month of May.

So many things happened, that I thought to list the top 15 read articles for May down below, so you can catch up in case you missed them.

BAD NEWS: Laowa 17mm f/4 for GFX to Come “Hopefully” by the End of 2019

Just yesterday, FujiRumors shared with you the leak about the Laowa 17mm f/4 for Fujifilm GFX.

The leak included updated specs as well as the price of the lens.

This lead many of us to think that an announcement is imminent, especially since the precise price tag is one of the last things companies decide, before releasing a product.

However, I have been contacted by a FR-reader, who was in touch with Laowa a few days ago, and they told him:

The 17mm f/4 Fuji GFX will ba launched hopefully at the end of 2019

When I visited Venus Optics at Photokina in September 2018, they told me the Laowa 17mm f/4 for GFX will come in December 2018, later on they told me it will come in March 2019.

Now it seems that we have to arm ourselves with patience again, and cross fingers that it will be at least end fo 2019.

ALPA XO Exoskeleton for Fujifilm GFX100 Unveiled

ALPA just announced the ALPA XO Exoskeleton for Fujifilm GFX100:

ALPA XO, the high-end exoskeleton for the brand new Fujifilm GFX 100 camera. ALPA introduces the extraordinary ALPA XO line, which supports the new generation of medium format cameras for still and moving images. The first series of products will include the ALPA XO exoskeleton, top handle and professional adapter for PL and LPL cine lenses. Of course, everything will be modular and flexible in ALPA style.

Filmmakers use camera cages to add various kinds of accessories to their rig. With ALPA XO, they can attach handles, matte boxes, follow- and remote focus systems, field monitors, recorders and wireless video solutions to match their creative vision. Even without the need for accessories and other lens mounts, the XO-cage will reinforce and protect your camera in every situation.

Just one week after the official launch of the Fujfifilm GFX 100, you can see the prototypes of the ALPA XO Exoskeleton for the Fujifilm GFX 100 at CineGear 2019 in Los Angeles at the booth of Fujifilm and Samy’s. On the latter also together with the ALPA Switar Cine Prime Lenses.

Laowa 17mm f4 Zero-D for Fujifilm GFX Coming Soon for $1,249

Laowa 17mm f4 Zero-D GFX

The wait was longer than expected, but it seems that the Laowa 17mm f/4 Zero-D GFX will come soon.

It will be priced at $1,249 and down below the google translated version from the Chinese site xitek.

The Laowa 17mmF4 lens is a super wide-angle zero-distortion lens tailored for Fuji medium format players. The equivalent full frame size is 13.5mm and the field of view angle is 113°, allowing Fuji medium format players to experience a wider picture without switching. Expected listing price of $1,249

When I visited Venus Optics at Photokina 2018, they told me the Laowa 17mm f/4 for GFX will come in December 2018, later on they told me it will come in March 2019. Well, now let’s hope that the wait is really soon over!

Also, some specs have changed now as opposed to the one displayed at Photokina. The aperture blades now seem to be 5 instead of 7 (a typo?).

For your convenience, I have translated the latest specs list appeared today in China and compared it to the ones I photographed at the Venus Optics booth at Photokina 2018.

Brought to you first, here on FujiRumors ;)
