Fujifilm X-E4

A few weeks ago we broke the rumor that the Fujifilm X-E4 will not have a fixed screen.

Among the 180+ comments shared in that article, some were surprised, as this would be the first X-E camera after the X-E1, X-E2, X-E2S and X-E3 not to have a fixed screen, whereas others feared/hoped for a fully articulating screen like Fujifilm X-T4 and X-S10, given the 2020 rise of selfie screens.

Now sources would like me to clarify that the X-E4 will not have a fully articulating screen like the one the X-S10 or X-T4.

As a former owner of all X-E cameras (except X-E2s), I would have been totally fine with a fixed screen, but depending on which design Fujifilm chooses, I could be happy also with a non-fixed screen. I wrote my preferences here.

Merry Christmas and THANK YOU to Sources, Supporters… and to YOU!

Share

I would like to wish to all FR-readers merry Christmas and I want to take this little space to say thank you to:

🖤 to our amazing sources, who are always helping me to find the right track in the thick rumor jungle
🖤 to all those, who supported me by using affiliate links or clicking on google banners. It’s really as simple as that: without your help, this blog would have to close tomorrow morning
🖤 to all those FR-readers, who shared Fujifilm news with me, commented kindly, criticized my work constructively, voted a survey, shared an article on social media or simply stopped by to read this blog

Without your help and your massive engagement, this blog would just be a sad place with no comments and no breaking rumors, incapable of bringing fire and excitement into the Fujifilm community.

Your wonderful support is the best Christmas present I can think of for this blog, and I feel blessed and lucky for that.

I am thankful with all my heart and I’ll try to give back something to this community by working as hard as I can to keep you informed and up to date will all things Fuji X and GFX 365 days a year.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays,
love you guys,
Patrick

Feel free to donate a few bucks to KNGO, an NGO who gives access to free education to poor kids in Cambodia, and which we raised $5,000 for in the past. You find the paypal link in the FR sidebar. Donate even just a few bucks helps a lot, even more so in these difficult times.

It’s the helpers, who make this world a better place.

Fujifilm Instax Wide Printer Concept

Share

Fujifilm went rather crazy with its Instax products: from the Helly Kitty Instax camera to the Taylor Swift Instax SQ6, Instax printers for Square and Mini format, and all sorts of film variations like the Instax Star Wars film or the Instax Monochrome.

And it makes sense, as Fujifilm strongest product in the imaging division is Instax.

But despite kicking out all sorts of products, Fujifilm continues to ignore one product, that I am sure would be a huge success: a Fujifilm Instax Wide printer.

We have asked for it several times, and I included it in my list of the 3 big error Fujifilm is making.

But nothing happened.

So, it’s time to raise our voice one more time and let Fujifilm know about our desire for such a prodcut, by sharing an email I have received from Jacob!

Here on FujiRumors we say it since years now: Fujifilm needs to give us an Instax Wide printer, but so far nothing happened.

But we don’t give up!

For this reason, I’d like to share an email I have received from Jacob, who made a rendering of an Instax Wide printer and included a short wishlist. I hope this helps to remind Fujifilm that we’d love to get

Hi Patrick,

I modeled an Instax Wide printer hoping it might motivate Fuji to develop their own. Here’s a couple of renderings of the design, clearly inspired by their SP-3 Instax square printer.

As you said here, it really seems like a missed opportunity because of the wide film’s familiar aspect ratio, and more resolution/size. Here’s a couple other reasons it could be awesome:

  • Untapped market: even photographers who don’t own a Fuji camera but want to share images might be more likely to use a larger, landscape aspect print.
  • Film Simulations?: Not sure if this is possible, but maybe film simulations could be added in the smartphone app. Then the print settings could be adjusted to affect the Instax film. This could expose many Instax users to Fuji’s digital cameras, as well as provide the opportunity to experiment with film simulations.
  • Exif/custom messages: since all cameras and smart phones have either 4:3 or 3:2 camera sensors, the margins on the edge could print Exif data or custom messages (see photo).

Maybe we need a survey to see if Fuji wants to make one?

Internet Declares the Top Gear 2020: Fujifilm X-T4 Top or Flop? Love for X100V, X-S10 and XF50mm1.0

2020 Gear of the Year

It’s that time of the year, when blogs and youtube channels declare their best gear of the year.

We have already shared what DPReviewTV thinks is best here and what DPReview blog thinks is best.

Now it’s time for a roundup what all others consider their top and flop gear 2020.

The Fujifilm X-T4 is the best camera 2020 winner for CineD, Techradar, ePhotozine and also according to the German Stiftung Warentest, which is the go-to source for independent and competent reviews in Germany.

One prominent exception: Tony Northrup says the X-T4 the biggest disappointment of 2020. Why? You’ll find his video below. He might not like the X-T4, but he appreciates the X-S10, which Tony delcars the best camera below $1,000.

The Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR is second best for Techradar and BH Explora.
