Fujifilm just presented the official Financial Results for the Fiscal Year 2017/3 2nd Quarter here. Among the others they say:

In the electronic imaging field, while the overall sales decreased due to the negative impact of yen appreciation and other factors, the sales of flagship models of the mirrorless digital camera FUJIFILM X-T2, which was launched in September sold well

The sales of instant photo systems such as the instax series and instax films, remained strong especially  in the United States and Europe. The high-value-added printing businesses such as the  photobook services expanded. In the electronic imaging field, the sales of digital cameras decreased due to the negative impact of yen appreciation and other factors, while the sales of such flagship models of the mirrorless digital camera as FUJIFILM X-Pro2 and FUJIFILM X-T2, and interchangeable lenses increased steadily.

Fujifilm X-T2 Vs. X-T1 In Depth Comparison

Share

_ _ _

If you think the Fujifilm X-T2 outperforms the good old X-T1 under just every aspect, well, then you are mostly right. But the X-T1 is not bad at all… and in fact it might do a few things still better than the X-T2, at least according to the very comprehensive in depth comparison at mirrorlesscomparison.

A short summary for those, who are in a hurry right now… but as soon as you have time, make sure to check out the full comparison here:

  • X-T2: Adobe handles 24MP files better than 16MP files
  • Skin Tones (jpeg): X-T1 Jpeg has more natural rendering. X-T2 has a greener tint. “It seems that the X-T2 requires more tweaks to get better results than the X-T1 for skin tones and white balance.”
  • X-T2 preserves Highlights better
  • When you push your post-processing to the limit (e.g. recovering 5 stops in low light) […] the X-T1 displays less noise because of the lower megapixel count
  • X-T2 can show purple flare and a grid artefact in backlit situations (unlikely to happen with X-T1). The reviewer says: “Personally I don’t think it is a major issue: it happens only in backlit situations, when the camera is shooting at a precise angle in comparison to the light rays and the grid appears only if there is purple flare. Usefully, the purple flare can easily be detected in the EVF while shooting and sometimes even the grid will appear on screen. The solution is to simply adjust the composition ever so slightly by tilting up or down to eliminate the purple flare.”
  • X-T2 more solid build and improved controls (joystick, button locking mechanism, 3 way tilting screen etc)
  • X-T2 brigher, more contrasty and vivid EVF with better refresh rate
  • ISO: “Concerning noise ratio performance, I didn’t find much of a difference with the new sensor. The amount of noise seems to be very similar despite the increased resolution of the X-T2.”
  • Single AF Speed: with new lenses, X-T2 has a small advantage over X-T1. With older lenses, X-T2 focusses visibly faster.
  • Eye and Face detection: More reliable on X-T2
  • Continous AF: “X-T1 isn’t far behind its successor“. However, AF-custom settings “add precision to your work and raise your chances of success
  • Battery life similiar, although the the X-T2 seems to last longer when shooting in continuous mode

UPDATE 2: FujifilmUS confirmed via Twitter, that the Firmware was planed for today

Fujifilm X-T2: tethering support + Bug fixes (like an overexposure issue at certain settings)

Fujifilm X-T1: EF-X500 Support

The firmware should be available soon… unless Fujifilm stops everything because of a last second bug (which wouldn’t be the first time it happens)

Local Store lists Fujifilm GFX 50s for “about €8000” :: More Fujifilm GFX Hands-On Reports

Share

The 3,500 members of the Fujifilm GFX facebook group are very active. Some had the opportunity to test the GFX and shared their feedback for example here, some other guys are fighting hard to get their hands on as first on the GFX, like E. Bouvet and J. Apruzzese here, and more feedback and images can be checked out also here.

So you see… the group is very active and sharing stuff that fast, that I simply can’t keep up with it on FujiRumors. So, if you are interested in the Fujifilm GFX, then I recommend you to join the Fujifilm GFX facebook group.

Now, there are still many questions open regarding the Fujifilm GFX, and one of the hottest is for sure about its price. I’ve reported in the past, how an official Vietnamese store and Fujifilm showroom listed the GFX (+ lens) for sale for $8500 (€7,700).

Another hint has just been spotted by GFX facebook member Boerckel here. He noticed the flier of a German Store, where the Fujifilm GFX 50s price is said to be “about €8000“. It’s not clear if they mean body only or with GF63mm lens. The image shows the camera with lens, whereas the product description does not mention the lens.

Some reactions from the comments here:

  • J. Lindalen: “kids won’t be getting christmas presents this year, I need to save up some $$
  • M. Kuhnreich “Ha, my kids aren’t even allowed at the dentist this year. Daddy’s portraits are going to look awesome, though!”

a friendly GFX meeting

Fujifilm Will Launch Lenses with Clickless Aperture for Video in 2017 – New Source

X-Video Lenses

According to a new source, Fujifilm will launch lenses with clickless aperture in 2017. These lenses are ment for X-shooters, who use their X-camera especially for videos.

Of course, take it with a grain of salt for now…

With the X-T2, Fujifilm now has a very good allrounder camera, with very fast and accurate Aufotfocus (so confirms even the Sony manager, who created the A7 series) and great video quality. And X-shooters, who use the X-T2 a lot for video, might appreciate the addition of such lenses.

I don’t know, yet, if Fujifilm will make a clickless aperture version of existing lenses, or if they are going to launch complete new lenses.

And while such lenses might be highly appreciated by video shooters, I hope Fujifilm doesn’t forget that some out there are still waiting for the XF33mmF1.0, XF8-16mmF2.8, XF200mmF2 (or 2.8) and some other lenses with a nice clicky aperture ring ;).
