BREAKING: Fujifilm X-T30II has No IBIS and is “More or Less an X-T30 on Firmware Steroids”

We already told you that Fujifilm will launch the Fujifilm X-T30II.

Now sources reached out to us and told us that it will be “more or less a Fujifilm X-T30 on firmware steroids“.

Another source (thanks) told me that it won’t have IBIS, which is one of the features many thought would be added on the X-T30II.

End of rumor… and now, dear X-T30 owners, be kind to Fujifilm in the comments if you want to get Kaizen love ;).

P.S.: Yep, I once told you the X-E4 would be the last X-Trans 4 camera. Now we have this one. But now you also get it why the X-E4 is really the last X-Trans IV camera, as this one is an X-T30 with new firmware. But don’t worry, I’ll move it into my wrong rumors list anyway.

Sensor Cleaning and IBIS

For most users of X-Series cameras, do-it-yourself sensor cleaning with blowers, sticky sticks or swabs is a matter of course. However, things can get a little bit tricky if your camera has IBIS.

by Rico Pfirstinger

Sooner or later, cameras with interchangeable lenses get dust or dirt on the sensor. When the built-in sensor-cleaning function (SET UP > USER SETTING > SENSOR CLEANING > OK) doesn’t help, you can clean the sensor by yourself.

If you leave your camera’s sensor exposed, it will soon collect dust and spots from dried fluids.

Popular Sensor Cleaning Options

  • Touchless cleaning involves using a blower, like the Giottos Rocket Air Blaster, to rid the sensor of dust particles. A key feature of such devices is a filter in the intake valve that prevents contaminated (dusty) air from being blown against the sensor.
Caution! Don’t use compressed air from aerosol cans that contain propellants. Particles could hit the sensor like tiny projectiles and damage the protective surface!
  • Tough sensor dirt (like water or oil stains) requires wet cleaning with a sensor swab. They consist of wipers that are wetted with special cleaning fluids. Wipe one side of the swab from left to right over the full width of the sensor, and then from right to left with the other side of the swab. Your X-mount camera requires swabs that match APS-C-sized sensors.

EXCLUSIVE: Fujifilm GFX50SMKII will Have IBIS

Let me clarify one thing.

I recently told you that the Fujifilm GFX50SMKII will look exactly like the Fujifilm GFX100S.

Of course, being Fujifilm’s cheapest GFX camera to date, inside some things might be different compared to the GFX100S, for example, the GFX50SMKII will use the old 50MP CDAF only sensor of the current GFX50 cameras.

But I am glad to report, that, despite being substantially cheaper than the GFX100S, and even cheaper than any current GFX50 camera, the Fujifilm GFX50SMKII will still have IBIS.

So yes, it will have IBIS inside.

Fujifilm is really getting aggressive with this camera.

Last note: I might get my GFX100S this week. But no sign of the lens I ordered. It’s since late April that they keep telling me it should come soon. Now it’s late June, and nothing.

Fujifilm GFX100S/GF80mm Afterparty: Excellent IBIS and 3 Things You Might have Missed

Oh boy, we had an epic GFX100S, X-E4 and Lens live blog yesterday. Make sure to go back and check it out.

Today we add two more to the bunch: the Fujifilm USA introducing the GFX100S. They explain lots of stuff we already know, but they also say some things that might have passed unnotice, like that Nostalgic Negative is inspired by the American New Color Photography.

DPReview shares 3 things we might have missed about the GFX100S. One of the things we might have missed, is that the GFX100S has really great IBIS, that makes it easy to take handheld images that take advantage of all 102 megapixels.

We add to the bunch the Fujifilm Nordic afterparty with Jonas Rask, Palle Schultz and more (make sure not to miss the last part of the video… it’s the most fun one!)

Enjoy it below.

Fujifilm X-E4 Will Not Have IBIS

A while back, we investigated if the brand new compact IBIS system of the Fujifilm X-S10 would fit in the Fujifilm X-E3.

I took technical sketches of the X-S10 IBIS unit provided by Fujifilm and overlapped it to the X-E3.

We could see, that techinically it looks like there would be space for the X-S10 IBIS in the X-E3, and hence also on the upcoming X-E4 (if the X-E4 would have the same size of X-E3).

But today I have to report that, according to our information, the X-E4 has no IBIS.

I don’t know if this is just a matter of costs, or if Fujifilm decided to make the X-E4 even smaller than its predecessor.

Or maybe it’s the price we have to pay to get a flip up screen that still allows the LCD to be flush to the body like on the X100V.

So what, is the potential lack of IBIS a dealbreaker for you? Feel free to let us know in the comments.

BREAKING: New Fujifilm GFX100 with IBIS will be “About as Big” as Fujifilm GFX50S

I have been told by trusted sources, that the new Fujfilm GFX100 will be “about as big” as the Fujifilm GFX50S.

And remember, the new Fujifilm GFX100 features IBIS!

It’s astonishing how much Fujiflm has downsized the IBIS unit in such a short time, considering that the one on the Fujiflm GFX100 clearly does not fit in the GFX50S or GFX50R.

Oh, and if you wonder what that “Xg” camera is next to the Fujifilm GFX50S, that’s one of the Fujiflm GFX mockups that Fujifilm has shown to DPReview back in 2019 here.

I have no idea who the new Fujifilm GFX100 will look like, but certainly it would not hurt if it would like that mockup.

RUMOR: Smaller Fujifilm GFX100 will Have IBIS and Coming Early 2021

The New Fujifilm GFX100

There is a bit of confusion, so let me clear things up, as well as add something new to it.

Yes, Fujifilm did announce a new Fujifilm GFX100, but that one is an infrared version for forensic use, pretty much as the special Fujifilm X-T1 infrared version.

The Fujifilm GFX camera we rumor here on FujiRumors since a while now, is not an IR Fujifilm GFX100 camera and also not a monochrome camera.

As we told you here, it’s a 102 megapixel Bayer sensor camera that is smaller than the current Fujifilm GFX100. Also, as we told you in October, it will come in early 2021.

IBIS or Not?

Now, some wrote me, speculating that the new smaller GFX100 won’t have IBIS. And in fact, the IBIS unit on the current GFX100 ain’t small at all.

We already made a rendering of the Fujifilm GFX100 IBIS unit mounted on the Fujifilm GFX50S and Fujifilm GFX50R. As you can see, it is definitely too big for any other GFX camera. But since then, Fujifilm has made serious progress when it comes to making the IBIS unit smaller.

And here is what I can tell you today: the new smaller Fujifilm GFX100 coming in early 2021 will have IBIS.

This comes from trusted sources.
