2 days ago they posted the samples, and now the full photographyblog review about the X-A1 is online here:

“Noise is noticeable only by its almost complete absence throughout the ISO range of 100-25,600, while the Dynamic Range function helps to boost contrast and detail. The 16-50mm kit lens is also worthy of mention, as although it has a cheaper build quality, it still offers sharp results throughout the focal range. The X-A1 is certainly right up there with the best APS-C sensor cameras on the market, so if image quality at a very affordable price is paramount, the X-A1 fits the bill.”

Good news first: The indigo blue X-A1 is in stock at BHphoto. Click here to check it out.

Bad news: It seems that BHphoto was too optimistic when they estimated the availablity of the XF 23mm f/1.4 for today. The new date is Octobere 30. Thanks Roger for telling me about it and to LetThereBeLight who said: “Just an fyi… I ordered my 23mm f1.4 through your site link to B&H. I noticed their expected availability was October 3rd and I looked today and it is expected on the 30th instead. I spoke to B&H customer service and they said the 30th is what is expected now and they do not have a shipment currently expected for tomorrow from Fuji. The representative told me I was near the top of the list as my order was placed at the time of pre-order release. I should be expecting shipment to begin on the 30th.. I guess we will be waiting a little longer!!”

X-Trans RAW conversion now also with Photo Ninja

Fujirumors taking a little rest in the fresh air before the hot announcements on October 18th :)

stay tuned on Fujirumors on October 18th via facebook, twitter and RSS feed

Neil wrote me an email saying that “the PictureCode people have come out with preliminary support for X-Trans sensors in their latest PhotoNinja pre-release 1.20. I had sent them some pics earlier to help and they had some other work done but even with it being preliminary it feels like it’s better than the other raw converters out there.”

Another feedback from Larry: “PictureCode (of Noise Ninja fame) is working on a version of Photo Ninja that will accommodate the Fuji X-Trans cameras.  Even in the pre-release version, they claim fewer problems with the greens.”

Now the final version is available here! If you want, try it out and leave your feedback in the comments.

In the meantime VKphoto made a first comparison (Photo Ninja, LR5, C1 and Iridient Developer): “I found that Photo Ninja’s renders x-trans raw files very similar to Capture One Express and a bit of moire is also visible on the bird’s feathers. Iridient Developer is still the “King of Raw Converters”. It pulls more details with no traces of moire whatsoever.” Check the comparison out here.

enjoy your day

The full X-A1 review is online! ephotozine highly recommends this camera. Very good value for the money and:

“[the X-A1] delivers impressive image quality, with low noise right up to ISO3200 and ISO6400 while retaining good levels of detail. Some may even find the results from this camera preferable to the results from the more expensive X-M1. With the introduction of the X-A1, Fujifilm also introduced a number of more affordable lenses, making the Fujifilm X series a much more compelling system. With impressive image quality and a camera packed with features, we would highly recommend the Fujifilm X-A1.”

Read the whole review at ephotozine here. And for a little bit of pixel peeping check out the X-M1 at 12800 and the X-A1 at 12800. Or check out this small comparison of an anonymous FR-reader.

And also photographyblog posted its X-A1 samples here. They seem to confirm the stellar high ISO performance of the X-A1.

I did a quick comparison for you. But feel free to make your own pixel peeping tests and leave a comment. MJr said: “The X-A1 definitely appears to have lots of ‘smart’ noise reduction.” So does it all depend from the settings?

cheers
Patrick
