On December 18th, Fujfilm announced the new handgrips for the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 / X-E2, giving enhanced performance when using a tripod. Now, one month later, you can finally pre-order it at AmazonUS here.

thx for telling, 2daloo.

Product description:

(1) High quality X Series design
Maintaining the quality associated with X Series cameras, the new hand grip bases are milled from aluminum block with the grip designed to integrate perfectly with the camera, to deliver firm grip whilst keeping a stylish silhouette.
(2) Optimum balance that allows sufficient clearance from the camera body base when the camera is tripod mounted with a large-diameter lens
The new hand grips allow an additional 8mm clearance from the camera body base to prevent large-diameter lenses such as the XF23mm and XF55-200mm from interfering with the tripod head.
(3) Allows battery and memory card access without removing the grip
The MHG-XPRO and MHG-XE hand grips are designed specifically to allow users to open the camera’s battery cover for speedy access to the battery or memory card even while the grip is mounted on a tripod.
(4) Enhanced operability with a tripod
The hand grips have a tripod-mounting screw hole positioned so that the rotation axis of the tripod is aligned with the optical axis of the lens to enable panning and framing free of rotation displacement. The base part also features a 38mm-wide protrusion that acts as a quick-release dovetail plate for use with a dovetail tripod mount.

Tilt screen for the X-T1!

Share

 photo X-T1_zps86f3c1e1.png

First of all, let me tell you this: this rumor comes from a source who was right in the past and who also told me over two months ago that the weather sealed X (X-T1) will have a vintage SLR-design (inspired by the FujicaST). It has not yet been upgraded to trusted source… but if it’s right with the tilt-screen and the retro SLR design, then it will be upgraded.

So here is the rumor:

The source told me that the X-T1 will have a tilt screen!

And a couple of days ago another FR-reader had a talk with a Fuji rep at the CES. He wrote me this email:

“At CES. Speaking at new camera and it was implied to be announced in weeks. […] When I mentioned that the Sony had a “tilty-floppy” screen, he grabbed another model in the Fuji line and said, “We know how to do a flip screen. What makes you think we don’t like flip screens?”. When asked if the new camera would have such a screen, there were two answers… “Maaaybe…”. And “What new camera?”

Here is the poll some of you asked for in the comments to older posts.

For Macro Photography I prefer the...

Here is what Fujfilm Middle East teased in the last few days. It looks like a mix between Hall 9000 and Wall-E’s girlfriend and it’s called X-Robot. All we know until now is written at Fujfilm Middle East facebook page:

“X-Robot has finally arrived!! Just in time to help photographers elevate their visuals. With tips and tricks that he has picked up in his adventures, X-Robot will bring all his knowledge into the service of photographers of all competency levels. Watch this space for more X-Robot!”

I still prefer Rico’s book “Mastering the X-PRO1 and X-E1” to elevate my photography skills.

And now lemme focus again on the X-T1.

X-T1: No double SD-card slot, but super-fast writing speed (UHS-II) and 8fps with AF-tracking!

Share

 photo 140110_new-fujica-4_zpsd7b49fbe.jpg

Dear FR-readers,

I’ve waited a few days now, hoping for other trusted sources to confirm the following rumor. But they can’t, for now.

So, once again, we have to rely on what the top trusted Japanese source told me a few days ago.

I can’t wait further, so hold on tight now… time has come to share it with all of you!

The Japanese source told me that the X-T1 won’t have a double SD-card slot. The truth is that it will feature an improved SD-card memory system.

This means that the X-T1 will support the UHS-II SD-cards for super-fast writing speed. For example, the [shoplink 20816 ebay]Toshiba Exceria Pro UHS-II SD Card[/shoplink] writes at 240 MB/s! In comparison, the “fast” UHS-I [shoplink 20823]Sandisk Extreme Pro[/shoplink] writes at 90MB/s (95MB/s read rate)!

Also drastically improved, the burst mode! The X-T1 will be able to shoot with 8fps with AF tracking. I had to take a look at my X-E2 manual, and it says that the X-E2 achieves a maximum continuous shooting speed of 3 fps with AF tracking (7 without tracking).

Well, if true (I hope other trusted sources can confirm this soon), then this, my friends, will be a hell of a camera!

This is all I know from trusted sources for now… if anyone has some more information, please contact me via email or anonymously via rumor box.

At this point I believe that also the new source, who told me that the AF of the X-T1 will be faster than the AF of the X-E2 may have mixed up AF speed with writing speed. But it’s just my theory. So here is an updated specs list.

  • announcement January 28th (trusted source)
  • bigger (extra-large) and better (high performance) EVF / (trusted +  anonymous sources)
  • APS-C X-Trans sensor II (16MP) / (trusted +  anonymous sources)
  • support for the UHS-II SD-card for super-fast writing speed / (trusted sources)
  • 8fps with AF tracking / (trusted source)
  • weather sealed body / (trusted sources)
  • name: X-T1 / (anonymous source + Fujifilm)
  • FujicaST-like (SLR-type) design / (source who was right in the past, but not yet upgraded to trusted source)
  • price range between X-E and X-PRO line / (new and anonymous sources)
  • additional battery grip / (anonymous source)
  • faster AF then X-E2 / (new source)

cheers,
facebook, google+ and twitter

P.S.: in the meantime Fujifilm Middle East continues to tease that “something” that looks like a “shooting star” is “coming soon” from “somewhere out there”. To make it a bit clearer I modified their image :-)

X-T1: Name confirmed by Fujifilm itself + X-T1 designed by FR-reader Iannis!

Share

 photo XT1_zpsee568c77.png

[UPDATE: The X-T1 has been removed and replaced with the X-E2] FR-reader Eugene Sidorov (website) spottet the name X-T1 at Fuji’s FAQ site here. Thanks a lot Eugene!

Another FR-reader, Iannis, imagined how the X-T1 could look like, according to the rumors and the image leaked yesterday. Here are his two images, one with built in grip and one without.Which one do you like more? Thanks Iannis

Note the ISO-dial on the left site. I like that!

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

stay tuned on Fujirumors via facebook, google+ and twitter and don’t miss the news and rumors!
