Fringer just released firmware update 1.30 for its EF-X smart adapter, which further improves the AF accuracy using the lenses listed below.
They also say that the adapter, which sold like hot cakes, will be in stock again in late March / beginning of April. Full release notes below and at Fringer blog here.
Brian just released Iridient X-Transformer 1.0.1. It adds support for Fujifilm X-H1, X-A5 and X-A20. Iridient Developer 3.2.2 will be out shortly.

Gear talk, pixel peeping, specs, ratings, ergonomics, comparisons… that’s all nice and good, and in fact I pixel peeped really a lot in the last few days, thanks to the lab tests at imaging-resource and dpreview.
Everybody agrees, that there is a slight difference between X-H1 and X-T2.
Some try to analize it rationally, some others try to shitstorm on dpreview, accusing them of faulty tests.
Here on FujiRumors we are much more relaxed. We trust those guys at dpreview, who do such lab tests since ages now. And also Tony Northrup shared with FujiRumors his X-H1 Vs- X-T2 thoughts in the comments to FR here, and he also noticed a difference.
But here is the thing… after heavy pixel peeping, I checked what’s happening at our marvellous Fujifilm X-H facebook group, and I saw some fantastic shots already! And I was reminded, that at the end of the day, also the X-H1 is nothing but a tool that helps us to express our creativity and our passion.
So I thought it’s high time to focus again on the artistic and creative aspect of photography (which came way too short on FR lately), and I decided to share 4 images from the group. I’m sure you will love them just as much as I do.

There was quite some buzz in the last days, after…
My own theory was (and still is), that Fujifilm fine tuned the image processing in JPEG files, and hence we see a difference on the X-H1 over the X-T2.
What is sure, is that at very high ISO there are some differences, mostly in favor of the X-H1, but not always.
Now also DPReivew has uploaded their studio lab test, where you can pixel peep again, and also compare the RAW images, as you can see below.
In RAW, the Fujifilm X-H1 does not show, IMO, any improvement over the X-T2. Actually in some cases at highest ISO values, I prefer a the results of the X-T2.
So it’s safe to assume that behind the improvement at high ISO in JPEG there is a fine tuned image processing.
Keep in mind that DPReview uses Adobe Photoshop to demosaic RAW files, which, out of the box with standard settings, is notoriously not the best option for X-Trans files.
I wish they would either adapt the import settings to X-Trans files (as we reported in our debunking X-Trans myths article), or add Iridient & other RAW converters to their lab tests, which do make a better job with X-Trans files out of the box.
By sticking to Adobe default settings, every X-Trans file will always be a bit less sharp than it is when using the default settings of other converters. The ultimate “fair” comparison would be to offer the option to select also the RAW converter along with the camera model. Something like the image below.

ePhotoZine just published their full Fujifilm X-H1 review, and they confirm what we already noticed, when we pixel peeped in the imaging-resource X-H1 lab test: image quality is improved over the Fujifilm X-T2, due to “slightly better noise performance at high ISO speeds“.
Another reason for the “improved” IQ is IBIS. Over at our X-H facebook group, there are really many people very happy about the new life their OIS-less lenses like the XF90mmF2 got thanks to IBIS. They shoot at 1/4 shutters speeds with the XF 90mm, where in the normally they would use 1/100 or even higher. Overall they now have a lot more keepers than before.
They end up highly recommending the Fujifilm X-H1, because “if you want to be able to create high-quality looking video as well as shoot impressive still photos, then the Fujifilm X-H1 provides the best of both worlds.”
